Best Western Plus Marina Shores Hotel

EVERYTHING!! This is a wonderful hotel, and I had a wonderful stay. The staff was amazing; friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I was able to check in early and check out late, which was very much appreciated!! The parking was no problem even though it is $10 a night. The breakfast was awesome! There is a breakfast room with everything you could want. The suite was very clean, as was the whole hotel. The bed was comfy, and I love the fact there were 6 pillows! And even better was there are different types, and you have a choice of what type you prefer. I will definitely stay here again! In fact, I have already booked another suite for my visit in October. I'm so very happy I found this hotel. 😊

Nothing, everything was great!!

Very convenient to all we were interested in. A little confusing as to the way the car space reservation worked. Probably more due to the presentation of the hotel through the company we used to reserve the room. We were only there for one overnite (attended a concert at The Coach House abt 2.5 miles north of hotel). The pleasant surprise was having the jacuzzi bath in the bathroom. It runs a bit loud. Being late night, I was a little concerned to bother people staying next door. Very happy to see an extra stand-alone tower fan available for use. We did not have opportunity to check out the breakfast options.

As I am not a good sleeper, the air conditioner noise drove me a little crazy. I finally turned the air off after about 1.5 hours and turned the stand-alone tower fan on. Also, for me, I didn't care for the pillows. (That is for my particular needs) Would like a choice to have one of the 5 pillows be a flatter one for my liking. I forgot to bring my own from home. There is one plug outlet on the lamp. Bring extra outlet extensions if you need to. In our travel experience, this is not unusual with lodging. I'd prefer not to have to unplug another light fixture, though, to adapt for the fan need or other charging needs.

Breakfast could have a few more selections but otherwise it was very good. Room and location were outstanding. I do think that $10 a night for parking is to much. I stayed 2 nights and having no other place to park and being 77 I had to pay $20. I think $10 for your entire stay is appropriate because you don't get any other benefit from parking at the hotel accept it's close.

Location is great and parking; staff all friendly and helpful.

The coffee in the room and in the breakfast area was terrible. The special coffee machine was great, but I drink decaf and there wasn’t a decaf latte selection. The premade coffee in the pots was just bad, no matter how much cream i put in. No creamer in room, and again poor decaf selection. I also enjoy hot tea in the morning and that was difficult to do in the room. No water available except out of bathroom sink. I was getting ice from machine and letting it melt overnight to use.

Staff excellent and very helpful. The Suite was immaculate and prepared for us as stated in their Amenities page. Each floor had a sitting area with sofas & coffee table where several people could gather. TV's in both the sitting room & bedroom that had a balcony. Our last morning, the City of Dana Point had a broken underground water main & one of us missed his shower. {Earlier I had a jacuzzi bath!} Afterward, there was NO water for the whole city block (both sides of the street). At the check out desk, folks were wondering what could be done for their accommodations that day. Congenially, Christine & Zak were doing everything possible to meet the needs of their guests! Well, Eric didn't get his shower but that's not the fault of the hotel or staff. Breakfast ends at 9:30......30 minutes sooner than I could manage due to time change constraints......however that is a very small, easily fixed detail.

Excellent location, comfortable bed and bedding, tasteful styling for the price, and the in-room spa tub (not a shower tub but a jetted bath tub) can’t be passed up when booking! This hotel will definitely be returned to for another stay!

Parking is an absolute disaster and on-site parking is NOT guaranteed despite a preposterous daily charge tacked on to the total booking cost. Pay careful attention when entering and exiting as visibility is difficult due to narrow stalls and roadways. The stalls directly on the hotel’s property also fill up quickly, forcing guests to park off-site and across the street without any directional signage for guests to follow. The particular AC unit in the booked room also struggled to keep the room cold/dry, though it was working well enough to remain comfortable. The room was cool but somewhat stuffy/humid for the duration of the stay.

Breakfast very good; staff approachable and cordial. Room was right on PCH, but the thick glassed sliding door sound proofed traffic noise. Bathroom double shower had strong water pressure. Walk to the beach was 15 min or so. The check in time was listed as 5pm; however, calling before arriving gave us an earlier check in time.

The 10 dollar parking fee. Maybe there's a way to absorb the cost into the room fee. Or maybe not. It was a tiny shock for us, but we could see that parking wasn't huge, but it was adequate. Getting there early seemed to help.

Staff was great. The breakfast is a nice perk. I like the option of not having the room cleaned every day and saving towels.

I don’t like the catwalk on the outside to get to room. Previous stay. I was accommodated this stay. Window dirty and you could smell the curtains needed cleaning and vents or filters needed cleaning in air conditioner.

The service was amazing and they even upgraded our room due to circumstances regarding the room we were in. I was even asking for that but they offered it to us and it was a blessing to see how much they cared for their customers. All of the staff members were joyful and wanted to serve you which is a surprise because it seems like a lot of people do not want to work. Overall we loved it!

I would say the parking fee of $10 a day could be removed but it is not a huge deal.

The breakfast was very good. Every day there were different egg choices,. I especially liked the omelets and fritadas. I buy strawberries and blueberries to add to my breakfast, which I keep in the refrigerator in the room. A few guests asked where I got them. Perhaps there could be more fresh fruit choices besides bananas and apples.

The fact that for a decent size hotel there is only one elevator, which is used by both staff and guests.
