We booked the Original Springs because my son wanted to stay in a haunted hotel. Everything seems to be original in the hotel, the beds were nice and comfy. AC unit kept the room very cold also. There was a ton of dust and stuff under the beds but other than that it was clean so that was not a problem. The staff was very nice when we checked in. My son and I did wander down the halls around 11:30ish but I made sure we were quiet to be respectful of others.

Only downfall was around 1:00/2:00 in the morning, the other people staying on the 3rd floor were loud in the hallway and stomping around without a care in the world it seemed.

For the mildly adventurous, this faded glory of a spa offers excellent services despite its creaky old building. We felt like we were time traveling. The building seemed structurally sound and clean. Not everything worked, but we were comfortably put up in a room with quality bed linens and mattress placed on well-worn period furnishings. The walls are too thin for 21st-century couples or business travelers, but it is a great place to bring a family for an unforgettable stay. The lobby seemed like the kind of place Agatha Christie would strike up conversations around the morning coffee. Most importantly, on arrival we were able to book spa services for the next morning at a fraction of big-city prices. The big pool downstairs is available for swimming after morning aerobics classes, and we’re glad we added on spa services the next morning. The owners are looking to retire, so if you’re passing through the area, this is the year to enjoy what remains of the last mineral springs in Illinois!

In Room 2 the floor sloped inward. We looked at Suite 205/206, which was renovated more recently and has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and level floors.

The breakfast was amazing. A little pricy. The room was clean. Needed some repairs but it's an old building. Wasn't the Ritz but we knew that going into it and we enjoyed the stay.. Saw or felt no ghost presence . Staff was friendly

T.v was small and reception was fuzzy Didn't have my shirt size and only one color.

Restaurant on site for breakfast at a reasonable price. Pool is large and clean. Staff was great.

Some beds need to be updated. Little run down but clean and seem to be in process of updating some of the rooms. Desk clerk was very accommodating and let us switch to different room with newer mattress.

The hotel is super cute. All the staff we dealt with was friendly and welcoming. It's an old hotel, but it's kept up really well and it has a lot of character. I would 100% recommend, and would stay here again if I am in the area.

There was nothing I didn't like about this place.

I enjoyed having a restaurant on site. I enjoyed all the spa amenities. I especially enjoyed the nice indoor pool.

This is our third visit. We will be back however .. I would live to see this place get a true make over. It is quite dated !! Needs all new ! The spa has services, however they need to extend the hours of the services to accommodate couples. You could easily expand more services and add a nail technician for pedicures… There were no nice amenities offered that would accommodate travelers such as; Nice bath salts Goat milk soap Hair cap 24 coffee bar that offers tea and hot coco Snacks in the room such as popcorn or cookies

Unique spa experience, a one of a kind historic treasure. The staff was more than accommodating and we're extremely kind and friendly. They have pet friendly rooms and we were told some of the history of the property that was built in the 1800's. 10/10 will be returning with my family.

Not a dislike but booking.com says breakfast is $7.50 where it was more than that. Don’t recall exact amount but more like $12 and they said $7.50 not their breakfast priced for sometime so you may want to update.

It certainly isn't any competition with today's modern hotels but it certainly stands up to the era it was originally created. Being a historical building a lot of updates can not be made but when you consider the age of the building they have done the best they can to recreate the original facility and I think they have done a wonderful job. Having a restaurant in the building is a big bonus for me. The cost of using the spa/massage is reasonable if you are staying at the hotel, I'm just sorry I didn't take advantage of the spa on a daily basis.

Being handicapped not having an elevator is a disadvantage, however, the staff is more than happy to help with luggage or anything you need (ice). It would be great if the spa/massage hours could include evenings however at the time I stayed they were only open from 9 am to 3 pm.

wonderful grounds to sit in arbor areas, quiet neiborhood & location. good areas to walk, etc. especially loved sitting on the large front porch full of chairs to visit with others.
