The resort overall was wonderful. It was a very well spent time with my family. We played games that the front desk provided us with, we made s’mores at the bomb fire, played with the snow with no worries and everyone was friendly.

Part of your stay are some of the complementary services they offer and speak about at check in such as the hot chocolate in the evening and the coffee being offered in the morning. We only received chocolate the night we arrived because for two nights the hot chocolate finished much earlier than the front desk had told us. Same issue with the coffee and when we brought it up to the front desk they were not too friendly about it, pretty much said well it finished, you may be able to get some tomorrow. It was a real bummer because overall everything else was great, we just didn’t get to enjoy the perks offered. Meals were not offered either and for the price we paid, it would have been ideal to at least have breakfast included. The price was a bit much, the resort has a lot of potential.

Wait staff was excellent. Hotel staff was excellent. we were in room 203 - recommend a reading lamp of some sort be placed by the two sitting chairs for reading. Otherwise the room and location was great. We had dinner on the patio. Very windy and cold. The roof should have been closed to cut down the wind; and perhaps some tall gas space heaters. Had salmon which was cooked way too much. Otherwise, we loved the resort and will be back next time for a longer stay. John McCann

Quiet. So very quiet and not an awkward quiet. Clean. Comfortable. Very comfortable. It was a nice stay and I would definitely recommend it and stay again. The room was spacious. The bed was large (king) and comfortable. Was updated with nice touches. And did I mention how quiet it was there. Peaceful.

Only saw staff at the main building/ desk. No one was around. Ice machine was broken but didn’t want to go at night down to the main building to tell staff.

Location was chosen specifically because of its proximity to friends who reside in the area. Onsite pub dining was a plus. Breakfast was nicely served hearty fare. Site computers were not properly functioning on departure; as promised, as soon as systems were up and running we were billed. A computer generated erroneous double charge was immediately rectified with a quick phone call to The Essex. Staff was pleasant and helpful at all times. Room was standard. Bed comfortable.

The hot tub area could have been a little more maintained as far as landscaping etc. but it was a chilly evening with a little bit of rain in the air and the powerful jets in the hot tub and the hot water felt amazing. Def our favorite part of our stay.

The carpet in our room was beat up pretty bad. There were a few things that definitely needed maintenance or upgrades to be charging $350-400 a night. That’s just one thing we weren’t impressed with. Everything else was great.

Very charming and a perfect place for us as we had never been to Vermont! Would recommend

Our room was different than advertised. We were placed in the corner of the residence so we only had one small window and a decent chunk of our room was cut off with an angled wall.

the spa is amazing and really nice that all of it is accessible to the guests. the food at the tavern was really good for dinner. wish those at front desk were more informative. we were not given any info about the spa or that it was available to us even on days we didn’t have treatment so we missed one who day of use of facilities. staff at front desk didn’t tell us about need to make reservations for breakfast at the tavern. In general I didn’t feel like the front desk staff really gave us much information but the place is wonderful and really really enjoyable. Perhaps front desk staff could get better training? Just to provide more information about the area and what you could do at the resort for new guests.

we came for brunch at 11:05 and even though there were tables abs we explained we were checking out abs delayed they would not seat us at the tavern because they claimed they flip the kitchen between 11-12 for lunch. however there was a couple right in front of us who had reservations for 11 abs were also a. few minutes late abs they were seated. I asked the hostess to check with manager because it didn’t make sense to seat one couple and not us when there were available tables. no one told us at the front desk about this when we checked in (the need to make reservations by 11 on Sunday before checking out). it was quite a frustrating end to an otherwise wonderful stay.

clean, great breakfast options, loved the backyard, maintenance were very kind / helpful, we & our kids loved visiting with Stewart & Penelope.

MAIN thing- The mattresses were too soft. Other- there wasn’t an outlet & side table near the wall/ other side of bed- I moved furniture. There was a red head lady who twice didn’t give my husband his change when he bought breakfast from the front desk - he had to ask for it.

The hot tub on a 3° day!! The Tavern food and drinks were excellent! The bathrobes! The Hot chocolate in the lobby & the individual Dog treat bags for our pups!

What I found disappointing was that when we ordered from the restaurant - Tavern we received plastic utensils and that was difficult to cut a beautiful piece of steak & fresh vegetables once we got back to our room. The other thing that was odd was that we could not get individual sugar packets for our coffee in our room, but they did allow us to put sugar in a paper cup to take back to our room. I'm not sure if it is due to covid as to why the utensils are plastic and sugar packets are not available, but other than that, that really is the only concernly we had.

The grounds were absolutely beautiful! Liked that our room was changed to a much nicer room after complaining about the issues of our original room.

Traveling with family. Both reserved a king room. They had a larger room with fire place. Ours was small, toilet kept running, non working fan in bathroom and faced a large antenae dish,Noisy exterior fan noise.
