There were so many layers of interest at this hotel. It’s buildings, grounds and history made it an intriguing place to stay. We had a very comfortable room in Louisa Lodge, with a lovely view over the bay. Breakfast was fantastic. We enjoyed the continental buffet on one day and excellent cooked breakfast the others. The staff were really friendly and helpful and went the extra mile, including returning something I had left behind. Parking was excellent too

A couple of evenings having dinner at the hotel would have been nice. We felt a bit tired on some days when we’d been out all day and walking into town to a restaurant was an effort. Or a small fridge in the room would have been useful.

The Purbeck Hotel area is sympathetic to its history whilst keeping up to date with modern technology and current visitor requirements. Louisa Lodge by contrast is modern, but still fits with its surroundings. All areas were clean and the staff friendly. The breakfast is very good with helpful and efficient staff in a very nice conservatory. The reception was welcoming and nothing too much trouble. We have no hesitation in returning soon. An extra nice bonus to stay in Swanage itself.

Brilliant location a short walk from the town centre. Car parked safely and no need to use it for our two day stay. Our room in the Lodge was spacious and comfortable with opening doors to the garden from which there was an excellent view over the town. The breakfast was self service with an excellent selection of cooked goodies, baked items, fruit and cereal. The cooked breakfast was delicious. Tea and coffee was served to us by very attentive and friendly staff.

The bathroom could do with an upgrade. The power shower was lovely but the curtain didn’t prevent water escaping. There were signs of wear here and there too. The toilet was tricky to flush and the extractor didn’t seem to work (we followed the instructions not to open the bathroom door after a shower as it might trigger an alarm).

We had a wonderful large room with a rather pretty view to the garden so we enjoyed morning sunrise view from there before hitting the road. After days spent hiking we were most thankful to have such a lovely space to relax, the bed was also gigantic and the space spotless, we were had a chance to make the most of the garden area as well as a bar one evening, was friendly and neat.. Stafff was wonderfully kind and helpful as we discovered the area and had plenty of insights to share, breakfast was copious and we had our needs very well taken care off.

Fantastic location, the room was a good size with a lovely view of the sea over the rooftops. Breakfast here is always excellent and the parking is brilliant particularly when there is something like Carnival on. The bar has reasonable prices and the staff are always helpful.

When we separated the beds to make a wider corridor between them in a twin set up, the floor had not been hoovered under there in some time! The rest of the room and bathroom was very clean.

Location on the High Street was great with a large car park to leave the car. 5 minutes walk from the main part of Swanage, one way, and also 5 minutes the other way to the Black Swan pub that does great food. ( best to book ) The Louisa Lodge was so quiet and the room we had was, warm, spacious, had a large comfortable bed, with a good sized bathroom with a fantastic shower which was hot and was like being in a deluge..!! Breakfast was fantastic with plenty to choose from which was served by friendly chatty staff on both the days we stayed. The main house was big, clean and steeped in history. It was an old convent with fantastic décor and features which the manager was more than proud to show us around and tell us about it, too.

As you can see from above when we were there, we had nothing to complain about.

Breakfast was great, so were the reception staff. Sean was really helpful and all the breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. Location is excellent - walking distance to the town and beach, lovely gardens and parking on-site.

The rooms could do with a little updating, however the linen and pillows were great, everything was very clean. some more hooks or a bigger town rail would be good - hard to dry towels for a family of 4.

Location was great just a 5 minute walk to the town and beach, breakfast was very generous and a wide selection of food. Room was nice over 2 floors with a huge bedroom.

The only downside to the hotel was the sound insulation between the rooms was quite poor and with very heavy fire doors which people kept shutting loudly and shaking the whole room. All the doors need door closers to stop people slamming them.

Although I would not have been surprised had noise carried in Louisa Lodge, I was glad to find that it was peaceful there. One thing I particularly like about the location is the access to the upper roads that the back entrance to the property gives.

Almost nothing, but the coffee at breakfast seemed to be little hotter than warm, which is something that I don't like — so I had tea after the first morning of coffee.

Good choice for breakfast, with a friendly team to serve and help. Room was warm very clean and serviced daily. The location was very central to the town centre and the bay; walking was easy to all of Swanage. Convenent Parking within the grounds and near my room was good, I will use this hotel again.
