We had a lovely one night stay. Check-in was easy, staff friendly. Plenty of staff working hard. Staff were pleasant and made us feel welcome. We didn't eat in the pub because we had an evening meal booked already, and the masons arms were not open for breakfast. The food that we saw all looked lovely. The pub was really busy and a lot of people were eating. Probably need to book on a weekend. The place is opposite a wetherspoons so we went there for breakfast in the morning. The place is in a good location, walking distance to everything, but taxis are easy to get if you can't walk far. The rooms are small but have everything you need and more in them. There is a kettle, tea, coffee, milk, sugar, hot chocolate, and biscuits provided. Shampoo, conditioner, and shower get provided. Also and iron and ironing board. We didn't spend any time in our room. It was just for sleeping and showering and one night, and it was great. It was a cold day on arrival, and the heating was on in our room and bathroom, so it was nice and warm. The room was very clean, and it even had a little fridge too, as well as a flat screen tv on the wall. We didn't watch it as we didn't get a chance.

Everything was brilliant. We were more than happy with our stay and thought it was great value for money. When we were handed our keys, we were told about the gate being locked at 11pm and given a code to type in to get through the gate to get up to our room. That was really straightforward and easy to do. However, we were not told what to do with our keys on check out as the pub didn't open till 12, and check out was half 10. We never thought about it until locking up. We just posted them through the letter box of the pub before check out time.

Decent rooms, a pub with plenty of character & a nice beer garden around the back. Staff on arrival were spot on & the place was busy which we took as a good sign, so we decided to stay and eat here and the food was 10/10. The location was perfect for us (2 couples) & there's free secure parking for approx 5 cars.

It wouldn't put us off staying again, but unfortunately my car was too big to park or turn around in the tight area & I didn't want to block any residents in (my choice). Therefore I had to park in a Council carpark which was next left, only about a minute walk away, but it was expensive.

The room was quiet, ok a little dated here and there, but very clean which is always good to see. Plenty of tea & coffee (and biscuits!). Whilst small, there is plenty of storage, hangers and accessible plugs which is a plus. The food in the pub was fabulous; big portions and really tasty. Staff helpful and friendly and service was great. Car park is small, but manageable and nice and secure at night. Location is great, easy flat walk into the centre, and Wetherspoons is across the road for breakfast.

There is no escaping the rooms are pretty small. We had room 2 and it was very tight to get in one side of the bed. You also access the room via external wrought iron stairs, not sure what that would be like in bad/frosty weather..not a big issue for most people, just factor it in when you book if you have any mobility problems.

Friendly staff, we arrived a little early but were given room key and able to leave our car in their car park. Pub is in a convenient location, about a 10 minute walk to the city centre. Although on a main road, the rooms are at the back and not at all disturbed by traffic noise. We had a Sunday lunch there, which was great...generous portions, reasonably priced. Wouldn't rule out staying here again if in the area

Car park is very small and it was not possible to leave our car there beyond 1pm next day. There is a pay & display car park nearby however. We totally understand their position, it is just one thing that is a little bit of a shame.

The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was great. No problem getting a good night's sleep. The inn is also only a short walk from the city centre and everything we were there to see and do.

The room was a little smaller than we expected but this didn't really cause a problem. WiFi signal was very hit and miss and, while we were pleasantly surprised to find a mini fridge in the room, it didn't seem to work very well.

Perfect location for a short break in York, only a 5/10 minute walk into the centre and a Wetherspoons across the road. The car park is small but secure & a bonus that it is free. The room was lovely & warm in the freezing cold weather.

There was no dressing table in the room to do hair/make up so had to sit on the floor in front of the mirror. However it is understandable with the room size.

Cosy room in the courtyard. Lovely and warm on a very cold night. Spotlessly clean. Great, well stocked hospitality tray. Good quality bedding and towels. Comfy bed. Slept well. From arrival staff were very welcoming, warm , friendly and helpful .Great location. Would definitely stay again.

On site car park small and tight but manageable with care. Gates locked at night so very secure.

Quiet and private, perfect for us both to relax.

Nothing to dislike. The room was so hot through the night and we didn’t know how to turn down the thermostat. Think we would have complained if it was too cold…we slept with sheets off and inner door open … don’t think we can complain overall as being warm is what’s more important. Thank you 👍😊

Fabulous location with free parking included. We stayed in room 4 which was cosy and had a very comfy bed. Tea/coffee making facilities were included as well and refreshed every day. The staff were so friendly and very welcoming when we went to eat in the pub in the evening. The food was excellent.

There were no negatives, everything was excellent.
