Great place only 15 minutes from the center of York. Big bedroom and bathroom Good Breakfast.

Old windows onto the main road let in a lot of road noise. May need secondary glazing

Without a doubt, the staff, especially Simon and the 19 year old bartendress (didn't get her name) were the highlights of our stay. Such hardworking and kind people. Our room was fine, everything needed was there, and fresh towels and room cleaning daily. Great location, minutes walk from city center. Plenty of parking and a huge cooked to order breakfast. We ate in the pub one night and the fish and chips were the best we have had. Their home made steak and ale pie also was very good. Overall, a fine stay.

The bed was a little springy but still provided a good night's sleep. The shower could have been a bit stronger.

Location was brilliant, as was the ability to park in the car park and then head out. Staff were really friendly and helpful. My daughter forgot her comforter and it has been posted back to us with a postcode. This was very much appreciated. The food was outstanding, probably the best breakfast I’ve had in a hotel. We also stayed for dinner. The room was overlooking the road but I didn’t find the noise a problem. Good sized bathroom and toiletries included. Nice and clean

The bed and sofa bed were uncomfortable for us but could just be personal choice.

Large comfortable room. Very friendly and helpful staff always checking on our comfort and asking how our day had been. Excellent location for the city centre and main attractions; about 20 minutes walk to York Minster, so away from any noise or disturbance. Frequent nearby bus services, if needed, meant the car could remain in their car park all week. All food was well presented and tasty, which together with a well stocked bar made a very enjoyable stay. Although our room was directly above the bar we heard no noise. Our room overlooked the main road, which could be noisy during the day but was very quiet at night, so did not disturb our sleep.

Although the cooked breakfast was very good and plentiful, we would have liked to see more alternatives for those who didn’t always want a fried breakfast or wanted something a little lighter. This is just a comment rather than a ‘dislike’. We can understand that having just 5 rooms it is more difficult to avoid wastage when offering other alternatives.

We both really enjoyed our stay here a lovely big room with a very comfy bed also room and bathroom where spotlessly clean. Really handy for town centre just a 10 min walk and you where there. Staff where fantastic very helpful and always a smile on there face. The food was amazing especially the pies also good choice at breakfast. I would highly recommend staying here we will definitely be back. Oh and had 54 different kinds of whisky 😀 on sale from the bar 👍

The property is a lovely old style pub which we prefer over hotels, great that you could park on site and not a overly large beer garden. Hosts and all the staff were lovely and friendly and the food was great, nice menu that catered for all and the breakfast had a great choice of cooked as well as continental with different drinks. It took about 10 mins to walk in to the middle of town which was nothing.

Only down fall was the window in our room felt like it was open permanently you could hear people’s conversation as they passed at 3am 🙈 I kkk no one they are old sash windows but maybe a little attention is needed.

We loved the Rose and Crown! Christopher was our host and he was amazing; willing to do anything for you. And all of the staff were like this. Our large double room was clean and comfortable….but a bit noisy….since most rooms overlook the main road, and they have old single glaze windows. Ear plugs can be an asset. We initially thought our bed might be too soft, and noisy…but it was very comfortable. It was on the 1st (2nd!) floor and there was no lift. Bfast which was very good, was served starting at 8 AM. We had a burger for dinner one night, and it had to be one of the best we have ever had! Great private parking, easy access to town, whether you took the bus (the stop was right out front) or walked across the street thru the city walls.

Opening a window slightly aided the air circulation and helped the humidity.

The position of the pub, it is easy to walk into York from here. The room was fairly large, our room looked out over the beer garden, the bathroom was large and the shower good. Obviously being a pub we could walk down to the bar and have a drink if we wanted to. Breakfast was included in the price, you didn't have to book just turn up, Plenty of options for all, we had the full breakfast which was very nice. Car parking was free around the back which was great.

The only one thing was noise from some sort of machine kicking into power throughout the night, I am a light sleeper so maybe thats why I heard it, nothing else was an issue.

Great pub with well kept beer and a vast selection of whiskies. The staff are welcoming and friendly and instantly make you feel at home. The bedroom was clean and spacious, TV & WiFi faultless. The food was cooked to perfection and plentiful although I would've liked a larger pie. Breakfast is first class and the gentleman who served us was again really friendly and efficient. Check in is strictly after 3pm, if you turn up early then settle down and enjoy a drink or two. Location for York is just perfect, an easy walk to the Shambles or the Minster and surrounding. Car parking is free on site and quite spacious.

Our room on the front was quite noisy due to traffic and the lack of double glazing, earplugs are well worth taking with you.

All good @ The Rose & Crown. A great proper pub with a good, clean, comfortable room. The breakfast lived up to the reputation and reviews - excellent. All of this at a good price. The staff were just great with a keen friendly sense of humour. It was also quiet after hours and not too noisy in the morning given it is on the inner ring road. A great location with an easy stroll into town and the railway station.

If forced to be picky.... I just wasn't there long enough to try the dinner menu which boasted the best pies in Yorkshire! The room was great and perhaps just lacked a box of tissues in the room / bathroom.
