Holiday Inn San Antonio-Riverwalk, an IHG Hotel

I love where they had breakfast you was able to sit down and eat a nice breakfast looking at the river. The hotel is on the quiet side of the river. Which I really appreciate. It's still a very nice location on the river but on the quiet side. The hotel is easy to find in a great location right on the river walk. You have access to the river directly from the hotel. And as long as you stay on the river walk you will get to a lot of restaurants and small shops. And if you keep walking you will eventually get to the mall. It's not too far from anything such as the mall and the other restaurants. I love that the hotel had free Wi-Fi. I love the views from the river while eating breakfast.

The walls were a little thin. But not too bad for a two night overnight stay. The parking is a little expensive. But that's expected if you want to be on the river walk. Breakfast was a little expensive for a buffet style. But then again it's expected it's downtown San Antonio.

Parking arrangements were messy. The parking is public and third-party operated, so despite paying for the space (which is not part of the room rate), they don't guarantee that you will find a spot, which is exactly what happened. Be aware of that during the weekends and high seasons.

We loved the location. It was perfect for walking everywhere we wanted to go.

The floor in our room was very dirty. If I walked barefoot my feet were black on bottom. If I wore my socks there was hair all over them. I also was not told we had to ask for room service. I really only needed extra towels so I got them at the front desk.

Staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was a reasonable extra charge but very good food for a buffet style. For a location directly on the Riverwalk we felt this hotel was a good deal as it includes on site parking in their parking garage. One side of the hotel faces the Riverwalk and you might get a room on that side at no extra cost if you request it.

A couple of homeless people milling around across the street from the street side entrance but every U.S. city has this problem now. One approached me and as I walked in the hotel front door to avoid her she swore at me...meh. I wouldn't avoid this hotel for that though, staff are aware and I felt safe on hotel property. The Riverwalk and The Alamo are relatively safe areas but I wouldn't wander the streets of S.A. at night if you don't know your way around.

The Holiday Inn was in a good location for exploring the Riverwalk. Our room was clean with comfortable beds and pillows. The shower was good with nice hot water. We had a mini fridge and Keurig coffee. Discovered a microwave in lobby we used. The breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel was excellent! Pancakes, bacon, and omelets. Great window views while eating. We also used the hot tub.

I took one star away for the bathroom not having a vent fan. It made our room humid. We did adjust with heat and air which worked. The hot tub jets didn't come on but the water was clean and a good temperature.

room w/ a balcony was nice (617). Bed was good. Housekeeping was loud in the halls (Sat. afternoon) and unfriendly in terms of room service. They also need to vacuum the hallways. There was visible trash on the carpet the entire time of our stay. I guess they chose not to see it and thus vacuum it up. These are the small things that make a big difference in a guests choices; as there are many options.

The location was great and close to events we wanted to go to. The morning breakfast was great and had plenty of selections. Thw staff other that the concierge were very nice

I needed a cab and they told me it was.close enough to walk. My wife is clearly disabled and it shouldn't matter. I just needed a cab. I wish the restaurant was open and I do believe we have gone a little overboard with the whole Covid thing considering there we several homeless people on the grounds and in the waiting area of the restaurant. I cant fault the hotel but San Antonio needs to clean up its town. This is not a place for families

The breakfast buffet & Carlos our server were excellent. I was taken aback that I didn’t have a “Coupon”, and the high parking fees. A rinse off access at the pool would be a wonderful feature especially in temperature of 104.

Nowhere to rinse off at the pool. No ease in parking for additional guest sharing downtown activities. Nowhere to eat after midnight, 4 th of July weekend. I thought the rooms had a balcony, was the impression from promo pics.

Room had a balcony that overlooked the riverwalk. The hotel was set in a location that made easy walking access to the desired attractions but at the same time was far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the riverwalk nightlife when we wanted to call it an early night.

Would like to see the abandoned building across the river cleaned up and renovated to make the view out the window a bit more appealing. More plantings and seating outside along the riverwalk would be great and make just relaxing a better experience.
