Great location, quiet but easy access to centre and facilities, restaurants etc. Fridge in room an added bonus as was complimentary water. Rooms are decorated beautifully and are very comfortable and quiet.Breakfast was fantastic and staff were all accommodating, special mention to the lady who heads up the breakfast service, really lovely, welcoming and efficient - really well run with the booking system and food was amazing! If you read this please can you let us know what kind the bacon sausage and black pudding are as they were super tasty! Will be back 😊 especially with a cheeky discount 😉

Drinks were too expensive in the bar, we expected to pay more but not quite that much. The view from the room wasn’t good but hey didn’t spend much time looking out the windows when stunning York is on your doorstep why would you?!

Comfortable, well-appointed room. Good breakfast selection. Friendly staff, especially at breakfast in the dining room.

It proved impossible, despite repeated attempts, to get across the message that I did not wish to have my room serviced daily. Surely it is now normal practice to ask guests to reuse towels and to choose how often they want the room cleaned? On a recent trip to Denmark and Sweden, I was pleased to learn that they service the rooms only on request. In the light of the climate crisis, we all have choices to make. The automatic daily delivery of two single use plastic water bottles was another cause for concern.

Breakfast was always tasty and the staff were very accommodating to dietary needs/preferences. Location was central so easy to get to restaurants/attractions etc. Front Desk staff were very approachable and helpful when you needed any extras (toilet rolls, toothbrushes, towels etc).

Room could have been cleaner- was dust behind the bed and on windowsill. Some of the furnishings were stained- duvet (under cover) had a large stain, some of the towels had yellowish stains. (everything was clean but just could have been a bit cleaner).

Cheerful, friendly and helpful staff from check in to check out - the hotel had a nice comforting aroma on all floors The room was nicely laid out with good decor -none of the furnishings looked old or tatty. Bed was extremely comfortable and big. Bathroom also with nice decor - not tatty or old (nice styling) shower also nice and generous in terms of shower head/volume of water - complementary gels/shampoo in big bottles (not little fiddly bottles) and luxurious Hotel is 5 minute walk from the main part of town - ideally located

This is the second stay at Hotel Indigo. The beds are always very comfortable with ample bedding and pillows. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Modern bathrooms with little touches of nice shower gel etc. The location is good with the added bonus of off street parking.

On both the days the breakfasts were a little disappointing- first the meat and egg seemed undercooked and then the porridge the next day was bland. I did mention this to the host and she told the chef. Just not quite what I expected from such a good chain. The continental aspect made up for it.

The hotel is beautifully presented and very clean. You are met with a very warm and friendly welcome. The room was a twin and was large, bright and beautifully decorated. The beds were extremely comfortable with luxurious bed linen. Tea and coffee making facilities were available and toiletries were supplied. A continental and English breakfast (or both) along with many other options (I would recommend the avocado and poach egg on toast) are offered and unlike many other hotels I have stayed in previously, was very tasty and plentiful. The hotel is in a fantastic location just a couple of minutes walk to the center of York,

There is no onsite parking. However there is a carpark available only 2 mins away from the hotel. I was shocked when I was Presented with a £15 bill on check out for parking. This had not been mentioned when I booked, it just said parking is available so I presumed it was included in the price. I do not think it was a private carpark also as it had pay and display machines and spaces were very tight.

Great location - a lovely walk into the centre past independent shops, cafés & restaurants, bringing you out near Whip-Ma Whop-Ma Gate and the Shambles. The road was quiet, and you're fairly close to one of the Gates in the city wall if you walk in the opposite direction. Staff were very welcoming on reception and at breakfast. If we passed any staff on the corridors, they smiled and said hello. There was an excellent range of food available at breakfast, and it was all really well presented. Service was efficient - a well-oiled machine. Our room was comfortable, and the bathroom had good quality toiletries in it. The bottles were the refillable type, which is much better for the environment than those tiny ones you're often given. It was lovely and quiet.

Parking is a short walk away, though there are three spaces next to the hotel (which we didn't know about) where you can park up to drop off your bags and ask about availability on the hotel car park. We just used the public car park right next to the hotel one, which was fine. The window in our room looked directly into the windows of the student accommodation next door, so we kept the net curtain drawn. It wasn't really a problem for us, though. I didn't particularly like the pillows.

I loved the breakfast! There's a continental buffet but then you have a menu for ordering hot food and that means it's served fresh - much nicer than a buffet hot breakfast which is what I was expecting. The avo on toast is out of this world, 10/10. I also really liked the rooms; the bathroom and room were decorated beautifully. It was my boyfriend's 30th and the hotel had wrote him a happy birthday note of my choice on the mirror and I payed for balloons that were in the room on check-in and there were also some chocolate and biscuits - just little touches that were really thoughtful. The bed was comfy too!

Not really a dislike but you have to book breakfast in 15 minute slots - which is fine, just a heads up! There's plenty of spaces - we changed our time the night before and 9:30 was full so we booked 9:15 - so loads of spaces and slots to choose!

The breakfast and comfy beds were the highlight of our stay. The food was fresh and cooked perfectly. The beds were very comfortable. The hotel is in a great location, just a short walk from the Barbican and Shambles.

The restaurant could have a better evening menu. We decided not to eat in the restaurant as there was only Pizza on the menu. Parking charges in York centre are extortionate, not much the hotel can do about that. The hotel car park is fractionally cheaper than the public ones, I would have expected at least 25% cheaper, considering the price of the room.

Fossgate is a part of the city we'd never stayed in before but we really enjoyed this neighbourhood for its bars, restaurants and quirky independent shops. The hotel had funky decor with a nod to the industrial nature of York. There was a warm welcome and all staff members we interacted with were very pleasant.

The breakfast really wasn't that great. We tried different things from the menu each day and each day we were left a bit disappointed. Also, the thermostat in the room seemed to have a mind of its own and we woke up roasting in the middle of the night a couple of times.
