Railway Cottage was exactly as we expected it to be, so central and quiet at the same time, and absolutely ideal for our needs as a family of four for two nights. We hardly spent any time in the room as we were out and about enjoying what Swanage and the surrounds had to offer. However, we did watch a movie after an early supper on the seafront the one night. It was great value for money, especially the £1/day parking lot right opposite, and was a perfect place to lay our heads at the end of a busy day. We met Tom, who was very friendly and welcoming, and we always enjoy supporting local people so it gets a 10/10 from us. Thank you for a wonderful Easter weekend.

Not enough milk for tea, a small personal carton in the fridge would have been nice, and some of the pillows were lumpy (they could probably be replaced) but, with a choice of two each, it really wasn't a problem. Thanks again.

The room was very fresh and clean, maybe recently decorated, everything was well thought out, we could come and go, no fuss, and extra tea/coffe/milk, toilet roll and bin bags just outside the room. It’s great that the room had a fridge, the shower was good, radiator could be adjusted to preference. Wi-Fi password is provided in the room. It is room only but in swanage there are lots of places to buy food within easy walking distance.

Nothing was bad about the place, but if there was a microwave it would’ve been even better!

The owners were very nice ,friendly, and very helpful. The only time the owner came into our room was to change the bed streets, but we were asked first if we wanted the sheets changing. We absolutely loved the room. we were able to sit and look out of the window,we were able to come and go as we pleased. It was only about a 10-15 minute walk to the beach,there is plenty to do while staying.we really enjoyed our stay, and we would definitely stay again. The owners were very welcoming, and the room was spotless

Railway Cottage is a delightful , peaceful spot , very handy for the town , station , beach , massive car park in front of property , rooms are delightfully and simply furnished , tea and coffee making facilities are provided , spotlessly clean ..and when I stayed rooms were warm !...its superb if you can walk easily in to town to find a excellent choice of breakfast venues , and if your activity requires a early start just perfect , I would thoroughly recommend this establishment,

Nice room on the first floor of a semi with a pull down table I could work at, a small fridge and a kettle, plus tea and instant coffee supplies. Faced the back of the house so no problem with traffic noise. Comfortable bed, decent shower, internet was fine. The house located opposite the main beach car park which is fairly pricey but in early June had space; it was possible to park in the streets behind the house. Easy 15 min walk to centre of town, the town beach, and restaurants.

Double yellow on Victoria Ave and quite a lot of traffic, so hard to unload from car on arrival and reload on departure. Swanage in early June seems to have almost nowhere open for a meal after 9pm - Indian, Chinese, takeaways only I think. The nearest shop for breakfast supplies is a Londis at least 1/2 mile back along the road at a garage.

The room was excellent and in a great location close to the beach, train station and town centre. Cleanliness was very good and ensuite was excellent. I felt comfortable staying here.

I had a problem locking my room door, it was hard to find any staff to ask questions as there was no reception or anyone to greet you. There was only a card with information on. Those were only small gripes though and it was certainly very good value for money.

Had all the facilities I needed. Compact bathroom almost hidden away behind double doors. Tea and coffee plus cloths etc to wash up cups. TV was ok. Nice and quiet. Easy parking in local road. Comfortable bed and good lighting.

Would have liked a biscuit with the tea/coffee facilities. Didn't meet the owners at any point. The keysafe was a bit of a pain to get open, but that was because everything was wet in the rain.

This is a great location for anyone who is visiting Swanage. It is central (but on a quiet road) and within walking distance (pavement the whole way) to the beach. It is also about a 30 minute walk from Durlston Country Park (and Castle) - which I visited on Saturday morning for their weekly parkrun. The room was a good size and very clean. There were tea/coffee facilities available, as well as towels. Check-in and check-out were both very easy. I travelled by train/bus and did not require parking (which I believe is not included).

There were no negatives for me.

Our 2 girls loved that we had a big pile of books in our room and a good selection of dvds my 10year old grabbed a chapter book straight away and finished it before we left the next day! 😀 A great size room and bathroom, plenty of room for the 4 of us . And just a short walk to the beach! Xx

The girls loved the bunk beds but it was quite squeaky on the top especially when you have a child that moves alot in her sleep. I'm sure this could be fixed though, and wouldn't stop us coming back 🙂

Lots to like. Great location for town centre, beach and coastal walks etc. Did not need to use the car during our stay also the car park over the road was perfect for 24hr stay and only a pound during winter months. Cottage was comfy and had all you need, perfect location😎 Our dogs were relaxed in the room and I should mention that allowing dogs to stay for free is a real bonus 👍
