The room was a beautiful combination of old world and period features but with all mod cons. I was expecting the decor to be tired from reading previous reviews but this was not the case at all, the bed linen, towels and toiletries were of a high standard and contributed to the lux feel.

a couple across the breakfast room was SO rude, why do other customers spoil the ambience for us all? He was complaining about the breakfast being cold - no need to speak so loudly at the waitress though is there? We found the breakfast beautiful and certainly hot enough. There was a shortage of butter but the staff soon amended it when it was bought to their attention in a polite quiet request.

Fabulous building. In the main areas of the hotel it is decorated really well Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We have stayed at this hotel before and stayed in the Maple Suite so we knew what to expect. Room is spacious and the bed is very comfortable.

There is no coffee machine in the suite. No conditioner in the shower and no soap bar in the bathroom. Bought my own soap in the end. There were two containers in the bathroom but there were no labels on either of them so didn't know what they contained. Also, in the little area off the main bedroom there was a broken pane of glass in the window.

Beautiful location, lovely house, our room was lovely and had a shared balcony, the breakfast was table service and cooked to order and was perfect! (No half cooked bacon kept warm under heat lamps here!) The dinner menu looked exceptional and I wish we could have stayed another night to try that! Room was clean, there was plenty of tea & coffee provision, The staff were very pleasant and helpful

Our only gripe was the mattress in our room was really firm. Personal choice really. I did ask at reception whether the other rooms/suites had softer mattresses and she advised me they were upgrading all rooms and next time we booked to mention it so we could be allocated a suite with a softer mattress.... And we will be booking again when the weather is better!

Our room was perfect and had a nice sitting area on the balcony. In the evening we enjoyed a drink or two in the bar. Breakfast was great. We loved the room it was in and the pictures on the wall. Good choice for breakfast and great service. We enjoyed a nice stroll in the gardens after breakfast . It is unusual these days to have a lovely stay with no issues at all.

Nothing! Everything more than exceeded our expectations.....it was such a lovely experience.

Stunning location and very beautiful grounds. Even on a soggy day in September it was too inviting not too have an explore. Staff all exceptionally helpful, and friendly. Hotel itself is well looked after and I can imagine it being a superb venue for weddings, work events, team building etc. I stayed in a ‘Cosy Double’ which was very reasonably priced. It was small but well designed so it didn’t feel cramped, rather it was just as hoped for - cosy. Lovely touch to have a bottle of water and a glass in the room. Good selection of teas/coffee/hot chocolate to make in the room with kettle which is always appreciated. Also great to have two towels and a bath mat- as a woman with long hair it makes a difference and lovely soap in the bathroom. All the sort of touches that make you feel looked after and spoilt when you stay somewhere. Food was also excellent. Had dinner and breakfast both of which were thoroughly enjoyed. Would highly recommend and stay again should the opportunity arise.

All staff we encountered were extremely friendly and professional. We stayed in a basic double room and there was plenty of room. The bathroom was well equipped with a corner shower, large sink with storage under and a heated towel rail. We dined in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Breakfast was also delicious with a wide choice of cooked and continental options. They cater well for vegetarians and vegans and also for various food allergies and intolerances. Overall a wonderful, relaxing stay and we would definitely recommend.

The wardrobe would be too small for a stay of more than a couple of days. The bathroom was a bit compact.

Walking towards the entrance we were greeted by Bella the cat. Think she was vetting us. The room was lovely with a view of the gardens from one side & we had a balcony too. Sadly the weather wasn't good enough for us to sit out there. The bed was very comfortable & we slept really well. We had 2 meals in the restaurant which were both excellent & so were the breakfasts. Service was always good & in the lounge in the afternoon for coffees too. Plenty of parking spaces, amazing gardens to walk around. Ideally located for World of Wedgwood, (The Upper House was built in 1845 for Josiah Wedgewood's grandson Francis). Trentham Monkey Forest & Trentham Shopping Village. All the staff were really friendly & attentive at all times. It will also be a wonderful venue for a wedding.

The only thing which is a minor one really is the lack of cupboard space for underwear/t-shirts etc but when staying for just a couple of night's not too bad really.

We were greeted on arrival/check in by a friendly cat sitting on the reception desk. He came to visit us in the morning too. Lovely period property with original quirky features. Our room was large with a good sized balcony. We didn't have an evening meal in the hotel but the menu looked good and catered well for variety of diets and allergens.

Although there was not an event in the property the night we stayed, there was heavy beat music coming from somewhere in the hotel which reverbebrated through our room until about 11 pm.

The grounds are lovely – hard to beat sitting out on the terrace watching the sun set over the fields with a glass of wine or two. The staff were all incredibly friendly and courteous. The rooms were quiet and comfortable. Plus there's an adorable cat! What more could you ask for?

Very minor point but, as a foodie, I feel the cookery could be sharpened up just a little. The menu, ingredients and presentation were all spot on but a couple of items at breakfast & dinner needed more/less time on the heat, e.g. bacon fat should be caramelised and lamb should be served pink. This isn't something worth letting dissuade you from visiting though!

The venue itself A wedding was in progress when we arrived but we were Warned prior and we were placed in a room which would be the least disturbed! The staff were friendly and helpful . The room was clean and very spacious as was the bathroom . Breakfast was delicious. Will definitely return when next in the area !

It would be nice to have some games in the lounge area perhaps such as: cards , dominoes, chess, board games…perhaps to entice us out of our rooms and use the bar /snack facilities when relaxing and not want to watch TV .
