La Fonda on the Plaza

Beds were super comfy, room was clean and the decor throughout the hotel is a nice mix of historic and upscale. We visited on St. Patrick’s Day, and had a blast dancing with the locals in the lounge!

We had a strange experience with the valet, he offered us a Fresh Dog bed and bowls for my dog. I called housekeeping about an hour later and they basically said that they don’t offer this option anymore and we’re trying to take some thing for us. we did not receive the dog bed and bowls, or a follow up call throughout the stay. Not a huge deal, but the communication was strange between the valet and housekeeping. The drinks were good and male bartender very nice. food was mediocre hotel grade.

I requested quiet room of adequate size. Room was on first floor by kitchen on exterior alleyway. Awakened at about 12:30 by loud argument with staff. Then noise in hallway. At 6 am dumpsters for construction immediately across alley were emptied, then heavy machinery for construction. Very tired the next day. Staff very responsive and quickly moved us to an interior room on upper floor. Much better!

Great location and facilities. Breakfast especially good (food and service). The same restaurant for dinner was only average. Helpful staff. Room was efficiently cleaned on request. Parking expensive but very convenient as it is effectively in the same building as the hotel.

Like at many leading hotels, the ground floor common areas have been given over to stores (or to display cases advertising stores). It's a shame when the common areas would otherwise be more pleasant and reflective of the history of the place. There are plenty of great stores in Santa Fe already.

Our 5 th floor room had a beautiful view and we even got a glimpse of the sunset. We were very disappointed that the bell tower bar had just closed the day before we got there. The breakfasts at the French Crepery were delicious. The main dining room for dinner was also very good.

I wish the main bar in the lobby had had more food choices. Also was disappointed that there wasn't more information about the hotel itself and what it had to offer. An information packet would have been wonderful and some information about the history would have been great! Also the transportaion from the Santa Fe airport into town is very sketchy at best! Travelers need to warned that the could very well be stranded at the airport on a busy night with no possible way to get into town.

La Plazuela restaurant was below standards. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we arrived at 7:20 and were told the table would be ready in a few minutes. 35 minutes later we were seated. Soup was served lukewarm. Drinks were never served. Waiter said , oh I forgot. Entrees arrived and were not hot either. No offer of dessert. we saw the waiter 3 times in the 90 minutes we were in the restaurant.

This property is right next to Loretto Chapel. We could park our car in the parking garage and walk around town without needing our car at all. Because of COVID, there was no daily housekeeping but if you needed anything- towels, tissues, tea, shampoo- you could call and they would bring it up to you and, I would imagine, request a cleaning and they would do it upon request. My five year old and I were on a Fall Break road trip through New Mexico. This property was larger than the others we stayed at so it seemed less personalized but location-wise, it was great and certainly very Sante Fe in style, comfortable, clean, and nice.

Someone else had mentioned the shower not having a door and this making it hard to warm up in the bathroom and I have to say, that got in my head and I found it true, too.

Staff were lovely, excellent location, and the restaurant and bar were really great (such wonderful food). The Bell Tower roof bar is particularly awesome.

Not super clean and definitely overpriced. Our king room for almost $300 per night was tiny (didn't have seats, table space, or closet space for two people), had one small window, and there was no bath. Would have expected more from a fancy 4-star hotel for this price.

A lovely historic hotel with great art throughout, a lovely restaurant, situated perfectly for walking to everything, and a comfortable clean room. The staff were all very nice and helpful.

It was unfortunate not to be able to go in the bar and get a drink. I understand that is covid related. Getting out on the rooftop deck took 90 minutes of waiting after being told it would be an hour, then we were told we only had 5 minutes to make it back upstairs or we'd lose our table. We were walking in the plaza while waiting. The hostess was obviously frustrated with her job. Communication around the waiting list process needs improvement.

Great location on the central Plaza. Very good restaurant, lively and friendly bar, curated original artwork throughout, warmly elegant decor, well maintained, on-site parking.

They were short-staffed (apparently due to covid), so popular venues such as their rooftop bar required an hour wait to get in and then a long wait for service ( we gave up!) in such circumstances it would be nice to give hotel guests priority but they did not. Spa was also closed (apparently due to covid).

Everything about this historic hotel was remarkable. The staff was gracious and friendly from the housekeepers to the parking attendants, check-in, and restaurant staff. Wanona checked us in and was especially friendly and helpful with information. She was efficient and made us feel welcome. The hotel and room were lovely and felt clean, inviting, and had modern amenities while remaining true to the historic history of the hotel. My husband's Great Grandfather build the hotel in the early 1920's and we had never seen it. We were thrilled to stay and experience all it had to offer. The French Bakery on premises was a highlight as well to the hotel restaurant. The food and service were both impeccable. Thank you for providing such wonderful memories for us.

The main entrance was a bit dark, but everything else was spectacular.
