Tru By Hilton Sumter

The hotel was perfect for my family. It was a last minute booking, but was very affordable. The location was ideal as it was located not far from the family we were visiting in Sumter. The booking included daily breakfast which included a variety of hot and cold breakfast food. The food was delicious and available at a reasonable time frame 7-10 am. The availability of coffee, tea, and hit chocolate all day was a nice bonus. The lobby area was great for lounging and hanging out. The staff was extremely friendly. The check in and check out times were also accommodating for people like us that were from out of town.

With is being a last minute booking, I didn't bring my own cleaning supplies. The rooms could use a deep clean in the corners and crevices where there was visible dust and particles. The counter in the room had a medium sized sticky spot on it. I didn't recognize it until after I had set my handbag on it and tried to pick it up. There was also a smaller water spot stain on the night stand. I know that housekeeping staff is probably understaffed and overworked. All of these issues I could have resolved had I planned a stay earlier. Again these things are minimal in comparison to the overall experience which was excellent.

The rooms were really nice, I liked the soap dispensers😂 When we asked for extra towels for the room they came quickly. They nicely put me and all my family on the same floor right next to each other.

The breakfast on our second day was horrible. The lady who was cooking was very slow, only putting out 5 omelets at a time even thought there was 10 plus people waiting. When we asked her to bring out anything or refill utensils she would catch an attitude. We were group of 7 and were told we all could go to the pool together, then another receptionist said we couldn’t. They went back and forth about it multiple times with multiple people.

The front desk staff was very polite and attentive, loved the lemon and sugar hand wash, body lotion and body wash, the bed sheets were super soft and beds were very comfy. I also enjoyed the complimentary coffee in the lobby. Breakfast was very good and convenient to take on the go.

My only complaint is that our room (214) absorbed a lot of noise for several hours both nights we were there. It sounded like people were rolling bowling balls and rolling chairs and/or pushing furniture around. Also the cleaning staff was very loud in the hallway the last morning we were there.

OMG!!! I think I have found my one only "Tru" love with this place. It is so unique and perfect for a quick getaway with the fam. My children loved it and now are asking "When are we goin back to Tru?" Surprise, because from now on whenever we travel, we will be looking for Tru by Hilton first before we make arrangements with any other hotels. Let me not forget the pancake machine!!! We are hooked. I hope that all Tru hotels are immensely the same.

I prefer flavored creamer with my coffee, but other than that even the breakfast was good.

I love that the place look just like the pictures on the website… It has so many nice stuff to do in the lobby, from playing pool to lounging in the lounge are.. my son loved the hot chocolate and tea that was available…

Only con I can talk about is that the pool are had lots of water where the seats was which was dangerous but besides that the pool was nice and clean and quite, when we went it was only me my son and mom..

The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room was nice and clean. Everything I needed was in the room and accessible. I would book to stay in that hotel again.

Everything was pretty much up to par. There were no real kinks about the room nor the hotel worth mentioning. If I have to choose something, I would day that the breakfast can bee a little better. Breakfast begins at 6 and continues till 10am. It seemed that at 9am the staff began running out of food and taking a considerable amount of time to refill the main breakfast items.

I liked the shampoo and other bath products you supplied. The room was nice, comfy bed. Customer service was great about the missing blowdryer.

No blow dryer in room but I called down and got a new one. At this point since Covid is basically ignored, to have stupid plastic gloves at the entrance to the breakfast bar is just kind of ridiculous, especially if you actually got them on and then had to unwrap the juice cups that are also wrapped in plastic. Time to change that.

Breakfast was good.

There were painters in the pool area and it was smelly from the paint. I talked to the painter and asked how long they planned to be there. I told him how long we were planning to be at the pool. He left and I think talked to the hotel staff and stopped painting. But the spray paint fumes were already there. It was nice that they could find a different place to work for a couple hours.

My son wants to move in permanently. This place is fun. They had a great patio with a giant connect 4 game, a pool table, and a fun mural and quirky furnishings in the lobby. Staff was so kind and made my son's Halloween special. We traveled for a funeral and didn't expect to find much joy in this trip. But Dee and the rest of the friendly ladies at the desk and in housekeeping made it wonderful. Pancake machine was fascinating to my kid. Breakfast had slight variations from day-to-day to make it interesting. The tea and coffee being available all day was so helpful. The charging ports in the plugs name it easy to keep a half dozen devices charged at once. It's near a wonderful Mexican restaurant, Yucatan, that we returned to on consecutive nights.

I would have liked a microwave in my room but coming down to get hot water for tea actually wasn't too bad since everyone was so nice.

Checking was extremely fast. Staff was very friendly and fast responding. Beds were comfortable. You don’t need to bring anything with you, everything is provided. The hotel was very colorful, good vibe atmosphere. The only downside was that the eggs had pork and were served with pork sausages. We don’t eat pork but there were other options so it was fine. Everything else was excellent!
