This budget motel is well kept up with a unique decor and thoughtful renovations. We enjoyed the tile floors and quality furniture. Everything worked. The room was quiet, bug-free, and odor-free. The same smiling person was on duty in the evening and again in the morning. Morning coffee is in the lobby, but the room had a fridge, microwave, hairdryer and tub-shower combination. The room was set back from the highway, so it was relatively quiet. We asked for a ground floor room with parking in front, and we were offered a choice of light or darker decor. Across the busy street is a large Dillon’s grocery, and both fast food and sit-down restaurants are nearby.

The continental breakfast in the lobby was just grab-and-go pandemic-style with prepackaged granola bars and bottled juice or water.

First, the owner was SO friendly. One of the friendliest hotel owners that I have talked to along our journey. That right there was worth staying. Then.. the room.. it was immaculately clean. We had NO problem walking barefoot around the room. Our feet were still clean. The beds were comfy. The hotel as a whole was fantastic. Would DEFINITELY stay here again if in the area!!!!

There was nothing I didn't like!

Two queen beds very comfortable. Open space and not cramped. Dressing/vanity area separate outside of the bathroom area and spacious for both of us. Appreciated the extra space in the bathroom area also. It gave us an interior safe space during the tornado watch going on in the area. The desk area gave us flexibility not only for working but for snack set-up. Appreciated being on ground level with parking right in front of our room.

The mounted lamp between beds needs replacing, temporary tape fix not attractive nor effective. The heating unit might need some adjustment, the unexpected temperature drop with the change in weather necessitated turning on the heat and it did not seem to stay on through the night tho the thermostat and timer was set.

Comfortable ground level room. Quiet, air conditioned. Very close to bus transport to Lawrence. Shopping centre across the road. Laundry facilities available. Wonderful hosts. I was a complete stranger but they assisted me and satisfied my preference for a ground level room.

My only complaint is that the internal room telephone was not working.

If you would appreciate a lovingly kept "retro" motel, this is for you: spotless parking area full of carefully tended flower beds, huge ceramic flower pots, very quiet (slept with windows open; best mattress on my whole my month long trip).Pleasant, accommodating staff, would go back in a heartbeat. Those who like to find fault will complain about the scanty breakfast, but did you come to eat or to shower and sleep? Many thanks to the staff! Karl

Room size was great. Bath counter had plenty of space and bath had rails and low entry point. Bed very comfortable.

Arrived late and sign on door said to ring bell. Rang several times with no one coming to entrance. Finally called and quick to answer and came out promptly considering it was around midnight. Breakfast was just a grab and go with some fruit, coffee and donuts/rolls.

Location was good, near KU. Great for the price. I was looking for a clean, comfortable, less expensive place for an overnight stop. This “fit the bill.”

Phone didn’t work.

The location is good - places like gas stations and restaurants are not far away, and there is a grocery store almost directly across the street. The check-in and check-out processes were quick and easy.

It was hot when I was there so the A/C unit had to run almost constantly. It was definitely noticeable, but not loud enough to keep me awake

Location is great. It is close to I 70 and a half hour walk or 5 minute drive to the downtown where there are wonderful restaurants. The rooms are nothing fancy but comfortable. It is older and doesn’t feel cookie cutter like chain hotels. You can park right outside your room.

They don’t serve a breakfast but do have coffee in the room.

Bed was very comfortable.

Need to have housekeeping and maintenance do better job. Mildew in tub, trash can had not been emptied. Dirt on outside of tub. Plug in falling out of wall.
