Whitman Motor Lodge

I needed to travel to Huntington on business and made a non-cancellable, non-changeable reservation (through another travel website) - but the day of my trip, the person I was planning to visit contracted COVID. I called the hotel to tell them I wouldn't be able to come, I knew I wasn't entitled to a refund or credit, and that was fine. Betty helped me change my reservation without and change fees, anyway. That's service above and beyond! I had been apprehensive about trying a moderately-priced hotel that wasn't a "brand name," but it checks all the important boxes: Clean room, good bed & pillow, user-friendly/effective air conditioner, free internet, outlets & USB connections, the water tastes good, the shower is easy to operate, good towels, and (though there are only 17 channels on the flat-screen TV) a readable channel list on the dresser. PLUS, management that went the extra mile for me. I've stayed there 3 times since that "non-cancellable" incident.

My grandmother mentioned multiple times how comfortable her bed was. The hotel staff was so polite and welcoming every single time I spoke to them on the phone and in-person. We were so pleased with the abundance of towels that they gave us.

My grandmother put her slippers in the cupboard under the sink and the sink leaked through the pipes to soak her slippers. They weren't permanently damaged so she wasn't too upset, and the staff at the hotel was very apologetic and was sending for someone to fix the sink.

The place was clean, the staff was friendly, and the room was comfortable. The mattress was a tad more firm than what I generally prefer, but for what I paid, the place was simply superb.

The coffee machine was broken, unfortunately, and the garbage pails were very small. Still, can't blame them for the coffee machine. You could tell the staff wasn't pleased about it either, and as for the trash, well, room service was prompt to come and collect it in the morning. Left a small tip for them under the pillow.

Plenty of room for the little ones to run around. Neat and clean. All staff were so friendly and it was the perfect location for the purpose of our trip. Close to a park for the kids.

It would be good to have chain locks on the door. The little ones kept opening the outside door. Also could use some Kleenex and paper towels in the room. Napkins and salt and pepper in the coffee/microwave area would have been nice.

Betty, the front desk manager was a gem! She was so warm and friendly! We were also greeted warmly by all other staff members. Our room was ready early, was clean enough too. The shower bottom was stained so it appeared dirty. But it was just how it looked.

Our room had a smell of some kind of cleaning spray that just wouldn’t dissipate. By the time we left, I could still smell it. It was overpowering. Our room faces the busy turnpike in the front of the Lodge. The street traffic was noisy. I’d stay here again, but would request a room in back.

Location, size of the room. Staff. They have kitchenettes and you can request a microwave. So spacious, Walk-in area with T.V. and kitchenette. Separate bedroom. Would recommend and stay here again. Took me back to the times I traveled as a kid.

The beds were a little too firm. But this is a personal preference.

the two beds were very small 2 children could sleep on not 2 adults sofa bed had no linen one person slept on sofa bed no linens the housekeepers did provide linen and towels and were very good property was clean well maintained older property you do need a car coffee in the morning would be really nice

I have known about this motor lodge for years, having lived in Huntington for 20 plus years. For the price, I did not expect to find much. But, I was pleasantly surprised. Upon entering the room, it smelled fresh and clean, the decor was neutral and calming. the bed and bedding were excellent, the room had everything I needed. I had hoped it would have a tub vs a shower, and it did, I hoped it had a hairdryer and it did. It had all the furniture I needed, owing to being in a pandemic, I didn't know what they could provide. The staff was friendly and helpful, the continental breakfast great and not even expected at the very reasonable price I paid. Would go back again.

this is given as constructive criticism....... the carpet needs to be cleaned, and the caulking around the tub needs to be removed and done right.

The motor inn was excellent value for the Huntington area. I grew up in Huntington and now visit annually after moving away. We have stayed at various places in similar price ranges, and this one far exceeded our expectations. Very good lighting, very clean, mattresses were not lumpy or old feeling. Plenty of pillows and blankets and AC worked really well. We did not use the pull out sofa in our suite, so I cant comment on that, but the rest of the furniture was much nicer than expected for the price! We had an excellent stay and lovely, kind, helpful staff at the front desk late in the evening and in the morning. We will definitely use this inn again if we need to stay in Huntington. Best value for the money along Jericho turnpike and north.

The sheets were a little bit scratchy, but extremely clean and still better quality than other places we have stayed in the area.

The location is great! The hotel is right on a busy and popular main strip, Jericho Turnpike. It runs East and West through Long Island with PLENTY of stores, fast food restaurants, mechanics you name it. All within a mile of where the hotel is.it 7It's impossible to get lost on this main road!

It can get a little noisy at night with the cars going up and down Jericho Turnpike. I bring earplugs with me. Problem solved.
