The location is excellent, being in the centre of the town of Stone, Staffordshire. The room allocated was in the annexe which was easily accessed however the shower only had cold water so staff changed our room to another also in the annexe. The shower worked for the 1st day in the 2nd apartment but after that we couldn't get hot water so just had strip washes. A nuisance but we didn't want to move again. The bed was very comfortable and everything looked clean and tidy. There was a kettle with tea bags and coffee sachets as well as small containers of milk. I struggled with internet access but the staff checked and I just used internet elsewhere.

Cold showers! Moved rooms to one with hot water but after one day that also was cold. We didn't report this again as we probably were doing something wrong. Slow or non-existant internet in the room but again I was using a european sim card so only on hotel internet and not on my contract internet.

Value for money. Friendly staff and a great restaurant with good food. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

Staff and restaurant staff were very friendly, accommodating and welcoming. Rooms are basic but I've paid more for less. Restaurant is very well presented and great food of an evening. We didn't have the breakfast so i can't comment. Positioned well and when work being undertaken is finished, I can imagine it be ideal for parties and weddings, but only if prices remain the same with the rooms. I considered it value for money and the building to be very nice, not what I was expecting. Quite grand.

Spent 3 days here recently and for what we were charged, it was far superior to expectations. There were signs up apologising for any inconvenience during renovations but we didnt experience any and the only thing we even saw was someone carrying cable trunking up the stairs to the room he was presumably renovating. I gather the place has had some renovations done since the current owners took over and it was very clean and tidy everywhere, be it the bar, breakfast room/coffee lounge or restaurant. Downstairs toilet facilities were also very clean. Carpets throughout the stairs and landings were very plush and you could tell they were of good quality. On to our room and we were very impressed. Again, very plush carpet that your feet just sank in to. Clean, simple decor and excellent facilities. Beautiful en suite with bath and shower. The bedding was of very good quality and seemed like it was brand new and the bed itself was extremely comfortable. We both had 2 very good nights sleep and felt very refreshed in the mornings. Breakfast was delicious and appeared to be made to order rather than cooked in advance and then just plated up when needed. Speaking of food, our experience on the night we dined in the restaurant was just superb. The most delicious Indian meal we have ever had, brilliantly presented and exquisite to taste. The food was simply divine! Now for the staff. We were made to feel very welcome by every single member of staff we encountered. Be they receptionists, bar staff, restaurant staff or the men doing the renovations. All were extremely friendly, pleasant,polite and respectful whilst remaining professional and nothing was too much trouble for them. Overall a fantastic place, highly recommended and one we would definitely stay in again.

Nothing to dislike

Nicely presented hotel, great location in the centre of Stone with parking on site. Good sized room and bathroom. Very good lighting in the bedroom. We could hear music from the cocktail bar but it didn't go on late so didn't affect us, the town was quiet at night. Staff very helpful and friendly especially front of house/reception staff member Jack (I think his name was).

We would have liked an opening window, we couldn't see out of it because of the condensation. The shower over the bath needs updating. No information about the hotel/breakfast/the town in the bedroom.

Style of the building and the location. Having the restaurant on site too.

It could of been a little better in some areas. The bathroom was tatty, hairs everywhere, on the floor in the sink. And seeing as we booked as a couple there was only one towel between us both. It would of been nice to have a towel each. For the cost of the room i would of expected it to be a bit better standards wise. Considering we get charged £50 if there’s any damage. I think there should be a similar payment waver if we think its not to standard.

I stayed after my work, loved this place very much with their comfy bed and room arrangements. The hotel looks like they have renovated recently, it has maintained its charm and beauty. I walked through the high street in the morning, I found very interesting and people in this town is really welcoming. The canal next to the hotel seems a good spot for morning and evening walks. I love to come and visit this town with my family. The high street view from my room was amazing, I would definitely stay here again.

I know the TV serves the digital channels, it would be better if traditional TV channels were available.

I stayed a few years ago and didn't enjoy my time. However, with all the new improvements it is a much better experience. They have put a lot of effort and time into renovating a once dated hotel. The Indian restaurant and cocktail bar are both out of this world and provide an incredible mixed evening of entertainment. The continental breakfast was good value for money, and the bar was nice and quiet with a good selection of alcohol and soft drinks. Not too mention there was free parking!

Nothing

The room was great, nice and clean with thought gone into the design, and a relief after our last couple of guesthouse experiences.

There was no hot water for a shower and no discount for that, not even a free continental breakfast. Doors were on strong springs and every time another guest opened the outside doors there was a series of loud bangs, not good at 3.20 am.

Unlike some of the posts I’ve read in other places, I found the Crown hotel to be clean, inviting and downright classic! The staff were very friendly and consistently making sure I was comfortable. The newly opened Indian restaurant “chilli dum” was fantastic and soon it’s going to be the new hot spot of stone. I will definitely stay there when I come back!

They take £50 pre authorisation which doesn’t come back to your bank for well over a week , I stay in hotels 3 nights a week for the past 38 years and I have never come across anything like this
