We booked Room 9, it was big and very comfortable, big comfy bed, super shower, quiet even though a Friday and Saturday night, iron and ironing board which we needed as going to wedding, and hairdryer and plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. All staff very friendly and helpful. Super delicious evening meal, I had lamb shank and lovely New Zealand sauvignon blanc. Very historic quirky interesting building. As with all of Towcester, the oldest village in Northamptonshire, fascinating to walk round and learn about its past. Some super cafes for brunch and coffee. No bus service on Sunday but Uber and Zoom taxis reliable. 40 mins on bus 88 to Northampton. We loved it
I think maybe they needed more staff on at breakfast as it seemed a bit stressful for them, and unfortunately there were a lot of flies on the breakfast buffet table which was a bit off putting. We went out for breakfast the second morning. But really we had a lovely time and the place is full of character and ancient charm and our room was super, good value I think, we paid £200 ish for 2 nights with breakfast.

The staff were incredibly accommodating of us and our 2 year old! The room was huge! The breakfast was incredible with a huge range of toast coffe fruit yoghurts pastries and traditional/ continental options with the thickest bacon and plumpest sausages! 9 minutes to Dadford campsite- perfect for our events!
Overall the room was excellent and huge! There was a bit of peeling paint and an old leak spot on the ceiling that could do with some TLC but it didn’t affect our stay one bit! The tap was a bit loud (to be expected in an old place!) and the room was a bit hot but the staff were incredibly quick to get us a fan! Overall these were not big negatives- they didn’t impact the happiness of our stay at all just things that could be tweaked to make it a flawless stay!

Breakfast was excellent value for money. A choice of continental and or traditional, fresh pastries and fruit each morning and a decent cup of coffee. Hot food was very good, well presented and cooked fresh. Room was a nice size and beds comfy if a little soft. Restaurant staff friendly. Food good and excellent atmosphere. I was worried staying in a pub and our room was over the bar but by 11.30 at the latest all quiet and peaceful
The bathroom was clean and over the bath shower was good, but there was a few small maintenance matters that made it look uncared for. Holes not filled in under the towel rail. Black stick on skirting board breaking up and coming away. New sink pedestal fitted and the gap in flooring left. Mould on the grouting in a couple of places, which a bit of a well known product would have sorted out. These things are small and didn’t detracted from the overall value but niggled and if fixed would have meant no negative comments about this stay.

The staff made my stay exceptional - I have stayed in many hotels over the years but have never recieved the standard of care and attention to my needs. I have mobility issues and at every turn someone was there offering to assist me. I think the best critique would be to state I will be staying here again asap. Full english breakfast was lovely - I was offered choices of egg and I went with poached - it was perfect.
Air con in the room would have been nice - I restrained from opening the bedroom window - to be fair almost a non issue.

A very nice hotel, situated in easy walking distance of local shops, pubs and restaurants. Free parking, great breakfast. My room was a decent size with a good en suite bathroom. The restaurant and bar were pleasant and not too busy, although I only stayed on a Monday night. The price I paid was very good value for money compared to what I would have paid to stay in a city centre hotel. The staff were all polite and helpful.
There was nothing I can suggest to improve the hotel. It would have been nice if there were lifts, but that's probably impractical in such an old building. The hotel is on a busy road, but I had specifically looked for somewhere in the heart of things.

The room was good and clean, comfortable. At breakfast the staff were rushing around and in a hurry, we did not like the banging of cupboards doors throughout our meal, although the staff were very helpful and the breakfast menu was very good. The floors were wet where they had been already washed before we arrived and doors open so it could dry making it quite cold when eating our breakfast. We found that the dinner was much the same and mistakes were made when they were busy with a order, they were a very busy place and not enough staff in our apinion, if more staff were on duty the atmostfere would of been better, also they need to stock up there store a bit better, I am dairy intolerant and they had to go to the shop while I waited for breakfast, I did let them know before we arrived.
Constant door banging around the hotel from the staff, there is no need to bang the doors, we are not use to it. I know the hotel is a old hotel and very nice, I found it hard going up the stairs and come the end of the week I had to limit the times going up and down them. There was no comfortable lounge to sit in the hotel and have a quiet read, only tables and chairs outside.

Very comfortable stay, staff very friendly and willing to help. There was a problem with no chef for two mornings, however the lady that looked after the breakfast service was brilliant nothing was too much trouble. We also had dinner at the hotel on two occasions, the food was very good and good value.
We had a room with a door to the room next door, albeit locked. But you could hear the TV, and conversations from the other room which I didn’t really like. The room was also over looking the car park, so when people were leaving the pub, you had a bit of noise.

Location, parking, clean room, friendly helpful staff ( especially Kerry)
That there was no lift lots of steps Could have better locks on doors That outside people could potentially get access to bedrooms as no door locked to access them There is CTV downstairs in hallway, but as reception isn’t maned all the time. It would be very easy to avoid detection Road noise if on the front of building

Good location close to shops, pubs etc with a good size car park. Staff very friendly and helpful and the room was nice with a large comfy bed. Breakfast choice was good
The room had a connecting door to the adjacent room which was occupied and you could hear everything very clearly. Bathroom, whilst spotlessly clean and well functioning was a little tired. It was steak night in the restaurant but the steaks were tough even when cooked rare

Parking can be very tight, particularly if you arrive in good time (before 6:30pm) - I suspect the carpark is used by people NOT staying at the hotel, during the working day/early evening, Coffee and biscuits had not been replaced from previous guest :( (Plenty of tea/milk). Two single beds pushed together IS NOT a double. The ridge down the centre is basically a no go zone (comfort wise), so you're basically restricted to one half of the resultant 'double', which in my opinion means you're in a single bed.
