A modest older classic strip motel with no frills. Lovely owners, very kind, and the place is clean and well run. If you want a disposable shower cap, boxes of Kleenex, high end shampoo, fancy coffees, a table for two, room service, and ice machine, super nice design-y finishes and linens, cutesy touches, romantic atmosphere and lots of boutique-y stores and restaurants around, go elsewhere. This place opts for the practical and comfy - such as free parking right out front and heavy black-out curtains on windows that open. We had a big old arm chair in our room this time with a firm king sized bed. We like this place for its simplicity. It’s also on a busy and fairly unlovely street, with the light rail transit right out front. Frequented by working men who go to bed early and are out before dawn - pick up trucks in the parking lot. Great coffee place around the corner, and a good Thai - Vietnamese food cart open late and big friendly well-stocked grocery store down the block. A short walk to Heavenly Donuts on Lombard. For the ladies and stylin’ gents, a very hip consignment and couture store next door is rightly called Vein of Gold.

Wouldn’t change a thing.

This was a VERY CLEAN, QUAINT, SMELLED SO FRESH AND GREAT LOCATION to everything. I am actually a high maintenance person and I felt everything I could have wanted was right there when I needed it already and didn’t need to ask for anything! We have stayed at several motels in the Portland area and this non smoking room was TRULY A NON SMOKING ROOM. Every other place I stayed at it was always a hint of smoke smell to freshly smoking, not this place. Truly this is the motel for us. I noticed someone made the comment they didn’t know why their key card didn’t work, it’s because the demagnetized so easily as did ours too, just FYI this happens at ALL THE MOTELS! Please consider this your final motel for your Portland stay, it’s definitely going to be ours. This family owned business is ran by the owners who are on site and truly take care of this place with so much love!

NOTHING… WAIT, I THINK THEY SHOULD TAKE A PICTURE OF THIER PLACE AND HAVE POSTCARDS MADE AND SELL WITH STAMPS! You could take a photo and print at Walgreens for 39cents and sell for $3 a postcard ! NOTHING THEY COUKD IMPROVE ON…

10 minute drive to Portland international raceway which was the reason we were there. Microwave and refrigerator and coffee maker in room, supermarket, restaurants, bar and metro train all 3 blocks or less and a comfortable bed and reasonably quiet. The value for money was in my opinion excellent $100 per night which is alot less than we would have to pay in New Zealand. On site car parking and friendly staff.

Extractor fan in bathroom was a bit noisy but not much different to most of the other ones are in the rooms we have have stayed in .

The staff was friendly and informative. The room was a little small and crowded with one of the beds partially blocking bathroom door. The room was clean and bedding was ample and clean The floor was clean as I wore socks that did not become stained from walking in the floor. The bathtub was a bit stained but we purchased cleaning supplies as a precaution prior to trip and completely cleaned and sanitized room and bathroom fixtures. This we did at most of the places we stayed during our trip. Other than that minor incident, everything was okay. We were there to your the city but stayed in room most of the morning after arrival. We were located in a central area to where we wanted to visit so overall this was a great experience.

I didn't really like the layout (exposure) of the motel and parking area and was a bit wary about safety and security at night.

Great value, quiet, comfortable and proximate to the venue I was attending.

The sink was a bit clogged, the bathroom door didn’t latch closed

We were visiting Portland for my Partner's birthday and wanted a place close to the bar we were celebrating at. The rooms are clean and for the value a perfect location for a few nights stay. The hotel is family owned with the family living on property in a house next door so if you need anything they are able to help.

All the king rooms are located upstairs and stairs are difficult if you're disabled in anyway. But we made it work because the value is so amazing and the owners are such nice people

the room was clean, the towels were changed every day. the location is right next to the yellow line and theres a fred meyers and a bus station down the street, with a few restaurants nearby. the wifi was really good - me and the person staying with me were both able to play online games on our nintendo switches in our downtime without any problems. the AC and heating was also easy to use and worked well. bed was comfortable.

my only complaint is that the location can get a bit noisy. the proximity to the metro line is a plus sometimes but the train rings bells every time it passes an intersection. also, the walls were kind of thin.

The rooms were clean, the mattresses were comfortable, and the staff were friendly. They even letting us check in 30 minutes earlier because we arrived sooner than we thought we would. Check out was simple as well and at a reasonable time so you wouldn't have to wake up super early after a long night (my kids were out at a concert that ended at 11 pm).

Parking was a bit tight and one of the other guests was banging against something loudly for a bit one night, but otherwise it was all good.

This was a great value. The room was pretty basic, but it was clean and comfortable. There are two grocery stores nearby. Easily walkable. Location was easy to get to/from airport and easy access to highways if you wish.

There wasn't much to dislike about the place. There was no pool or exercise room, but we wouldn't have used either one. Why pay for something you won't use?

Location - walking distance to grocery stores such as Fred Myer, some restaurants, light rail station, not far from I-5 on/off ramp, and PDX. This motel is an old one, but they always keep it clean. We have stayed here multiple times, and one room out of all smelled like some guests smoked, but every other room did not have any smells and was kept clean. The parking area is always clean and has plenty of parking spaces. Good price, too.

The surrounding area seems to be changing in recent years - mixtures of new buildings, unkempt buildings, and trash on the street. These are nothing to do with the motel, but we hope that the Viking Hotel will keep its' standard and the price remains rather affordable.
