love the double bunk beds! so comfy! the staff were really nice and the kitchen was nice and simple, location was close to public transport and the food reccomendations were helpful.

the check in process could have been improved I was waiting out the front for 20 minutes and called twice just to get hung up on. finally someone came out of the door and I got let in just to find there was no staff. I knew check in was at 3pm but I couldn’t really go anywhere with all my bags, there should be a better method so people can get into the property to leave their bags before check in time. The area was a little dodgy

Really good facilities- kitchen, amenities, washrooms. Etc. no complaints there. Double beds were a GREAT touch over other hostels, very comfy! Very clean and looked well looked after. Free earplugs around the property, and free coffee. Good cooking facilities.

Probably due to my arrival on Labour Day, but no staff were on reception despite me arriving when ‘check in’ was meant to be open. I’d drove a good while with minimal breaks to ensure I could get to the hostel for a member of staff to check me in. Had to make a few calls but was able to get in fairly quick. Small issue all in all (and again, probably as a result of Labour Day) Would prefer a dedicated outlet on the bed for charging a phone etc, but there is an extension cord to be shared between the bunk beds which worked well enough. Neighbourhood seemed a little run down and is next to a highway/interstate- but the noise wasn’t intrusive. The street outside of the hostel was kind of a construction zone- naturally shouldn’t

I liked the small kitchen area as it was a very social place, with a few facilities for cooking food. Bunk beds were a good size (more of a double than a single). Staff were friendly and helpful on the few occasions I saw them.

The staff were not there very often (which I believe is due to their scheduled hours there). This posed issues for various people who arrived late in the evening (after 8pm), and who could not get into the building due to the lock system on the gate and door. Not all travellers have access to wi fi and emails on the day of their check in and therefore would not receive the check in email which is sent on the day of check in. Quite far out from downtown and most popular sights, so do need to get an uber, have own vehicle, or check out when buses are running - on the plus side, I got a lot of exercise walking about!

The positive aspect was that despite my check-in time being at 3 pm, they allowed me to check in at 8 am, as per my request during booking. The room itself was good, with a comfortable bed. The hotel's location is excellent, being very near to Houston downtown, Buffalo Bayou Park, and the Houston Zoo. Additionally, I appreciated the stylish interior design of the hostel

I stayed at the hotel for one day and encountered an issue upon arrival. I arrived at 8 am to find the gate closed. I rang the bell for over an hour, but no one came to open it for me. Exhausted from a long flight, I waited at the gate with all my luggage for over an hour. Thankfully, another guest opened the gate as they were leaving. Upon entering, I discovered that there was no one at the reception desk. Additionally, although I had already paid for the booking, the hostel had not provided me with the gate codes.

Location was excellent, easy to get to a lot of places via walking or transit, or driving if a little farther. Check in was very easy and I felt safe here. The recommendations for places to eat and sights to see were great as well; I checked some out and they were well worth it.

It's a small thing but the bottom bunks didn't have a lot of head space to sit up. I know this isn't really a changeable thing, and so it wasn't a big issue either way. It might just be because I'm a taller person as well, and I found other places to sit too, so no worries there.

I really enjoyed my stay at Wanderstay hostel. The staff was nice and helpful, and everything was well-maintained and clean. The kitchen was well-equipped with appliances and the common spaces were very pleasant. There were some board games available, leading to very cool interactions with other guests. There are plenty of bus stations around so it's easy to get to downtown, Hermann Park, or the medical center.

It was close to downtown. Clean. Lots of attention to detail inside. Female dorms, with shower/ bathroom in the room. kitchen.

not in a great part of town but the little area where it was located had grass, and was safe to park in the street. Earplugs were provided by the hostel and they were needed

The kitchen had everything you would want, and as a brit its always great when there is a kettle. The beds were double (even the bunk beds) which was nice, and there was plenty of communal space, and plenty of large clean bathrooms. Staff were happy to store luggage for me on checkout day so i could explore some more before departing too.

The bed was fine, but felt a bit wobbly climbing to top bunk - could it maybe be bolted to wall? and privacy curtains are always appreciated. The downside with hostels can be the other residents (they can also be the highlight!), and some way to monitor this out of hours so the staff can deal would be good, as there was a difficult tenant. This is easier for the large 24hr manned ones, and understandably much harder for a small independent one.

This hostel is located in a generally safe area (bearing in mind that Houston is not a very touristic place!), easily accessible by buses. It offers clean areas, friendly staff and a kitchen area.

There were some issues with the payment and the amounts due being put on hold more than once. But after arriving to the property, the staff managed to solve it - so there is no need to worry if it happens to other people too (especially to the foreign card holders)
