Almost everything .Check in was organised with everything ready for us. The bedrooms were fine and adjacent as requested. note the doors do not self lock so need to use the key when leaving the room. We had drinks in the cellar bar at very reasonable prices with a large open fire to warm us. The evening meal in the cellar restaurant was great with very efficient service even though it was busy. Continental breakfast was complimentary but we had the full fry up, again excellent.

The bedrooms were situated on the 3rd floor accessed by flights of stairs as there is no lift. My request for a piggy back was not taken up but they would take our luggage for us.

Comfy beds, bottled water & tea/coffee provided in rooms & the meals were excellent with the chef providing a good choice of gluten & dairy free meal options along with the regular choice. Always outstanding when you find everyone is catered for and with choice. Food was delicious, good selection of breakfast items (cooked items extra £) along with gf cereal and non dairy milks & yoghurt available too. Lots of comfy armchairs and sofas to sit at or lovely topiary garden outside when the weather is good. Everything was clean and staff very friendly and helpful. But as ALL bedrooms are on top floor and no lift - this is not to place to stay if have mobility issues and stairs are a challenge! But do come for a meal.

Only small thing but Breakfast on first morning did take a long time for any staff to come out and check if any guests waiting in breakfast room for service. Had to go find them in the end. Second morning wasn’t an issue.

High quality food both evening meal and continental breakfast. Great property character with good location. Very nice room with high ceiling and great view.

Decorators blocking the staircase. Elderly relative came down the staircase for breakfast to be sent back up to attempt to find the other staircase. Its quite a maze of navigation. Having said that he was helped with his baggage earlier which was greatly appreciated. Some staff are more helpful than others. Hot tap turned the wrong way! Strange green ceiling light illuminating the bed all night!

It was stunning. Extremely comfortable, clean. Rooms were beautiful, great extras like a tee/coffee hamper, robes. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Vanessa in the breakfast room was excellent, Will and Lucy were very helpful.

Four flights of stairs were a challenge. The heating was left on in my daughter’s bedroom, which meant the whole room was really hot. The fan provided wasn’t working, but staff quickly provided 2 replacements. Plumbing was very loud Cooked breakfast not included in the price, which wasn’t highlighted until after we had booked. However, these issues didn’t detract from what was a wonderful stay, but useful to point out to the owners/management

Beautiful place in a beautiful setting. Ideal for the Classic bike show in Stafford show

Complications at the bar with our bill. We had meals both evenings in the restaurant. We joined 2 more guests to eat. When my steak pie arrived it hadn't seen an oven. If was ice cold. They took it away. Girl retired to ask me if I wanted another pie. I hadn't eaten any of the pie, only cut it up. Slightly embarrassing as I Sat while 3 were eating their meals.

The entrance up the drive was quite magnificent. The staff from the reception welcome to the departure were helpful and very friendly. Our room was a wonderful size, and all the little extras in the room were welcomed. Variety of teas, dressing gowns in the wardrobe, even a lovely takeaway postcard of the building. The food overall was expectional, but I was particularly fond of the sticky belly pork, which was served on the oriental sharer board as a good way of starting your evening meal for 2.

The stairs as there were quite a lot up to our room! But nothing really we didn't like.

We loved the history and look of the building. The cellar and fireplaces are amazing. We stayed two nights, the evening meal in the cellar was fantastic and staff are excellent. We also enjoyed the afternoon tea which was more than enough for two. The lounge was very comfortable and welcoming with a relaxed atmosphere and drinks expertly made. Staff were very friendly and polite and made sure you were happy.

Although the room, Gayton was comfortable and spacious, with plenty of closet room for a two night stay and for a longer stay if you wanted. However, as we were a couple, it would be best to add an extra chair to the single chair in the room so each could sit without using the bed. A little soundproofing between next door bathroom and the room would be beneficial, the shower and the flushing macerator is excessively loud and easily disturbing.

Beautiful property with exceptional rooms the food was delicious and beautifully cooked.

No criticism of the venue. However the attitude of some members of the staff was disappointing to say the least. At the reception desk , my eighty year old husband was told he had to carry his luggage up three flights of stairs and furthermore there was no lift and no offer of help. We were also asked to leave bank card details in case we caused any damage!! Not a situation we have ever experienced or would want to again A great shame.

Setting was great. Weather wasn’t brilliant but comfortable in doors. Didn’t leave the property and the food and drink was good. Enjoyable night away in a nice old property. Restaurant toilets threw me but you have to see it to understand.

Two things…1) not enough sockets in the room, needed the fan and had to search for a socket. The Saniflow was noisy but naturally quiet during the night.

I loved this place. Staff were polite and friendly, breakfast was perfect, room was spacious and clean. For the money we paid I,d say we had a bargain. Absolutely amazing from the minute we arrived to the moment we left. Top class without the high price tag. Wonderful area.

The weather so we couldnt sit outside and admire the views. There is nothing not to like about this hotel.
