Candlewood Suites - Pensacola - University Area, an IHG Hotel

The room was very nice; it basically had everything we needed in there. I'm not sure if it had been remodeled or what, but the facilities seemed to be new and very accommodating. I have no complaints about the room itself.

I did not like the outside of the property first of all. When it professes to be in an IHG hotel, you just look for something different. I don't really know what the IHG is referring to though, but the outside leaves something to be desired. It's a pet friendly hotel but who came up with the ideal that pets can stay in any room? You've gone too far with that. Just like there are smoking and non-smoking rooms, there could be rooms that are only for pets to stay in. I'm sure that's why the carpet hasn't been changed in the hallways; the pets will just ruin it again. It looks a mess.

The maintenance and housekeeping personnel were very friendly and displayed helpful and courteous behavior…it appeared they have great pride in working there!! Almost as if they had ownership in the building! I really was impressed with those chance encounters!

There was an acidic-like smell coming from the ac/heating unit. I reported to the front desk. The gentleman removed the Long Distance charge from my bill which resulted from my ordering. a “local” Jimmy John’s sandwich delivery. (Incidentally, the sandwich shop was provided on a list of local recommendations upon check-in). While I appreciate his removal of the long distance charge, it shouldn’t have been a charge for a local call recommended by the hotel. It was insufficient compensation for the sour (acid or vinegar like smell coming from the ac/heating unit. I purchased Bath & Body Home Fragrance to use in the room to mask it!

When I booked the hotel, I booked a standard 2 full bed room. When I got there they only had me booked for a 1 queen, which would not work because we had children with us. The staff, I can’t remember his name, he was a dark haired younger guy upgraded us to a queen suite and it was very roomy and nice. Location is right off the highway and close to food. 16 miles from Pensacola beach. The room is very plain, but has a newer modern feel to it. I actually have enjoyed every candlewood suites I have stayed in and are consistently nice and clean.

They said they have some issues with 3rd party bookings when the type of room booking comes through on their end. Thankfully they accommodated us and we ended up lucking out, I understand it was not their fault. That might be a flaw in the system.

The bed sheets and blankets were clean. They smelled fresh with no odor. The room was spacious with areas for working, cooking and lounging. They accommodated my request to be on the opposite side of the interstate.

Not sure about the area as I heard cars squealing tires late at night. I could my neighbor upstairs after midnight pacing the floors. Although everything was clean, it had a dingy feel.

There’s was no breakfast and the cookies was like mud

I booked a two bed room and when I got there they gave me a single bed room so I went back down to tell the hotel agent and he checked my reservation and told me booking. Com booked my reservations with what is ever available terrible of Booking. Com I will never book with them again

The hotel was very nice- the cost was high for what we needed- had almost full kitchen-anything you needed for cooking and eating in- we could not take advantage of this because of our schedule. Would recommend.

The cost was high for our needs but that was our choice.

Felt very homey and was impressed with the spaciousness and cleanliness.

It must rain every single day in Florida! Seriously, we had a very enjoyable stay and managed to commute to where we needed to be between showers.

The suite was amazing! Clean & had a full functioning fridge & microwave, even a stove top! They also had free dvd rentals & so much more !

The bed listed was listed as “king size” It was a queen sized which made sleeping very uncomfortable.

it was a nice suite with a kitchenette.

I booked a room with a king bed but all that was available was a single queen bed. It was comfortable but not what I expected. Also no breakfast was provided.

The location was nice the hotel head a great deal of amenities no I was not there long enough to enjoy them I was more than happy that they were available, most of the staff was very respectful, polite and personable

There were no USB ports in the room so that was a downer but other than a leak in the bathroom this property is amazing, I would try them again
