Ala Moana Hotel - Resort Fee Included

ala moana hotel felt like a luxury experience without the luxury price tag. everything was very clean which contributed to the luxe feeling. bathroom was very nice with a large marble sink and generous counter space. beds were extremely comfortable. having a starbucks in the lobby was amazing and the pool was beautiful. the ala moana centre (mall) next door was very useful. parking onsite was much cheaper than it would have been in waikiki - having a car makes things more comfortable but that said the hotel is only a 30min walk from waikiki night life

bedroom area was a little small/cluttered with furniture, but not a deal breaker!

The breakfast has no option for people with dietary restrictions. Very few vegetarian/vegan options: 2 choice of fruit, bread, cereal. But no soya/almond milk, no oats, no lactose free yogurts. I expected more from a 4* hotel. Also the breakfast was the same during our 5 days stay, no variation. The stuff from the restaurant was quite rude and unpleasant at times, especially during the seating process. Lifts are inadequate for the hotel size, during our stay and it was a nightmare getting up and down the lifts in a timely manner. The room is quite small. Kitchenette missing basic items such as toaster and kettle, common items we had in other hotels across USA.

great location near the beach and other hotels and of course the mall. The room was clean with very friendly staff.

The pool area really could have been designed better. The pool is 3ft-9ft. Who is really swimming in 9ft!? There was no way to really enjoy the pool among other guest not to mention the kiddos. If your in a group and want to take a dip it’s not worth it. If someone on your party is short or can’t swim that well don’t even bother. Having a friend standing in 3ft which was roped off with splashing kids and then floating around in 5ft hoping not to slip into 9ft wasn’t fun at all. Probably nothing the hotel can do about it now but it’s just a waste. The pool was my biggest disappointment.

Location was very good; close to Wakiki but not in the middle. Next to mall. Easy access with car. Walking distance to everything you need. A little information on parking. It is expensive and free parking is rare in this part of Honolulu. The hotel has a USD 34/night parking which is probably the most convenient. However, there is free parking at the mall next to the hotel except between 10 pm - 4 am. There is also free parking across the street (only about 5-6 spaces) all day EXCEPT 3.30-5.30 pm. Another great option is the dead end circle very close to the hotel towards wakiki where there is about 50 free street parking 24/7. We managed 10 day at this hotel using just the free parking options presented. There is also free parking in the area just east of the hotel but then the walk will be like 5-10 minutses (but compared to the 34 USD/night it is most likely the better option.

Clean, tidy & modern rooms. Pool area is fantastic. Gym is a good size. Sauna is currently still not in use. There were ice machines on each floor and filtered water stations. Card activated laundry was great also. we loved that it connected straight in to Ala Moana mall also. we had the breakfast buffet also and this was good.

The only thing was there was no cutlery or pates of any sorts on the rooms - this would be handy for snacks etc. had to ring house keeping and they were able to provide some plastic cutlery.

Hotel is in a really great location close to the Ala Moana shopping center and also to Ala Moana beach (which I think is better than Waikiki beach anyway). The hotel was clean, modern and the room was in good condition too. Didn't use the pool or the restaurants so can't comment on those. They were also able to accommodate my request for early check-in which was very much appreciated.

Parking is tight in the underground lot (although it is limited in what the hotel can actually do about this, and the staff where very helpful when it got full there one night). Seems they have that same issue with the line for 3pm check-ins (which is why I was so pleased I could check-in early).

Location is OK: close to shopping center and convention center. Rooms were nice and clean. The fridge, microwave and coffee machine were a nice bonus. Breakfast service was excellent. Staff was really friendly and helpful.

The distance to the beach is just a bit too far. I found the rooms a touch too small for my taste. It's a huge hotel so it feels a bit less welcoming.

The breakfast buffet was one of the worst I've ever had. Nice enough cafe, well run, but the food was mediocre at best, the selection limited, some items quite poor. How is it possible to cook such rubbery, tasteless pancakes?

Great location and very friendly staff. We attended their private beach which was not super busy on Labor Day weekend.

We booked our stay for 5 nights that "included breakfast" for an additional charge per day. When we went to the restaurant, we were notified the prepaid buffet only included two adults and did not include our 15 year old grandson although we stated on the reservation 2 adults and one 15 year old child. Nowhere on the room rates did it state the buffet only included 2 adults.

Great ocean view room on high floor! Close to Ala Moana shopping center and beach park. Located In between the Kakaako district and Waikiki, so there are plenty of fine restaurants and entertainment.

Parking is quite expensive.
