The view from the room to the beach/bay was beautiful. They offer 5 different options for breakfast that is delivered to your door for the time you requested between 7 and 10 am. There is a beach with boat dock where you can rent boats, jet skis, kayaks and paddle boards or you can enjoy an indoor pool.

The parking lot was right on the main road and could be troublesome to get out of at times, also, this is obviously out of the hotels control but the fish flies were bad our first night and we left our light on and the window to the patio open and our patio was covered in dead bugs the next morning. Nothing a little spray off couldn’t handle though!

I loved the private beach and the balcony rooms. the rooms were very nice and clean. I loved the colors of the hotel as well as inside the rooms! the staff were very nice. The little store inside was nice as well with good snacks!

I didn’t like the breakfast process. I would prefer to pick all of the items with my breakfast. For instance, I would have liked to be able to pick the breakfast sandwich, a couple hard boiled eggs, a yogurt, etc. Instead, I was only able to pick one “entree” item, and it came with a fruit and a water. it just did not fill me up. I would have preferred a buffet style to be able to actually pick everything I wanted because of the money I was paying to stay there.

Location on the East Bay is great. Staff is very nice and welcoming. Pool and spa were nice.

There is a boat rental on the property, they (staff) play music on the boats very loudly early in the morning. Some of the music is derogatory. That is not the vibe families are looking for at this property. Rooms and hallways were not as clean as you might expect. Bathroom floor very dirty. They say they give you a "curated" breakfast. That turned out to be packaged sausage muffins (like from Costco). You would expect better food at these prices in Traverse City, foodie capital.

I liked that the first floor was walk out to the beach and there were plenty of chairs and lounges available for use. Beachfront was clean, the view is slightly obstructed by a dock and was the location for boat and jet ski rentals, but if you moved a little further down on the property you could avoid this. I was happy there was an outdoor rinse for sand before walking back to the room. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Indoor pool was clean, warm, and never appeared crowded. Staff was friendly and accommodating.

Breakfast delivery, beach access

We did ask for rooms close together when we booked months prior and although our rooms were somewhat close (different level and hallway) my only complaint would be in regards to our arrival. Staff greeted us with "hi. two rooms? yeah the two rooms arent close together. Nothing we can do about it." Also had a question about loading bags and were cut off and told "ill get to that." - which was totally fine and we still enjoyed our stay! however, if you're looking for feedback- no big complaints overall but, for those that don't travel often, it would have been nice to have a little more kindness upon arrival. It does set the tone in what to expect from your stay

The staff was great, from the kind, the young man who checked me and the support staff who made our stay effortless. The pool area was immaculate, and generous hours with the last hour being adults only. The arcade was a delight and a fun moment with my business partners. Pool towels were available at the front desk and always ready and available. The lovely lemony, clean-smelling. toiletries and ample room towels were a helpful touch. Everything was beyond valuable. I would be remiss not to mention Melissa. She is a real problem solver. I shared that I inadvertently booked a Family Suite without a view. I asked if I could pay to upgrade to a room with a view. She took a look for a moment and said, "I don't have a Family Suite with a view available but I do have a corner unit with a King and a Queen bed. Would that work? I explained that my business partners are also my daughters, so that would be fine. I asked about the cost. She replied, "There will be no extra charge." Now, maybe the rooms were the same price. Still, this was my error. She chose to represent Sugar Beach, by being kind and helpful. My girls and I have a vacation rental business. We highly recommend staying here. :) Thanks SBR!

Facility was clean and the location was great. Love the beach and the pool and hot tub were nice (when not mobbed by children, but thankfully from 10-11pm only adults are allowed)

The included breakfast was a joke. While it was delivered to the room, which is nice, the quality was not at all what I expected, especially to the tune of the $847.48 for 2 nights! It consisted of an apple, water, OJ, and a muffin (think Otis Spunkmeyer not freshly baked) and the sausage, egg, and cheese stuffed biscuit was a frozen Johnsonville that you had to warm up in the microwave. I have stayed at youth hostels for $20 a night with real hot breakfasts included. This was beyond disappointing - especially for what we paid. Terrible value.

Comfortable beds and pillows. Nice indoor pool and hot tub, and a great beach. The "breakfasts" were more like snacks that were ordered the day before and then brought to your room at the time you choose. As long as you're expecting a breakfasty snack and not a full breakfast, it's actually perfect, and they were good quality too.

Drain in bathtub did not work, and after they "fixed" it, it half worked. Good enough, but it would have been nice if that worked properly.

Very beautiful spot, in a great location for all needs. Beach was amazing and just what we wanted. Definitely would consider coming back to Sugar beach in the future. Pool was awesome, especially the adult only hour. Good time to relax and enjoy each other without kids. Arcade was fun too, set the record on Galaga too!

The drain in our shower, room 129 would not drain during a shower. By the time i was done my feet were completely submerged. That was my only complaint.

This hotel is beautiful. It was extremely clean, the rooms are huge, and the beds are very comfortable. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the beach and since we were at the end of the hall our room also had a window so we could see the sunrise. Breakfast was delivered to our room at our chosen time. The pool is large and kids are kicked out at 10 so adults have the pool and hot tub to themselves until 11. Coffee and hot chocolate are available in the lobby all the time. The shower supplies smelled nice and came in larger packets than the typical tiny bottles of shampoo and conditioner that hotels normally supply. We were very impressed with the winter rates at this stunning hotel.

I'm not a fan of eggs so I was a little disappointed that the breakfast sandwich had the egg and sausage mixed together rather than separate patties.
