We really appreciated the background information given about the fort and its history from a local persons point of view. It was helpful as we were unable to have a tour guide at the fort when we toured it. We so appreciate people who seek to preserved history as they have done by keeping the hotel open for guests.

We would have liked a few more options for breakfast, protein of some kind. I thought the decor in the room would be more to the style of the period of the hotel.

Frank & Cheryl were warm, friendly, and very informative. After Frank finished checking us in, he escorted me up to my room, while telling me about the history of the hotel itself, which was quite interesting. They didn't hesitate if we needed anything. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was very comfortable, with plenty of bed linens to keep you warm on what was a very cold night. The classic charm of the hotel and the shops around it will take you back in time to a much simpler day, and I often walked around with a smile on my face.

Old building. Redone to upgrade but, not to bring to modern standards. Excellent beds. Hot water slow to come but when it got there was very hot. Nostalgic look and feel. No elevator. Love Fort Scott. Would stay again next time.

Our stay at the Courtland Hotel was more than we expected. Ben and Cheryl were warm and welcoming and their work to upgrade the hotel made it a great get-away from our other weekend activities. I would highly recommend staying there and we will definitely go back for another stay.

The only negative thing about our stay was the size of the shower. Understandably small because of the history of the hotel and the way they had to renovate. I would like to stay in a different room and see if there is a difference in that.

the hotel was right on a downtown corner. The hotel was built in 1906 and still beautifully staged with furniture from that era. It had the original tin ceilings and carved wood trim around entire interior. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others.

This was the most charming, quaint and comfortable place I could have imagined. It was like walking back in time with furnishings and architecture...unfortunately not haunted. The owners are very special and welcoming... just an amazing experience! This hotel is in the heart of the city which is in a new awaking... a revival of sorts and I predict will be an amazing tourist destination when completed. A walk back in time... glorious!

The only thing better would have been to have more time. This is not a place for people who like contemporary or modern fair.

Breakfast was minimal but adequate. The hotel is located in downtown Ft. Scott with easy access to any other area of town. The owner has renovated the hotel for today's accommodations while keeping it's historical charm. We would definitely return and highly recommend The Courtland Hotel.

I liked the character and nostalgia of the hotel! The proprieter was friendly and spent a good amount of time telling us the history of the hotel and the town. I liked the location...it was within easy walking distance to restaurants. I only wish we had more time because there were a number of antique shops and boutiques within walking distance also!

I cannot say that I disliked anything. This is an antique hotel built a long time ago so I was not expecting lavish modern facilities. What you get his character and nostalgia:)

The owners have kept the property t its historic best.we were greeted personally and shown to our rooms by the owners. The place is amazing , owners showed us the entire building and gave us info only they could. I hope I get to visit again.

I liked everything including the real keys ! It was fun staying there ND I wish we could move in!

The hotel is a treat located downtown in a great location. The owner was very friendly, courteous, and helpful. I'll be staying there again in September.
