It was like staying in a historical museum. But then again, it is a historical home. The home is a museum, and all the items in it are so much to see. There were a lot of small amenities that were around the home that you could use at your leisure. Richard knew a lot about the family and the history of this home. Every morning, he had breakfast prepared for all of the people and usually a nice story behind what we were having. If there was something that could make your stay there better, Richard would do his best to make sure it happens.

Since breakfast is the only meal, unless you had a vehicle, there wasn't anywhere close to get a meal without delivery.

Incredible place to stay and incredible host. Alexander Mansion is an experience in itself. We arrived very late but Richard was incredibly accommodating and welcoming. The hallway entrance was breathtakingly beautiful. We were offered a choice of wines in the parlour and we unwound there before heading to bed. In the morning we were served the most amazing four course breakfast. All lovingly homemade. We sat at a big dining table and had wonderful chats with Richard and our fellow guests. An experience to remember.

The breakfast is fantastic - not only the food but also the total experience. As a guest you are very much waited on and your every need is considered by the staff and in particular,Richard. There is also a wonderful interaction between all the guests as you are all seated at the same table.

I can't think of anything that needs to be improved. It was a lovely experience at the Alexander House!! I especially like the large screened in porch. I spent several hours enjoying the afternoon and evening relaxing and conversing with family.

5 coarse breakfast was exceptional! And ice cream for dessert! What's not to love?? Jealous that the neighbors get Richard to be their neighbor! He was soo kind and helpful to all the guest..especially a woman from out of state picking up her new puppy...telling her directions,giving her confidence, etc.

Didn't like that it was too chilly to enjoy the beautiful front porch! But it is November!

Richard was above and beyond the most hospitable, organized, accommodating, and personable host I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Everything during our stay was an unexpected 10/10 from the meticulously curated perfection of this Victorian Gem, to the marvelous four course breakfast he prepared for us in the morning! Yes, I said four course, lol. We will make it a point to travel back to Winona just to stay at the Alexander again.

Richard is possibly one of the kindest people I have ever met. When we called to confirm our check-in time, he was so friendly, it made us even more excited. The space itself is so iconic, and you can see the attention to detail in every aspect. The breakfast was phenomenal, and it was so fun to talk to and interact with the other guests before we left.

We didn't book an extra night! If we had had the time, we would have stayed a week!

A marvelous and elegant breakfast that started at nine o'clock with all the guests seated at a long table in the dining room and kept coming, course after scrumptious course, enlived by conversation, Hisuntil eleven o'clock. At check-in, we had a glass of wine and a chat by the fireplace about the history of the house, followed by a tour. All in all, staying here was an immersive experience.

Parking is cramped.

Richard, a most gracious host, welcomed us with warm hospitality even though we had to check in late. He told a bit of the history, gave a brief tour, informed us about the schedule and facilities. The breakfasts (2 nights) were from another era! From the opening parfait, to the closing breakfast sundae, the food, company and ambiance were first class.

I wish we could have stayed longer. Otherwise, there were no negatives.

10/10 experience. Everything was amazing. There is so much love in the house and every decoration is thoughtful and cute. There was a yummy bedtime drink and chocolate. There was tea and games and books. The bed was comfortable and there was a soft quilt and comforter. The breakfest was incredible and kept me full all day. There is ac in every room to keep you cool.

Proprietor Richard was such a wonderful host! He was very attentive to all the guests' needs. He was also very knowledgeable about restaurants, shops, etc. in the area. Also, he had a wonderful library that included lots of history on the mansion. The five course breakfast was delicious.

It is located on a busy road, but with the windows shut and the air conditioner going, we weren't bothered by traffic noise. Sitting in the the downstairs screened in porch was noisy.
