Holiday Inn Express San Clemente N – Beach Area, an IHG Hotel

The general room size was very good. We were glad to find extra pillows and a blanket in the room. The bed was comfortable and the seating on the couch was comfortable, too. The breakfast was terrific, and the woman who worked in the breakfast area the first 5 days we were there worked efficiently, and she was super friendly and helpful. The hotel was so clean, the lobby area cheerful and welcoming, and the desk staff helpful and friendly. Location was good for us. I also liked that the hotel is fairly small. This was a very good experience!

I HATE the trend for such high beds in hotels! I'm a 5'5" woman, not short, and it was really difficult for me to get into the bed! Same at all hotels-ugh! The hand towel bar directly in front of the sink was awkward to say the least. Also, there was no towel bar for hanging bath towels, so we had to swing them over the shower curtain rod to get them out of the way. Awkward! A larger bathroom would have been better. Alternatively, a sink/vanity area separate from the toilet & shower room would have been better.

Loved the pool, breakfast, clean room, and wonderful cleaning staff. They are so thoughtful! It's a great location, great price, and the traffic is not too loud. Overall somewhere we will definitely stay again!

The front desk staff is less than considerate. They quoted me the wrong price for my total stay, charged my card, and then surprised me with another charge 5 days into my stay. Apparently they had misquoted me. The check-in receipt that I signed dis not have a total at the bottom, and I felt like the whole thing was shady. When I went to confront the desk later on about the two separate charges, they made a bunch of excuses and then went on to blame my bank. I've stayed at several hotels through the years, including another Holiday Inn, and I've never had separate charges for a stay. The whole thing was ridiculous. They were very condescending in their response to the situation. I was just simply trying to understand, I had no intention of not paying.

i wish they would include feminine products in the bathrooms however I’m aware they aren’t a given however if you call the front they do provide them. Also the wifi connection isn’t too strong. however it was

The bed and sheets literally felt like clouds, and the room was spacious, comfortable, very nice and clean. Patio view was ok. I liked that it felt private and you could still see the sunset if you looked to the left. LOVED staying here, the complimentary breakfast was legit af too.

Could kind of hear the rooms next to and above us. Clearly could hear the hallway, would have been nice if the rooms were a bit more sound proof if not totally sound proof. Other guests were kind of obnoxious in the hallway and it made me slightly uncomfortable hearing them through the door that clearly. Made me feel like I didn’t have the privacy I was hoping to have during my stay.

Very clean, excellent breakfast, rooms were cleaned daily. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Location made us feel like we were in an oasis.

Surrounding neighborhood is not very walkable. Hotel is situated atop a hill with a long driveway, next to the freeway. I’m sure the hill and driveway keeps out a lot of unwanted transients. I just wish the surrounding neighborhood had better walkability. That is my only complaint!

Room was very quiet even though a major freeway was very close. Additionally, the room had a refrigerator and microwave plus coffee maker. The room was spacious and even had a small accessible balcony. The breakfast offered lots of choices: fresh fruit, juices, bacon, scrambled eggs, cold cereals, etc.

My only gripe is the parking lot, it could have parking spaces a little bit wider.

Large, clean room, good enough for a family of four. Breakfast was good, with a good variety of products. Pool was conveniently located and a very good size for families with kids. Very close to freeway, yet hardly any noise from traffic.

The reception area is very spartan, and there is no lobby per se, just a very large hallway that could be easily furnished for a homier look.

Mostly Everything! Staff was efficient and quite personable, friendly & helpful beyond expectations! Felt like best friends after 6 days! The breakfast provided was more than expected and offered a great variety! Comfy pillows & linens! Secure, private garden/forest-like parking lot w/basketball hoop even! Allowed early check-in.

Slight distant traffic noise at night, solved by closing balcony sliding door, same w/any cigarette smoke in air when standing on balcony.

Clean, ( also nicely decorated ,) friendly staff, Kevin, Catt, Patrick all three greet me like a personal friend they’ve haven’t seen for awhile, personally I LOVE THAT, it makes me feel like I’m coming home, to a familiar place with friends waiting. My job takes me everywhere and I don’t have the pleasure to stay anywhere for extended times, so I want / like the friendly feeling I’m given when I walk through those doors. I enjoy the pool, it’s always clean, and a perfect temperature, my room clean, comfortable bed, ( it’s the perfect firmness,) That’s another reason why I constantly will come back, a good nights sleep. Size of my TV is just like “home”, also it’s at a perfect height, I’m not stretching my neck up to look at it. I must have and love having all the room amenities, refrigerator, microwave, coffee/tea maker, ( with coffee/tea supplied) perfect for me. And then we have a hot breakfast, dining area is always clean, food is delicious and diversified for I believe the pickiest of eaters. Thank you fir your high standard, it’s predictable, I rely as well as count on it, it’s one less thing for me to worry about when going through my check list. Thank you, Laura

I only wish you had a TV guide, it’s my one day a week to enjoy a pool and TV, only I never know what’s coming on or when, and I’m a little disappointed when I constantly am channel surfing and fine a good movie that’s been on awhile, if I can’t start it from the beginning , it’s no fun to watch. So please consider adding a TV guide or at least something that will tell you what’s on , on the channel your currently paused on, as well as when it started , when it’s over and what’s next, so I can plan out my time more efficiently. I landed here after leaving palm desert to escape the intense heat. Hate AC so having a balcony with functional slider was perfect...and it was 40 degrees cooler. Unknowingly I brought covid with me..although fully vaccinated. Room 305 doesnt have a view per se...but it was the quietest room I've ever been in. Close to ice machine. Staff was more than kind offering to help me get food since I was traveling alone. Felt highly guilty about taking tylenol from kiosk one night as I was stupid with fever and forgot my credit card in my room for the auto pay at kiosk. Went back several days later to admit I took without paying and offered to pay. Front desk person said not to worry but I insisted on paying anyway. Bed great..sofa bed also comfy...a first after traveling through 16 states and 60+ days on road . Nice towels and linens. Bathroom small but highly doable for one. Always carry my own pillow but always find HI pillows with soft and firm labels are spot on. Ditched the quilt because it was too heavy/hot but kept duvet cover on bed Have not checked out breakfast because of no taste or smell but front desk clerk offered to fix me a plate. I declined his kind offer and had family drop off protein drinks at my door as it was all I wanted And they were able to extend my stay for a great price. This particular hotel will always have a special place in my heart for their kindness. I'm from Hawaii and have worked in hotels. This one is excellently managed.

Parking stalls are small..lots of bigger vehicles taking up two stalls. TV remote just gave channel name..no guide to tell you title of program you are watching and what is coming up. A minor inconvenience since I spent 5 days holed up.in my room..see reason below.
