Surf Hotel & Chateau

Charming place well out of town. Good restaurant and dining outside on terrace was friendly and welcoming. Room was well equipped, apart from very noisy air-conditioning - seemingly powered by a tractor engine.

Industrial noise from air-conditioning unit. Not as good as the price tag but certainly the best in town. Europeans will have trouble finding the connection with a "chateau".

Well appointed rooms close to the Arkansas River, a community park, restaurants and shopping.

Lighting in room is dim, not enough to read by in bed at night. While mountain view is lovely, it is partially obstructed by a residential building. Floor in bathroom is freezing. Maybe add a rug in there. Also an extra trash can in the main room by the TV would be great. There's only one small one in the bathroom.

The Surf Hotel is one of the most stunning boutique properties I have ever stayed at. It is beautifully designed and appointed, comfortable, and has breathtaking views and facilities. The cherry on top is Wesley & Rose… just a simply fabulous happy hour with divine food & cocktails in an elevated space. I cannot wait to go back, and will share my experience with family and friends.

Asked for housekeeping to come later in the day because forgot to put out maid service sign - just wanted glasses replaced, but they cleaned the whole room, took out garbage, made bed. Asked for early check in & late check out & they accommodated both. Heater & shower in bathroom...

Amenities - no fitness center or hot tub, spa. No drawers & limited places to put clothes in room

Really nice boutique hotel. Staff were all great. The rooms are just as pictured on the website. The restaurant is only open 4 to10, but we had good service. We only had coffee and dessert, the portion seemed small for the price.

We had a second floor room and there is no elevator so we had to drag our luggage up a steep flight of stairs. The bathroom has a very small sink area. The room overall is small. There is not much closet space.

I loved that the cottage was pet firendly. The size of the room was great, the amenities were exceptional. the room had everything we needed.

They could stay open at the restaurant or at least the bar a little longer. Thankfully we were prepared and had bought a bottle of wine. but our second night there if the bar had not closed at 9 we would have hung out and consumed more.

The room had a balcony that overlooked the river. The bed was comfortable and had premium bedding which made for a good night’s sleep. Very relaxing stay. The check in process is currently “no contact” and mostly done online. It’s easy, then you just pick up your room info at the desk. The staff was helpful and pleasant. The location to the shops/downtown area is a short walk, maybe 3/4 mi, through a safe neighborhood. The town itself is a great place to visit and I wish we would’ve been able to stay longer than the one night to explore more of what it has to offer. We also noticed that the town is dog friendly! I’m not sure about this hotel’s policy because we did not have our pups with us on this trip. It was an awesome experience!

We splurged on this hotel. It is a bit higher than our budget typically allows and what we have paid along our road trip journey. If you are used to paying $$$$ a night, you’ll find it worth the price. If you aren’t used to the price, you may still want to splurge, and will enjoy your stay.

This is a lovely place right on the Arkansas River, with a nice restaurant (good food!) with porch seating on the river. It's in the newer part of Buena Vista, and there are fun shops and restaurants there, but the old town is nearby, too. The hotel is across the street from a park, where we enjoyed an outdoor free concert our first night there. It's very nicely decorated.

It was pricey, but we went during that flurry of summer travel when it felt like we might be seeing the end of the pandemic, and EVERYTHING was pricey.

Overall this was a magical experience... such a gem. The location on the river was incredible and the deck that wrapped the building with rocking chairs was absolutely beautiful. The restaurant and overall vive was awesome. Loved the artistic touches to the menu, the ceramic benches on the outside, the food was excellent, cocktails great, all the details (cups, plates, lights) were on point... Your staff was incredible, A++++++. The room was great. Bathroom was lovely. The bed super comfortable. The wine glasses and cups awesome... the Nespresso and everything was such a beautiful touch. You might consider water pitchers to fill... and have still and sparkling taps in the lobby. LOVED THE PATIO and the furniture and lights were gorgeous. Lights all over were really great. AND LOVED THE HALL WAY. Would have loved to know more about the history and the owners.

Dimmers on the bathroom lights would be nice. Some of the furniture was a little awkward ... and some looked cheap, which did dis-service to the overall space. The pull out couch felt cumbersome in the space... maybe you can do a trundle bed instead? The coffee table felt cheap... and you should swap the mirror above the couch to over the bed and move the macrame piece above where the couch is... in my opinion. BUT OVERALL I LOVED THE HOTEL AND THE ROOM! ... lastly... the posters behind the front desk cheapened the place... you should really do prints by local artists or something... LOVED the menus in the restaurant.

We stayed in the cottage, and to be honest the photos do not to this place justice. It was absolutely gorgeous and the perfect place to stay with our son and our cat.

The bar could stay open a little later. We went to grab a drink and charcuterie and they closed quite early for a hotel restaurant. But everything was tasty
