The owners were very friendly and helpful. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The location is lovely, and we had a pleasant opportunity to chat with Appalachian Trail hikers staying at the B&B.

The B&B is a beautiful, very old house, and the only bad side of that is there is little sound insulation. You could hear others downstairs, on the (uncarpeted) stairway. and they could hear you. We were told in the morning how they could hear us laughing and talking, which was a little unnerving. This was made a little worse in that breakfast was served from 6:30 on, and so sleeping in wasn't possible due to the noise downstairs.. Other than that, it was a lovely place with kind and diligent owners!

Wonderful location! My particular room was very clean, and there was an accompanying spacious bathroom. Outstanding breakfast hand cooked every day. Breakfast menu consists of either eggs w toast, pancakes, or oatmeal. Fruit is provided w breakfast based on seasonal availability. House is very well maintained. Location is great relative to national park access, access to Front Royal. Property was peaceful, serene. Lovely patio is off the back of the house. No TV in room, but that can be considered a plus. Most important and special for me, was the proprietors’ mission of providing outstanding support for through hikers along the Appalachian trail. Many of the services provided to through hikers are charged out at a negligible fee or free of charge altogether. Scott and Lisa (Husband, wife, owners) are easy to cheer for. I hope to be returning there…….soon. Peter Lancaster, Pa.

Staying at Mountain Home was a positively unique, authentic experience. The location was perfect and the home is full of pristinely maintained historical character. Lisa and Scott were so accommodating, personable and friendly. Completely on another level from the reception desk treatment of a typical hotel. The room itself was spacious and beautifully furnished in a way that complemented the period in which the house was built. Staying here, you can tell that this is more than just a business. It's a passion and a joy for the owners to host guests and we felt especially welcome as a result. Tea, coffee, water and other refreshments were readily available next to the dining room at any hour. Breakfast was served at our preferred time with a good window of choice. The late checkout (11am) was much appreciated after a long day in DC (only an hour and a half drive away) the night before! When we plan to come back to the area, which we surely will, Mountain Home will certainly be at the front of our minds.

The breakfast was excellent. Our host Lisa took our preferences just after arrival and prepared an excellent, made-to-order breakfast for all the house guests. I loved the abundant fresh fruit and the homemade maple flavor yogurt. It was a delight and a privilege to stay in a home so full of history and so well documented by the owners. We had a wonderful time talking with our hosts Lisa and Scott.

Can't think of anything.

The staff worked very hard to make our stay pleasant. The beds were very comfortable. My son really enjoyed the game room as well as playing the piano in the living room. Mountain Home Bed and Breakfast is conveniently located near downtown Front Royal as well as Shenandoah River State Park as well as Shenandoah National Park.

To be honest I really cannot think of something I did not like about our stay here. The hosts did a wonderful job to ensure we had a pleasant stay.

We received a warm welcome from Scott and a thorough introduction to this beautiful turn of the century home which has been lovingly restored in keeping with it's Historical Registry status. The B&B is meticulously clean and Covid-19 protocols are followed. Breakfast was wonderful and included apple cider we watched Scott press the night we checked in. The Appalachian Trail is very nearby with hikers staying in a special cabin on the property. All in all a very good experience.

The room was a bit difficult to be cozy in. Dark with a very comfortable, period bed so far off the floor I needed the stool which was thoughtfully provided. While WiFi was provided and was good in the "Major's Room" (parlor), it was unusable in our room. No TV

The second floor room was beautiful, very spacious and very clean. The hosts were extremely friendly an made us feel right at home. Breakfast was delightful with hikers hiking the Appalachian Trail telling stories of their travels. It also was just minutes from the entrance to Shenandoah National Park.

We liked everything about our stay. There was nothing negative.

The service is excellent and the property is lovely. I had the pleasure of returning to see the finished renovations after the owners worked on the main building for years and it is just as beautiful as they were imagining it could be 8 years ago. Scott and Lisa are so knowledgeable about the history of the property and the Front Royal area in general. I included a photo of the main house from 2014 to show a small fraction of the hard work they put in to the property!

Sad we came on a Monday as a lot of the local attractions are closed on Mondays!

We stayed in Annie’s room which was decorated and furnished in the colonial style as it would have been in Annie’s time. It was very comfortable . Scot and Lisa are very welcoming. Tea and coffee and snacks are available anytime and the breakfast was delicious. The house is in beautiful grounds . I just wish we had longer there.

There was nothing to dislike.

Where to start! So much care and love has been put into restoring this historic home, making it a beautiful and comfortable place to stay. Lisa and Scott are welcoming, kind hosts and made us feel right at home. The room was lovely, very large and clean with its own private bathroom. Breakfast was wonderful! We loved trying the homemade jams, banana bread, and apple cider! This is a very special place that I would recommend to anyone.
