We stayed here for the third time, and it won't be our last. The grounds are gorgeous (it is a popular wedding location for good reason), the rooms are very comfortable, the staff is friendly, and the amenities are enjoyable (indoor and outdoor pools, fitness studio, spa). Free parking and a good location between Virginia Beach and Norfolk make day excursions uncomplicated and convenient. I can't understand the negative reviews. Perhaps people see the name 'Hilton' behind the hotel and have absurd expectations. No, it isn't perfect, but let's say 90% and at a price that you can't argue with.

The building is clearly older, which gives the hotel a lot of charm. But it also means that not everything is state-of-the-art.

I liked the cleanliness. I like the area and how beautiful it is. I like the pools how we have options for Indoor or outdoor. I also loved the staff, they are respectful and help me with my requests, especially this lady staff ‘Jade’ or ‘Jada.’

I loved everything about that place except the outdoor pool sitting/resting area. I was in the water most of the time but when I got out and went to sit down, I got attacked my bugs and was full of bites in seconds. I also the walking area around the lake is beautiful except this one side where it’s full of duck feces and it’s all over the walking area and grass.

The hotel was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. The grounds are so large and yet peaceful. The biggest pool I’ve ever seen We brought our dog. The dog park was more than adequate. We are already planning our next stay!!

We were a little disappointed that the pool closed at 6 The dining room was absolutely gorgeous. The buffet was delicious, but a little smaller than I expected for $18.95 a person. The downside…..As usual, one or more of our party really couldn’t enjoy their breakfast due to being a vegetarian and a vegan. No one really caters to them, yet they pay the same $18.95 price everyone else does…then end up with just potatoes 🤷‍♀️ I do not believe this was the hotel’s fault…price for breakfast rolled into online registration I made.

The staff at the front desk were remarkably helpful. I needed assistance with minor things, and they did everything they could to help me out. The general vibe was quiet and peaceful. Even with a full wedding reception going on in the lobby, I didn't even know anyone else was there. I also had the best nap I've had in over a year.

The cleanliness of the shower was not great. Needed some Tilex? Soft-Scrub? Something was growing in the grout, and the glass of the shower was cloudy. The sheets didn't stay on the bed, but my wife tells me that fancy places like The Founders don't believe in fitted sheets.

It is a beautiful property with gardens and water in the middle of the city. .

The spa was nice but many of its amenities ( pool, hot tub) were under repair so that was disappointing. The reading material in the spa needs to be more varied and updated The staff could be more present throughout the property.

Spacious and lovely grounds, buildings and guest rooms. Outside pool is large with plenty of seating, lifeguard, waterslide. Buffet breakfast was really good. Staff was very, very friendly and helpful! Room was comfortable.

A little out of the way from beach but only about 20 minutes away and to save money from oceanfront hotel costs, it was worth it! Ample restaurants and shops close by.

The atmosphere and the architecture of the Inn were so beautiful, my 11 year old grandson even commented on it. We enjoyed the Santa Breakfast, it was great and so festive. The other breakfast we had, well, nothing good to say about that, they were out of silverware, coffee ran out, pastries were gone, I had to tell the front desk and then it took some time for them to replenish. Otherwise, we loved it and would love to come back. Happy Holidays!!

The breakfast on Saturday!! Not well planned or organized and not much to eat at all.

Everything was beautiful, the room the cleanliness, the breakfast, and their staff oh my God I LOVE TO SEE THEIR SMILES. I am definitely coming back.

I did not like that the shutters for the hot tub did not work and the indoor pool looks like a bit dirty.

Outstanding quality and charm.

The smoke detector/fire alarm in room 3114 was annoying. Every two minutes it let off a double sound like a shorted wire or clicker. Made it difficult to sleep at night. Notified the front desk but it was never checked on during our four night stay.

The beds were comfortable. The linen was soft and relaxing.

The hotel needs to be dusted. There was too much dust but it was quiet and ok for the time I spent there. With a deep cleaning this hotel has great potential to be everything.
