This was my second stay at the Cardinal Inn. The location is great, although on a kind of busy road, it’s quiet in the rooms. The owner/staff/family are always pleasant and professional and make you feel at ease and comfortable. It is an older motel so the bathroom/shower are not what you might be used to, but it’s pretty well maintained so definitely not a negative. All in all, a nice hotel to stay in

We stayed in the king bed suite. Lots of room and a loveseat couch. But, the section for the “kitchen” is a little rough looking. Also, the part of the room sectioned off for the closet is really unusable since there is no light in there and it doesn’t get natural light.

The Cardinal Inn is a retro style motel located just within the city limits of Luray. Very convenient to grocery and restaurants and a short 10 min drive to Shenandoah National Park. The hotel is priced seasonally and we visited during peak season. The rooms open directly to your parking spot right in front of your room. It's located along business rt 211 and if you know anything about Luray there is no rush hour. The room was safe and quiet. Part of what sets this place apart is the charm of 60 year old decor, particularly the tilework in the bathroom. What puts this place on the 10 of 10 list is how clean and well maintained it is. The proprietor was friendly and helpful and made sure to check in after our first night to see if we needed anything. Other than that it was quiet and comfortable.

We were there in peak season and paid quite a lot for the room. The cost was equivalent to Days Inn and other similiar hotels (that weren't already booked). Peak season is mid October.

This property is is a great value, spotless odor free rooms. We are smokers and all rooms are non smoking but they provide chairs and table outside the room with ashtray. Location is at edge of town very quite and rooms are sound proof as they advertise. Staff is very interactive This was my second I sit and will definitely be back.

Not one thing

the location was perfect . I went for peace and quiet and the Shenandoah and see the mountains and the caverns. the room was very spacious and the water pressure in the shower was fantastic and hot ! the front desk lady (Laurie) was extremely helpful and kind .

that there wasn't a better place to eat in the room . and the heater seemed to stop being warm after some time and the microwave was glitchy .

The motel is the old style where you park in front of your room. the room was clean had a nice king bed good tv. We had car trouble and had to stay 3 extra days, the manager was great. He brought us extra supplies even gave us a discount rate for having to stay extra. It's not a big fancy hotel but it met our needs and was a very good value. The staff was excellent. The rooms are quiet the only thing we heard was a door from the room next door, never traffic noise or TVs. Close to town.

there was nothing lacking in the room. It would have been nice to have hair conditioner to go with the shampoo. I can't think of anything that was needed. It's very compact as it was built for smaller beds although it was not a problem.

We loved everything about this location, it was quiet location and very friendly. I recommend it to everyone if you visit luray, Va its the best place that we have stayed in by far. Wonderful vintage decor as well and very clean basically spotless.

There was nothing not to like about this location it was far the best one that we have stayed in during all of our travels

The room was very clean. And we were supposed to find out there was a microwave, mini fridge, and sink in the room. The hotel was close to the Luray caverns and at the edge of downtown Luray ( within walking distance.). The staff was inviting and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay.

The site said scenic view. And it was not.

I booked 3 double queen-bed rooms. A LOT of space. The surfaces were pretty clean, especially in the bathroom. No funny smells and stains. The bed was medium-firm, which my friends and I liked after a day in the Shenandoah NPK. The owner is nice. More than worth the price.

Some dust on the brinks of the windows which got on our hands when we tried to open/close them.

The people were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and had everything needed. Location was close to everything.

Only thing I would suggest is bring your own pillow the pillows were pretty flat. But that's a good idea to bring your own anytime you travel. Rest of the linens etc were clean and comfortable.

We stayed at the Cardinal Inn 2-3 nights per week for the last 8 months while our house was being built. The facilities were great, the staff was great, we felt welcome and safe. I would recommend the Cardinal Inn to anyone visiting Luray, Virginia.
