Hotel in the central position of Stirling. Spacious room. Working WiFi. Tea and coffee available in room. Spotless. Everything as advertised. Excellent value for money. Recommended.

Note that there are events in the hotel ballroom till late night (Fri/Sat). (However, even that it was a wrestling tournament we did not hear any excessive noise in the room.). Note also that elevator is small, slow and claustrophobic. We were also lucky with parking (I can imagine the parking lot is full.) Check carefully the direction to the parking lot (sent by hotel beforehand) as this is not easy to find. Anyway, we can recommend the acommodation due to the outstanding location, great feel based on long history of the hotel, and surprisingly good price.

Room was cosy the heating was on. It was clean and comfy. Staff were friendly. Quick easy check in and out.

Room though cosy was small. Breakfast was not as good as all our previous stays (all 5 of them). Could of done without other guests vomiting out side our door. We had been esrned there was some sort of whisky convention, thats a step too far

Location and fine restaurant food! Excellent staff. Let me leave my suitcase to explore the city when I arrived early.

Did not make up the beds daily or change Towels. I was in the lobby when they sprayed freshness scent… wonder if they vacuum? Some lobby chairs and 1st level public chairs visibly worn.

Location was very good. Very close to shops and restaurants also very close to train and bus stations. Breakfast was good and a good selection of food.

Hotel needs to be freshened up and chairs in dining room especially need to be cleaned and in the bar area, need to be refurbished.

Property was exceptionally clean. The Staff were very friendly The location was amazing. The accessible bedroom we had was very spacious. The beds were very comfortable and bathroom was large with 2 shower chairs. There were extra pillows in the very large wardrobe. Hairdryer was very powerful. Although not used there was an iron and board in the wardrobe The food in the restaurant was excellent....very highly recommended and the staff in there very friendly.

The Lift.....I know its an old building and it was added many many years later but as a party that had disabled person the wait for it and the size was a point we personally did not like. However it didn't ruin the stay just a niggle. Breakfast was a bit disappointing....no veggy options and was just a bit underwhelming. We only ate there once despite paying for the duration of the stay. Sadly a member of staff had a bad hygiene issue and was very off putting. (Again I hate to say it but it was very bad. How the other staff did not smell it is beyond me.) Disabled entry at front of hotel was broken. I absolutely hate bringing any of this up but it's from my experience not a rule.

We had a lovely large room and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was on the main street in Stirling and was close to the shopping centre. The castle was up a big hill which you could walk to from the hotel. The included breakfast was good too. Everything very clean. The restaurant food was nice as well and was good value for money.

The car park round the back of the hotel was quite an experience. The hotel gave us detailed instructions how to find it which were very clear so we found it easily. The car park itself was up a very narrow passage between two shops and the back of the buildings were very dilapidated. I was glad I was not there on my own! There were many cars there as it is first come first serve but we managed to squeeze in. There needed to be more staff at breakfast too. The first day it seemed to be one poor woman on her own. The breakfast was good though.

The location of the hotel is great. Rooms were clean with tea and coffee making facilities. The rooms have been updated since our last stay (a few years aging). Nice bar and restaurant. Friendly staff.

The rooms were too hot, the hotel heating needs to be sorted but a fan was provided upon request. The car park was the biggest let down it is shabby and run down. Our car was damaged during our stay by a large wheelie bin from a shop that backs onto the Golden Lion car park. There should be clear markings, signs, warnings or some form of spacing barrier that other properties share the space. The Golden Lion are failing to protect their customers vehicles (it’s their car park). They didn’t want to know and just brushed us off with “owners park their vehicles at their own risk”. We have come home with an expensive car repair bill for choosing to stay at this hotel.

It wasn't a question of if I'd come back here, it was when. 3 months separated both of my 2 night stays and in April, I'll return. Location, 5 minutes from the rail station, perfect. Room, very good. Shower was easy to use. This time, I had breakfast which was excellent. Dee and her team were very good. They had a lot of people for breakfast which showed how great it was.

Unfortunately the lights in the room were confusing to operate in order to switch them all out to get a good night's sleep. I eventually managed it though. Light was getting in through the bottom of the bedroom door too.

The hotel is located in a very welcoming and well-furnished 18th century structure. The rooms are large and well furnished. The breakfast is very good. Its downtown position is perfect for a tourist or to get to University by bus.

The hotel does not provide daily cleaning or towels. In 10 days I never had any cleaning in my room and to get clean towels I had to ask for them at the reception. This is a pity because it lowers the rating of a truly beautiful and, in other ways, very hospitable hotel.
