While Queens is the largest borough in terms of area and second largest behind Brooklyn in population, it isn’t where most visitors stay when they visit New York City. However, just across the Queensborough/59th St. Bridge from Manhattan, the Long Island City neighborhood has in recent years become home to many new hotels that are attractive to visitors who, usually for monetary reasons, opt not to stay in Manhattan.

An easy subway or taxi/Uber ride into the city takes just 10-20 minutes depending on the mode of transportation chosen. An added benefit is that all these featured properties below are also just a short taxi/Uber ride from La Guardia Airport.

The Long Island City and Astoria areas of Queens are a popular alternative to staying in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Especially for travelers who want to save some money and are seasoned subway riders from other cities they have visited, these Queens neighborhoods could be just what your wallet is looking for.

Additionally, choosing to spend your final night in New York just 5 minutes from the LaGuardia Airport terminals can instantly remove the stress of getting up and out the door in the morning. This is especially true if there is rain or snow in the forecast, or it is a regular workday. Both areas highlighted in this post are preferable for getting to LaGuardia Airport in a reasonable amount of time than a Manhattan hotel.
