Perfect location directly by the water. Room was meticulously clean and finished to a very good standard... e.g. massive wooden doors instead of the usual "cardboard" ones. Tea &coffee making facilities and biscuits added a nice touch as did the hankie boxes and a bedside radio/alarm clock.. I hadn't booked "sea view", but could see the harbour when leaning out of my window. The massive bins underneath it were not so pleasant, but maybe there was no other place to put them... Seafood dinner for my friends and myself was absolutely lovely. You definitely need to book a table, even midweek if you want to eat in. Breakfast with harbour views (partially obstructed by parked cars) was ok ...most of the food freshly cooked.
Yes, staff was nice...but a bit unorganised in terms of "who's doing what?" Creaky steep (!!) stairs and thin walls weren't ideal for a good night's sleep, but you could wish your neighbours a good night or "bless you" without any problem.

everything was above average. We didn't eat there but the meals looked good
The hotel recommended two eateries. The Toll Booth was excellent if a little pricey. The othe restaurant two doors down the front was half the cost but I got food other than I ordered and was treated to a lot of 'perfect' and 'you guys'. I am not easily mistaken for a Yank. As for the Ship if I really had to try to find fault it would be the lack of mixer taps. The hot water is as advertised.

Breakfast was really great. And the restaurant on the evening also. The room was a little tiny and old, but nice. The location was really good. Nice City and the Hotel was direct on the harbor.
We had three rooms and one of them were in the other house. And only the other two were near another. The view out of all three windows was not so great. And the one room in the other house was really small and a little old. But okay.

One-night weekend trip to Stonehaven from Glasgow. The Ship Inn is located in the old harbour, arguably the best location in town with nice seaside view and cosy surrondings. We had a pleasant and quiet room for the night (great value!), and a delicious meal in the pub/restaurant of the Ship Inn. Stonehaven is well worth a visit, and not only for the castle!
Not much negatives to write home about! It wasn't high-end luxury, but we didn't want that either!

Staff were friendly, room was comfortable, great views. Food was good and no issues.
The only issue was the stairs. I walk with a stick and found the stairs difficult. However it was the last room so not much they could have done about it. maybe the hotel could let people know that there is no lift and a lot of stairs to the rooms. the staff member did carry my bags for me which was a great help though.

We arrived early and met by a very helpful and welcoming young duty manager who advised and helped re parking and carried our luggage inside. Despite being early our room was ready. It was light and airy with walk-in shower in en-suite bathroom. The location was excellent with stunning views over the harbour. All staff without exception were friendly, helpful and polite - nothing seemed to much trouble and we were always served with a smile. Breakfast was first class with a wide option and choice. We only stayed two nights and dined in once. My steak was cooked exactly as I ordered and my wife’s meal was lovely with generous portions - so much so, no starters or sweets were ordered.
Bed was comfy but pillows lacked bounce though not uncomfortably so. This was a very minor point.

I had a sea facing room this time which was excellent. Good choice of food for breakfast and all very tasty and hot. Staff cannot do enough for you and the whole place has a very good atmosphere....pity it was for work!
No lift and I was at the top of the place, ok for me but would be a struggle for older people especially with cases, its an old building so visitors would need to specify they needed a lower floor

Wonderful location. Comfortable room and bed. Great shower. So quiet in the evening. I recommend the deluxe room with the sea view. We had dinner in the restaurant there and it was delicious. For breakfast there were several choices including cooked Scottish breakfasts. Stonehaven is a beautiful little seaside village just a few miles from Dunnottar Castle.
Can't think of anything.

I had arrived early and asked to drop off my bag and they were kind enough to check me in early! The room was very comfortable, and there was a Kettle for tea and coffee, and a nice desk. The shower was great, and it got up to a very hot temperature, which I appreciated on a cold dreary day.
My only complaint is that the room was a bit cold at night, and the heat from the radiator seemed to escape through thr window and not travel to the rest of the room.

the Hotel is located on the Stonehaven Harbor. The Ship Inn is also a traditional pub, where if you want you can have a dinner or only drink. The breakfast is amazing and complete. you can choose what you prefer eat at the menu (full complete Scottish breakfast, pudding and other options) and there is an self-service area with fruit juices, cereals, fruits, cookies, yogurts, bread, jam and butter. The rooms are upstairs at the first floor, with all the comforts you need. The Hotel doesn't have a private parking zone, but there are a lot of free parking area around the bay. Is a good place to stay for visited the Dunnotar Castle, Stonehaven and nearby.
