Talta Lodge is a great place to stay while visiting Stowe for skiing. Located literally halfway between the downtown area of Stowe (intersection of routes 100 and 108) and the lifts for Mount Mansfield, Talta Lodge provides easy access to the slopes, as well as restaurants, coffee shops, and breweries in the area. The hotel has a modern decor, which sits perfectly with the beautiful surroundings at the back of the property. While the hotel faces the busy route 108, the property is far enough from the road that one does have the sensation of being on a roadside property, and the back of the hotel faces a beautiful wooded area with a stream flowing to complete the landscape. The indoor swimming pool and sauna are a wonderful feature after a day on the slopes. From the indoor pool you can see the wooded area and the stream which creates a relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are modern, new, beds and sheets are clean and the property spotless. The common areas, upstairs in the reception area, and downstairs in the lounge/bar area, are a great place to hang out, read a book, or enjoy a beer in front of the fireplace. I would definitely go back to Talta in a return trip to Stowe.

The bathrooms are a bit on the small size, and while many rooms feature two queen beds, the room gets a bit crowded even for a couple and a child. The music in the lounge downstairs felt a bit too loud when you are in the lounge during quiet hours, and while it serves well to provide a background noise when several guests are using the lounge, it can be distracting when one is trying to read a book. Turning the knob a few notches down wouldn't hurt. While Talta Lodge is a great place to stay, the prices do suffer from the "Stowe effect", and seem to be on the "pricey" end by the fact that this is Stowe, with all the wealthy visitors from Boston and NYC inflating the market.

The room was very small, only two lights by bed, hot tub not working. The beds were comfortable but pushed against wall which made it impossible to get in or out of without climbing over 2nd sleeper. Pictures did not show this. Also, a cleaning person cleaned the room for the next guest before we had vacated the room. Made us wonder about cleanliness for our arrival. For what we paid thought we should have better access to the bed and more assurance room was clean.

The location is quiet and beautiful. The backyard has so many places to sit and being on the river is just wonderful. Also a short walk to a beautiful trail, if you don't want to have the incline of the mountains lol. I loved the little patio outside my room, the basement lounge and pool/yoga area were great and unique, the fact that the hotel has local taps if you want a drink, the great books scattered around you can read, the gas fireplace outside, it was just all lovely. Also the staff were friendly and helpful. Sarah is especially amazing. I had the most dealing with her but everyone seemed awesome. I was very comfortable alone walking around and hanging out on the property inside and out. Felt very homey and just had great energy. I ended up booking an extra night, so a total of 4 nights, as I didn't want to leave lol. I will only stay here when I'm in Stowe Vermont again. I cannot wait to go back.

The last day I didn't get hot water in the shower but it was still kind of warm and since it was a really hot day I didn't mind, so I didn't mention it to the staff. Honestly there is nothing I didn't like.

It was a great newly renovated facility. Very friendly staff. Loved the individual decks and the views of the stream and back from mine. Loved the property and different areas to hang out with groups of people, especially the outdoor spaces with several fireplace options (both inside and out). Very unique that there are beers on tap at the front desk and various cold brew coffee bar downstairs. Would love an added continental breakfast option on property to allow to grab and go but there are many options close by in town so NOT a deal breaker at all.

The rooms are small for a family of four- it was tight. BUT we would just get two rooms next time and this would not deter us from returning it is a great property. We spent very little time in the room and spent any other time we were on property in the various “hang out” areas or on our own deck/balcony. The only reason I did not give it a ten was because of the room size. Everything else was great! My only advice would be if traveling with two teenagers and your significant other and you need space, consider getting two rooms.

We visited end of summer so for us the location of the property was perfect. 5 min drive into stowe and close to the waterfalls and walks. It also had a bad and a outdoor area - with a hot tub, fire pits etc.

The room could have had a bit more storage and we found there weren’t many lights. This may have been because we got the smallest room.

The setting is idyllic! although close to a major road, the moment we walked I. the door we felt like we were in our own little haven by the river. beautiful. The modern, Scandinavian decor suited us perfectly! I also really appreciated the staff who all felt like real people who cared as opposed to staff who had been trained to act as though they cared.

We wish there had been a basic but good quality (something that suited the hotel itself) breakfast of some kind so that we did not need to leave the hotel first thing every morning.

Loved the Scandinavian vibe of this place. The rooms were very comfortable, the shower was fabulous, the towels had a wonderful spa scent to them. We were pleasantly surprised with the indoor pool & sauna! The property is right on a creek. There is a local beer on tap & a free coffee bar. Martin at the front desk was very nice & extremely helpful. The location is very close to town. We have visited Stowe many times and honestly this is one of the best places so far. We will definitely return & recommend this property!

Beautiful location; super comfortable bed; nice, (but not functional) décor; good coffee but no decaf, no tea.

Lovely place but who was the interior designer?? Our room had one TINY shelf so no horizontal place to put things. The bathroom was huge, but no counter space, no shelves no hooks, very awkward. Very poor lighting. We had a door to the beautiful grounds outside, but no door mat to wipe your shoes. Found 3 spiders in our room. No breakfast.

Nice outdoor jacuzzi, nice communal seating area. Really great free coffees. Sauna and indoor swimming pool. we had two rooms, one with bunk beds for the kids and one with a queen bed for the adults. rooms are very modern and cozy with small outdoor seating area. Great shower and soaps.

We had stayed several times at this hotel when it was The Mountaineer. We were looking forward to seeing the improvements under new management and were really impressed. The new decor scheme had simple elegance and the entire facility was gleaming well kept. We shall return for sure to this well placed site!

We did encounter a problem regulating room temperature, until we were brought up to date that thermostat on the wall is actually a remote control with all the parameters.
