Commander Hotel & Suites

The view of the beach and boardwalk from the balcony was great. You can see all the activity and close walk to stores.

This is not the hotels fault, but you can sit on the balcony for as long as until someone starts smoking or vaping on another balcony. It ruins the air for this rest of us, but this is also along the boardwalk.

we loved the location, the set up of the room was perfect for our family, the fact we could grab breakfast, lunch/dinner & ice cream right at the hotel was a plus since we were traveling with our kids. staff was friendly.

our room could have been cleaned better. the floors still had quite a bit of sand on them, you didn’t want to walk around without shoes on and the bathroom had toothpaste on the walls. none of this impacted our stay at all, I live at home with 3 kids so it didn’t bother me haha but if you’re looking for areas to improve housekeeping would be one.

We loved the location and how the hotel sits on an angle. It is the coolest thing it reminds me of a boat but I don't actually have to be out in the water I'm on land!!! It's actually a great place. The staff was awesome! We will be back most definitely

The only draw back was the very obnoxious slamming of the doors. They really need to losen them up or something because every door slams so loudly behind you and it's not a peaceful or pleasant sound all night long or early in the morning.

The Commander Hotel has been remodeled and has an oceanfront/ocean view building and a second building of hotel rooms, called the Cambria building behind the oceanfront building which was cheaper per night as it is non oceanfront which is where I stayed to save some dollars and these rooms have also been remodeled somewhere around 5 years ago, not exactlysure. Beds were comfy, mini kitchen stocked but i feel like a room with a mini kitchen should have at least a 4 cup coffeemaker instead of these silly one cup coffee makers. I paid for the kitchenette so i could have my own coffee immediately and make most of my food in house and was hoping to have a real coffee maker....Otherwise it was totally fine, bathroom clean, etc. Please put at least 4 cup coffeemaker back, customers hate these silly little ones all hotels are using now! The walk from the back building to the beach is only 1/4 block more than the beachfront building

I liked the set up of the room, how spacious it was the view, the Housekeeper I had assigned to us was Amazing and so Sweet her name was Kadeaa, as I made it a point to hand her a cash tip at end of visit and capture her name so she can be recognized for a Great JOB!!! Would of liked too see a continental breakfast offered, although Grottos right their is Amazing ans Tony's Pizza!!!

Would of been great if had a continental breakfast for families and the Umbrellas to not have an additional 15 cash charge. Would of liked to see the option to pay for it with reservations and or add on with a credit card as most people don't carry cash on them.

Great location. Overall size of the room was good. The balcony was nice and you can’t beat the view. The pool area was clean and had adequate seating. Pool bar is a plus but they could stand to swap out the entire drink selection. Staff was friendly and accommodated our few requests quickly. Free chair usage for the beach.

The room setup is such that there isn’t a lot of room in the bed/dresser area. Kind of hard for two people to get ready at the same time in that space. The luggage carts are big, which is nice, but kind of hard to maneuver.

Even the "seaside" room had a beautiful view of the ocean! The hotel is surrounded by different restaurants, casual or fine dining, walk only a few steps to the boardwalk, and the beach. No beach chairs needed as the hotel provides them on the beach. Staff was very helpful and nice. Lobby was clean and comfortable. Plenty of fun activities to drive to locally- boating, paddle boarding, kayaking, kangaroo yoga, shopping. We did it all in 4 days. Will be back next year for longer!

Very nice and clean hotel with balcony and this isn't really a complaint, just a suggestion, but they could do a better job at making sure guests don't smoke pot or cigarettes on balconies. It happened a few times, but didn't happen enough to affect our stay or opinion of the hotel. Just a suggestion to stress the importance of not smoking around kids and people who don't smoke.

Everything was fine.

We did have some trouble with the air-conditioning in our room. Seems like it would switch from heat to cool, back and forth, and we couldn't adjust it. But since we were not in the room that much, we just tried to ignore that little problem. It really wasn't much of a problem because when it started to get too warm in the room, it would automatically switch to cool again., and do that off and on. Very weird, but it was not a big problem.

Location was great (right on the boardwalk and beach). Our room was city view, however we still had a limited partial view of the ocean, which exceeded my expectations. The room size and amenities were great; it was super helpful to have a full-size refrigerator vs. the smaller option that is typical. The outdoor pool and pool bar was nice and everything was very clean!

There is a $20/day parking fee. Online when I booked, I thought there was a table and 2 chairs featured and there was only a couch and side table in our room. We moved some things around and made the side table work (also ran out to Wal-mart and picked up a small camping table), which worked just fine for eating meals, playing games, etc. The couch was pretty uncomfortable... we only used it for sitting, but I can't imagine that it would have been better being used as a bed/pullout couch/bed.

Location to the boardwalk & beach was perfect for us with a 2 year old. Outdoor pool nice & not overly crowded any time we went. Parking was sufficient and easy. Our room had two balconies a larger with a beach view & smaller with pool view. Room was a comfortable size and enough for our little guy to have space to play. The pull-out couch worked wonders and was enough space to feel "separate". Room service team was great with towels & extra waste removal (kid in diapers). We loved that we were within steps of fractured prune, grotto pizza, & an ice cream shop. We also thought it was cool to have the free bike rental & free beach chair.

I don't want to say "didn't like" ...but my perception of reading the description of our room describing "kitchenette" we assumed it would be a separate little sink for dishes & a larger refrigerator; from previous experience at other hotels, but it was not...BUT the "mini" fridge was actually more accommodating than a normal mini fridge - we got several drinks, snacks, sandwich items in. It did have a little countertop area (with coffee maker & toaster & microwave) enough to make our beach snacks etc.
