Friendly and responsive staff who were happy to help answer any questions I had. Location was pretty good, with street cars outside or a 20-25 minute walk into the French Quarter. I didn't take the street car, as I enjoyed strolling into town each day. Food readily available next door, with Courtyard Brewery or the Avenue Pub within a 5 minute walking radius if you fancy a good selection of beers. The Quart(?) is The Quisby bar, and also offers some good drinking options without needing to leave the Hostel. I stayed in the 4-bed shared accomodation room.
Mileage may vary when it comes to your fellow guests; generally a very positive experience, and never felt unsafe - but as to be expected with hostel stays, you'll probably be woken up once or twice as other people move around and enjoy their experience. So just keep that in mind!

Some of the staff were VERY nice (notably Ms Annamarie and Mr Tom). Very much enjoyed all of our conversations and how welcomed they made me feel. They are personally the reason I would return to the hostel (especially since it seems like the two of them are holding that place together). Beds are comfortable, unlimited sheets and towels (if needed), nice breakfast (although the hostel often runs out of food and never seems to order more, but that is a management issue). Overall, a great place with great atmosphere
Not a deal-breaker, but personally, I felt a bit of the younger staff/management were "inexperienced" when it came to how they talked to people and their cleanliness, but I understand in NOLA, as I have lived there before, it is the "cool" thing to be rude, so, I did not take it personally. But I know a few of the guests did. Also, the showers need curtains or doors. The bathroom floors are ALWAYS wet (and therefore, moldy). Not the fault of the facility manager, as this seems like an intentional design choice by ownership.

Room (we stayed in a double with own shower) is clean. Next to side street but relatively quiet area so no night noise issues. Walkable from Amtrak train station. One of the famous streetcar lines is right in front of the hotel so convenient to get to famous sites east and west in the city. The vibe of the guests is cool; added atmosphere from the ones hanging out in the lobby - the hotel bar (extension of the checkin desk) is open really late, and guests get a free drink (I didn't use it this time).
The included breakfast was nominal, and I skipped it except for the black coffee. The immediate area around the hotel is somewhat depressed; the walk to the Amtrak train station would take you past a bit of the homeless tents that are sporadically around the city.

The location was perfection as it was super close to the garden district which is where I mostly explored. The cable cart was just outside and the airport bus was blocks away .. the rooms were spacious clean and comfy .. The reception staff were all super nice/ friendly & the breakfast was a bonus
1 of the night managers was the rudest ever. Check in was suppose to be 3pm as per online but she said she’s in charge and she says 4pm. You couldn’t ask anything if u needed anything when she was working nights and had to wait for the next manager to start at 11pm. It wasn’t just me who felt this way. A lot of ppl were saying the same thing. She shouldn’t be working there at all cause it defeats everything of her role

I stayed at a female dorm with four beds and it was great. Everyone had a locker and the bed was really comfortable. The room was really spacious. Shower had a enough pressure and Shampoo/Bodywash is free. Breakfast was totally fine for a Hostel … coffee, cereals, scones, donuts, water and also fresh fruits like apples and oranges. It’s also possible to get orange juice for free but you need to ask. They also had a bar and a washing machine. It costs 5$, the dryer is free (and worked really well) and detergent is also free. The location was okay. It took like 20minutes to walk to the French Quarter (or you can take the Street Car) and the hostel is basically next to the Garden District (my favorite District) The cleaning staff was really great. They’re cleaning the rooms every day. Also the people at the desk were nice and helpful (but unfortunately not everyone) My favorite part were the blackout curtains and the comfortable bed and the free coffee and fruit during breakfast
It’s quite a big hostel with lots of guests and for that there’s not enough seating in the lobby during breakfast One staff member (a young woman) was not so friendly and seemed to be quite bored and without motivation. She listened to music several times and looked at her phone rather in paying attention. The fridge smelled really bad and there’s no cooking option or even a sink in the kitchen. Only a microwave.

We were 3 generations of our family women who booked a room to share. It worked out very well. The place was clean with comfortable beds and clean bathroom. Bunk beds are not my favorite but my granddaughter didn't mind the climb! :) The breakfast offered was sufficient and the coffee was good. The staff was very friendly and helpful to answer all our questions. The location was excellent with public transport right outside the door and walkable to some good restaurants.
Can't think of anything else that anyone would need.

Hi! Amazing location first of all, and for the price I paid for, I couldn’t asked for more. The night I checked-in, the reception guy gave me a free room so I was by myself, and on the other night, one more lady has joined me, but she had an early flight, so she just slept the whole time. It was my first time staying in hostel, and it was totally worth it!
The fact that a lady walked into the room at midnight and apparently did not like it, so just smashed the door and went out :))

The welcome drink was a fun surprise and it was nice to have a 24-hour bar in the lobby - especially for 2 females traveling together. Lots of locally-brewed beer in addition to the harder stuff. Friday's breakfast was the best- cheese and cream of wheat and all the fixings. Wednesday's breakfast was spartan....I think maybe Friday is the replenishing day for supplies. The rooms and towels were really clean and the shower nice and hot! We flew, then had a rental car and there was free parking nearby. After parking, we did most everything via public transportation, which is available quite close to the Quisby. GREAT LOCATION!
I've got preface this part of the review by confessing that this is the first time in 15 years I have not brought my own pillow while traveling, and my traveling companion does not agree with this part of the review. The pillows were really hard (synthetic material and not squishy) and the beds not the most comfy, but I totally get why they weren't tip-top quality. The less than 5-star hotel comfort level was outweighed by knowing that if a visitor threw up on a pillow, I think they'd throw it away and the bed had a coating that made it possible to wipe down and disinfect it. I really appreciate that.

The location was perfect. It's located only 2 blocks away from the world war ll museum and not far from Mardi gras world museum. The breakfast on the last day was outstanding. The beds were extremely comfortable. I got to see all of the parades because Mardi gras floats went by our lobby window. Guests are even given a free drink.
Everyone was gossiping about a guest who urinated all over the other guests stuff. Mardi gras day was a little too exciting. I asked for a lower bunk bed but I was given a top. Irregardless, I had a great time.

I love with my live the staff and most Annamarie, she's amazing and made me feel like in home every time that I saw her. The breakfast.is the best for us who are traveling. The room is beautiful like the bathroom and everyday clean the room. Really is too easy arrive to both sides of the city only using the bus.
I can't find a reason but I could say that they can be better with the laundry, I mean you didn't know if you could can do it but it's okay if you're there just for a couple of days.
