Holiday Inn Express & Suites Dayton North - Vandalia, an IHG Hotel

When you enter the lobby is spacious, clean and cheerful! You get a good feeling from the get go! The elevators are easy to access, hallways are wide and over all clean. Our room was very spacious and clean. I checked the towels and bedding but found no issues. The room had a coffee maker, fridge and microwave that would be excellent for longer stays. We did not go to the pool but there was evidence it was being enjoyed by others. Breakfast was plenty with a good selection of items.

Wet kids from the pool using the elevator caused slip hazards for others, leaving little puddles behind. All thought I did let the front desk know and they had it cleaned up.

Modern, clean and comfortable. Plenty of USB and wall socket points next to the bed for charging phones and laptops etc. AC worked well. Good desk layout for working. Check in and out was straight forward. Staff friendly and helpful.

Breakfast option very limited - particularly if you have any dietary preferences or constraints. However worth noting that this lack of dietary options (e.g. plant based milks, vegetarian and vegan options) seemed to be the norm across the wider Dayton area, so this hotel did not stand out as unusual.

The property was in a convenient location for us, within 20 minutes of University of Dayton. Parking was convenient and well lit, and the staff and lobby were welcoming and clean. There were Valentine’s Day decorations around the lobby and lounge, which was a nice touch. Our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, including the bathroom, and the beds were super comfortable! The front desk attendants upon our arrival and departure were both polite, professional, efficient, and warm. Breakfast was also great, with a wide variety of options, and everything was fresh and tasty.

One staff member upon checking in was not helpful at all. Other staff members were courteous and helpful. Also, there should be a disclosure about not accepting cash payment. My siblings and I were there to attend our sisters funeral and we split cost of the room, each contributing equal sum of cash. Luckily one of us brought our credit card to make the room payment. They also charged us an extra $10 at check in, however Booking.com only provided breakdown of initial cost and no receipt was available at checkout. System needs better attention for giving out receipts.

Breakfast was standard breakfast - was included, so that is nice. Coffee cups were in hotel room which were great. Room was super clean - very comfy.

The water came out of the tap - super cloudy. My guess it is hard water. I went to go get water from the staff since we didn't want to drink the water. I had to purchase bottled water for $2.50 a bottle, even though I mentioned that the water looked undrinkable. I did have to wait a while for help by the staff, but it looked like this had just opened up fairly recently - so was patient.

Good modern hotel design, overall nice amenities, Breakfast is fine, location is in the very busy cluster of hotels and restaurants, so expect some traffic congestions. Reasonable value for the price.

In the first room, the sink drain was closed and stuck, we cannot use the sink, so we changed the room. In the second room, the fridge was really unstable, I've adjusted the legs so it became steady. The shade on the window was out of the slot, so I have quickly fixed that. Some other things we do not like are the extremely high beds, difficult to climb on, impossible to use with smaller kids. The very heavy door makes it difficult to come in/out, especially with the luggage. The view out of the window is bad. Maybe this is all industry standard, but personally, we did not like all that.

Staff was friendly, rooms clean and comfortable. The hotel is a newly built property. There are microwaves, fridges and coffee makers in the room. Breakfast was really good, lots of choices well kept and maintained. Great to know they have shuttle service to and from the airport. We did not know this when we booked but will use in the future. This hotel is walking distance to restaurants and some shopping. This was our first stay at this property and we would return.

Nothing really. We got there a little early hoping the room would be ready but it wasn't. We sat in lobby past the check In time before it was ready. We were not upset because we know most places are short handed with the cleaning staff. We waited in the lobby because at the time we had no where else to go at the time.

We had a great overnight stay. Staff were polite and helpful, room was neat and clean, and breakfast was great!

The water in the indoor pool was fairly cool, but it was cold and snowing outside and the kids still enjoyed it, so not really a complaint at all.
