Rodeway Inn San Clemente Beach

The staff was nice, saving a room when my reservation didn't go through. They were on the phone for over 30 minutes trying to confirm my reservation.

I got to the hotel at check-in time, but apparently Booking.com was down and my reservation didn't show up. I did a "sane-day" booking, but the hotel was on the phone for close to 40 minutes trying to get this resolved. Perhaps communication with properties needs to be addressed.

Walking distance to beach and San Clemente downtown area. Elevator access.

Improve the bathrooms, remodel everything. It felt like I was staying in an motel from the 1970's. Why only a tiny little 32" tv? You can buy 65" tv's for less than $300/ea now. 32" tv's can be purchased for $20 or less. The coffee machine is something you can buy for $5-10 at a thrift shop, kinda sad. Improve the microwave too. Seems like a model from a prison cell or something. Modernize everything! Call up your angel investors and ask for $5 million remodel! woot woot. More fun, easy as 1-2-3. kthx

I like to housekeeping service for my room each of two days and the stuff was very nice, friendly to me since I stayed there. The location of hotel is really good and there are some nice spot close to hotel for bunch, lunch .

The only thing that they have to work on was internet and the sounds that came from AC or etc. to outside I think. Wifi was good but sometimes getting hard to stay connected and I had to refresh it.

We arrived and discovered that we had inadvertently booked a smoking room which was not acceptable (our fault). The hotel staff/owner generously offered us a non-smoking room for the same price despite the budget booking on a third-party site. This owners generosity and accommodation saved us a considerable amount of money. It always comes down to the people.

Not bad but a little difficult to find.

The front desk staff- 2 men were so very helpful to me after what should have been a much shorter drive; turned into a full day's drive. They both went over and above because I had my booking mixed up and they solved it for me on the spot with friendliness and supporting- "We can help you" :-) attitude. I much appreciated that after a long drive.

1) The refrigerator had a "Tick-tick-tick" - it never stopped- that I didn't notice until 2:15 in the morning when it then kept me awake; all the better to get up at sunrise to go to the shore! 2) The remote control did not work for the TV. I tried to open the battery box to replace them myself, but it was too difficult for me us to open. Room # 213. 3) They should consider washing the windows- I had an Ocean view- but the windows were quite dirty, and for safety, the window only opened a few inches so I could see the ocean only through a crumby window glass.

They say "First impressions are the most important", well, our first impression/contact was the reception desk, and we were made to feel welcome and appreciated as guests of your property. Upon check in, recommendations were made for local dining, night life and the availability of local transportation. We were treated like family.

An on-site dining option would have been nice, but wereally had no complaints.

My one-night stay at Rodeway Inn was excellent. The gentleman who checked me in was as nice as could be. When I told him my plans had changed and I would be alone, he moved me to a King room on the ground floor (which worked out fine for me). The deposit was far less than the website indicated, which I greatly appreciated. The room was clean, but if you're the kind of person who looks for dust under the microwave, you'll find it. The bathroom floor under the sink (way back by the wall) could use a good steam cleaning to thoroughly clean the textured tile, but overall the bathroom was very clean. The room was quiet and I enjoyed a very peaceful evening at the hotel. My son joined me for dinner, which we picked up and ate in the room. Having a refrigerator and microwave in the room was great, and there was enough coffee provided to fill my big traveling cup. Just a heads up - the "condiments" in the bathroom were only one small bottle of shampoo (plenty for two or thee showers) and two bars of soap. No conditioner or lotion, so if you're planning on using hotel-provided things, keep that in mind.

hair dryer and coffee maker did not function well! we brought our own so did not report it until after we left. The staff said they would’ve exchanged them had we let them know… I definitely believe they would have done so!

I like the location and the basement elevator to the parking area. For an older property its decent and comfortable beds. I stayed here before and would come back again.

Noisy neighbors, but they finally became quiet. The lights in the room are very very bright and too intense! I had to use the bathroom light as the light for the room. Must wear a mask to the lobby office. Restrictions were ended for masks.
