DoubleTree by Hilton San Diego Del Mar

We were staying in DoubleTree Del Mar second time and we really enjoyed everything there. The room was everything we needed, we loved the pool area, it was not overcrowded, just few people relaxing. The pool cleaner gave our girl pool toys that some other guests left behind, so we had a real good time. The hotel has a restaurant and bar where you can have a drink or light snack in the evening. Location was perfect for us. Lots of nice restaurants close by, Torrey Pines state beach.

Complimentary coffee in the lobby would be nice. As we were not having breakfast in the hotel, would have been nice to grab a coffee and smth light from the mini market downstairs.

I appreciated Alyssa the front desk staff was welcoming and friendly. She went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. She answered all of my questions with a smile. She took her time to show us where and what to do my first day ever in San Diego which turned out fabulous! Our anniversary was this week so she gave us Hotel credit to use at restaurant. Our room was clean and great view of pool. Despite our first day coming was a hurricane coming and pool closed at 2pm we still had an amazing time 😊

Didn't have a do not disturb tag on door, yet room wasn't cleaned and coffee wasn't restocked. Biggest issue was not that trash wasn't taken out but the opportunity to have coffee restocked was missed. Also, toilet had issues flapper might need to be replaced kept running off and on all night. Didn't make formal complaint since it was a short stay. Housekeeping was nice when I ran into them but when I'm out of the room at 9am and return at 11 at night not having coffee the next morning is a bummer. And for some reason me paying with a separate credit card for parking gave a 100.00 hold on my card?? Not sure why 40.00 for parking would require a hold???

The hotel is very nice and has an amazing pool/ bar setup. Me, my son and my brother had a nice time swimming in the pool and warming up by the fire pit afterwards. We had a good time. We had a two queen bedroom and it was spacious and nice. Location was great! 5-10 min drive from lots of local restaurants.

The heater in our room was a wall heater type and the cover for it fell off. I was able to hook it back on it barely because it looked like the clips were broken. It still worked but that thing was heavy and didn’t want it falling in my don. could of been a liability issue. Also there were only 2 main elevators in the lobby We got lucky most of the time where we didn’t have to wait too long but when there were a lot of people it took long.

Nice clean establishment. There was an onsite restaurant that stayed open pretty late. Not too many options though. Lovely pool and jacuzzi. Fire pit and outdoor bar. The room was fine.

We arrived late. So front desk staff was not very friendly. We were not even offered a cookie. Requested a refrigerator and microwave for the room. Only one was in room and we were not advised about it. Air conditioning motor is very loud. But room was hot so we had to deal with the noise. Ice machine broken. No trash in bathroom. Again was this an oversight? Few stains on bedding that ws not noticed until the morning. One looked like blood. Had to ask for more pillows. Soft and flat

We loved the location of the hotel as it was 20 minutes from pretty much everything we wanted to experience. And just a short drive to a beach! It was also nicely updated. The add-on breakfast option was great and so was the service. It could use a little variety from day to day as we had the breakfast buffet every morning so it got a bit repetitive, but still was good, hot and fresh. The pool and hot tub were great and there was a nice fire pit to hang out by on the patio.

I really hated the bathroom door in our room. It's a very heavy pocket door that my young kids couldn't open and shut by themselves. Even I had issues with it. Upon arrival the room was not stocked with enough towels for the guests occupying the room or had a bath mat for the tub so we had to ask for more towels immediately and used a towel for a mat. They also charged a daily fee to park your vehicle in the parking lot which I guess is something a lot of hotels are doing now, but this lot was open to the public and offered no safety features. I don't see anyone checking for parking permits and the lot had garbage strewn about that didn't get cleaned up our entire stay.

check in was easy. the beds were super comfy and I gave back problems. the water pressure was excellent. the linen and towels were nice. I will stay again. really comfort of the beds is the most important and I give the beds 10/10.

The room wasn’t as clean as I would have liked. there was hair on the light shade and I dropped medication between the bed and night stand and when I reached for it I found beads left from previous visitor. there were no trash bags in bathroom and bedroom trash cans, I don’t know if this is normal but I don’t like throwing away trash in cans with no liner… unless it’s just paper etc..

Some of the staff was rude and non friendly. There was confusion about our bookings and different things were being told to us by different people. Some side bar receptionist threw their comments in but no one actually helped and when they should have brought a manager in, there were excuses about being new and not knowing what to do. They tried to charge us more than what the booking was for without discussing with other teammates or getting clarification.

cold water only our first AM - pipes ‘froze’ (not cold enough …hmmmm). tried to call front desk to check but phone line dead. would be best to put some kind of note under the door or email would’ve been nice to acknowledge. The front desk person kept getting yelled at - not her fault!

I love the beautiful view of the Palm trees outside of my room. The room size was perfect and very clean, the carpet was clean, the staff was amiable, and the breakfast prices were reasonable. The hotel was 20 mins away from Downtown and attractions. I would recommend this hotel to stay in and will stay again next time I visit San Diego! The Pool scenery is very beautiful and the pool temperature was just right, warm!
