Captain's Inn at Moss Landing

We loved, loved. loved our experience at Captain's Inn. As the pictures show, it is an antique house with private rooms and baths and a common living room and snack room. Staying over a weekend, we expected to hear others in the house, but wonderfully, we didn't. Folks in other rooms were quiet and soundproofing was good. From our room in the back, we could hear, but not see the ocean, but we could see the Moss Landing slough and lots of birds. There are several areas outside great for sun and bird watching. There was no staff to relate to on site, but they were easily reachable by phone/text, and we kind of liked that.

Travelling in late February, the weather could have been better. The only disappointment was that behind the Captain's house, there was another rental, managed by the same folks, that we did not know about in advance. There was plenty of view to the north and the south, so we were not very disappointed. We loved the place and will come back.

Very Quaint Inn located in Moss Landing. You can whale watch go horse back riding or go for a walk to the beach(about a 15 min walk). Owner was responsive and attentive. The grounds are well maintained and you can access several porches to watch a sunset. I stayed in the Admirals Wife Room and was pleasantly surprised to have a soaking tub. Bath salts are even provided, Nice place for a couples night or a quiet retreat. I was surprised to learn they offer a variety of rooms that you can select. One option can accommodate up to 6 people so contact the owner if you would like more info to arrange a party visit. Also some rooms have waterfront views.

The room was quiet, clean, and cozy. The atmosphere was relaxing. I liked the quiet hour rules and the binder with detailed and helpful information. I also appreciated the contact with staff confirming the reservation. It was great that we could leave our car in the parking lot for a few hours after checking out--much appreciated.

The room was small, and there were only two coat hangers in the wardrobe. I wish there would have been a tea maker in the room, not just a coffee maker. I would like hot tea in the morning. Check-in times could be earlier than 4 p.m.

Loved everything at Captain's Inn. Our room was Sanctuary in the Boat house building, the view from the big picture windows was beautiful. Bed was very comfortable, and the room was impeccably clean. The fireplace was great at night after temperature dropped. Wifi was also pretty good. The terrace right by the Boat House building was the perfect place to relax and watch the sunset over slough. Location was also perfect, it's with walking distance to all the great food in Moss Landing, and only a short distance driving to the beach and the Elkhorn Slough. Will definitely stay there again whenever we are in Moss landing.

The whole check in process was easy. A code was texted to us morning of so when we arrived we got straight into our room. The views of the marshy area was outstanding. It was perfectly calm and quiet. The bathtub was great. And the bed themed and fun was super comfortable. The cleaning staff was amazing and attentive. It was quiet and no traffic sounds too made it even better.

The location, the big power plant is definitely a eye catcher right across the street and the drive to more active areas was not well planned. Anything we needed coffee or things its 30 minutes to get toanywhere. In the room the bed was comfortable and if your short it's fine they have step benches provided your going to need it. But the coffee maker and mugs different line up well would recommend bigger cups because the cups over flowed with the 6oz the kcup automatically made . Also there isnt a shower. The handle in the tub didn't work so it was just baths for 3 days which is okay but you have to wash the sand off in the tub so it make for a clean up.

The location of the Captain's inn is absolutely gorgeous. Tucked away behind some wetlands, the opportunity to see wildlife is endless. If you are an avid birdwatcher or a lover of nature, this hotel is definitely for you. When we first entered the room, jazz music was playing on the tv and the room was very tidy and clean (an excellent first impression). The room is nautical themed and the hot tub was a great temperature. The man who assisted me on the phone with the inn information was very helpful and kind. The beach is about 2 minutes away from the inn and there is a cute little general store and some shops nearby. To eat there is the Whole Enchilada and the Haute Enchilada. We only got to eat at the Whole Enchilada but the food was tasty and the environment was lovely. For a morning coffee or tea, I highly recommend the Power Plant, a cafe about 1 minute away from the inn in the same parking lot as the Whole Enchilada. The ambiance in the cafe is unique and there are food and bakery options and even pies. This inn is magical and it was the perfect place for a getaway trip to the beautiful California coast. I could go on and on about my experience at Moss Landing and the captain's inn. It will definitely be an unforgettable experience.

Because of Covid-19, there was no hot breakfast available but it was not too much of a concern because there are options around. Hopefully, in the future, they can bring it back.

everything. it was so cute and quiet. so much ocean decor. loved the common areas and how there wasn’t anyone hovering around. rooms were amazing great view and loved that there was epsom salt and bath robes. also the tv had netflix and Disney+ as well as dish channels. binoculars in the room and a deck of cards. pre packaged ice in the common room fridge with the ability to store food if needed. nice to have the microwave to heat up our leftover take out. everything was so laid back and relaxing. 5 min walk to the beach

nothing. minus the mix up with the inn not being able to process my credit cards at first. fixed overnight no biggie

The Inn was tucked away in a quiet peaceful location off of hwy 1 close to the harbor. The room was clean and fresh. Loved the picture windows over looking the river with a seating area equipped with binoculars to observe the wildlife . We saw a harbor seal, otters and tons of birds. Also loved the soaking tub. The bed was very comfortable. I can't say enough about this place. We are looking forward to a return trip in 2022!

The only thing I could possibly complain about is the tv. I was unable to watch movies, only live tv. It wouldn't connect to internet. I didnt bother calling office, not that important, just watched live tv.

The room and property really make it more than just a comfortable stay, as it adds a level with their theme of being at Sea. The rooms are spacious and have a number of great features; from the fireplace, to having a window wall overlooking the beach horizon. Provides a stunning view of the sunset, and also came with a set of binoculars to bird watch if you’re into that!

Self check in, but the phone support was extremely helpful.

Everything was charming, although our particular room was a little small. It was fine for our purposes, however, but in the future we would like to stay in one of the river view rooms. Everything was clean and convenient and was apparently devised with much thought and consideration for the guests. Check in was easy and chatting with the other guests in the common rooms was delightful. We are looking forward to returning.
