We stayed at this hotel overnight in February 2023 on a recommendation of a family member. The hotel is a new restoration and update of an older business building. It is really appealing and interesting historically with great attention to detail. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is more expensive (not unusual for downtown hotels with upscale service), but a great value in Amarillo. There is a lively street scene with walkable fun restaurants, especially if you want southwest food. We recommend Braceros.

Be prepared for some loud pickup trucks on the streets of Amarillo. Just a fact of life, which certainly did not bother us in the hotel.

When I made reservations, Jo at front desk assisted me with our stay. She was fantastic! Room, breakfast and supper were excellent. The gentleman making omelets for breakfast was super friendly. All Staff were very attentive. The Speak Easy bar was fun. We spent the last evening at hotel on the 2nd floor patio and it was a beautiful evening.

only comment is the bathroom shower water pressure is very low, but we understand it is part of the "Green" building.

Centrally located so plenty of places to eat and visit while there. They have a late night menu after the hotel's restaurant closes which is great for us night owls. The provided Internet is High-Speed Internet, which was a first for us, was getting about 90mbps down and up.

The parking was terrible. We had to park caddy corner to the hotel on the street. It could be attributed to getting there late on a Friday after Cinco De Mayo; however, whished they had enough self-parking for all guests. The provided cable TV was spotty and froze often; we thought it was the wind at first because it was windy when we got there, but it was still the same the next day when there was no wind.

The hotel's location is excellent. It is located downtown and surrounded by many restaurants and bars that are within walking distance. The room size was perfect, and the amenities offered was conducive for our stay. The designer soaps and lotions were luxurious. We ordered room service and the breakfast was filling. The staff was amazing from the valet (Kim), the front desk staff and even housekeeping. Although we are living in unprecedented times (COVID 19), the staff is making every effort in keeping their guest safe. I found just a few minor things but once I spoke with the front desk staff, the small problem was corrected promptly. The hotel staff truly live up to making guest service their top priority. They made our stay memorable. I am most certain that our return trip the accommodations will be the Barfield hands down.

One of the best hotels I've stayed in, and I've stayed in a LOT over the last 40 years. Where to start? Brilliant staff - I know everyone says the Texans are a friendly bunch, but everyone I met in the hotel was exceptional. Friendly, helpful and courteous. Room was superb, all fixtures and fittings were excellent, brilliant bathroom, the most comfortable bed I've slept in for years, great views, really cannot fault it. Decor throughout the hotel is superb, not kitsch, beautifully done. Bar and bar staff superb, great cocktails (recommend the Negroni), superb restaurant (massive thanks to the staff for the belated Birthday gift to my daughter), plus the 'secret Speakeasy' bar in the basement is a genius idea! Truly memorable, as is the City! I can guarantee I'll be back - Barfield, you are superb! Recommend it to everyone.

I loved everything - I just wish we had been there longer.

Big room and large bathroom Good location Very tasty food in the Restaurant

Body wash empty and after complaining we got a bottle of Dove as hotel ran out of their own Bodywash..... Issues with incorrect debits on our credit card were resolved in a very professional manner after involving the General Manager

Outstanding services, food and drink all tucked away in a renovated building from the 1930’s. My favorite was the “ speakeasy bar located in the basement. The hotel staff didn’t tell you there was a secret button you had to push to get inside. So my girlfriend and I waited and searched around until we saw someone come out and asked them. The bar staff were exceptional and actually had the ingredients to make my preferred cocktail. All in all it was great for a weekend getaway, especially from all the covidiocy. We will return in the summer for another weekend “romp”

The fact that we didn’t have more time to stay.

Excellent customer service, very well decorated and comfortable. Nice having a restaurant , bar, and speakeasy all in one place. great food and staff was exceptional

There really wasn’t anything I hated. However, the lighting in bathroom was very dim and shower head had terrible pressure but that wouldn’t keep me from staying again.

The hubby and I did a “staycation” and I couldn’t have picked a better place. We had never done this before so I’m sure we looked like tourists lol but we are from here. It’s a very Beautiful, Elegant place. We are doing it again for sure, and this time we will be trying the bar and restaurant that’s located inside.

The young man who checked me into the hotel was very pleasant as was the young man who carried our bags to our room. The first morning, we ordered room service and it was great! Delivery lady was very kind.

The young lady who answers the phone at the front desk could use some coaching. She was abrupt and gruff. She seemed to be doing me a favor by answering my questions and was put out with any room service order. The second morning we ordered room service, and everything was cold.
