We were in the "Big House" and it was BIG with a large fully functional kitchen (big fridge, toaster, coffee maker, pots, etc), a large eating area, a large family room with several couches, and upstairs were 4 bedrooms with 1-4 double or queen sized beds per room so everyone had their own bed and two people had their own room. A GREAT space for a 3 generation family to come together. NOT Fancy, a bit "rustic" but that is all we needed was space and functionality and it was clean and comfortable. We hiked nearby Lost Lake (very much recommend!) and some of us went to the Military Vehicle museum and others the BigHorn Sheep museum in DuBois. Two other days spent in Grand Tetons and 1 day in Yellowstone (13 hour day total to get to and from and drive around to attractions in the lower half of the Yellowstone loop.)
The wide stairwell to the second floor bedrooms didn't have a hand rail so my parents had to be extra cautious. Only the bathroom on the second floor with the 4 bedrooms was functioning during our stay, but the half bath of the kitchen and the 3rd level 3/4 bathroom may be fully functioning in the future as we could tell they had been making improvements.

Everything!! Just don't understand all those poor reviews... we had a wonderful time at the Lava Mountain Lodge and will definitely come back! If you expect a Four Seasons you gotta stay elsewhere. You'll find a comfortable bed, very friendly people, great food, perfect location to visit GTNP... We stayed 3 nights but would've stayed longer if we knew what we'll find here at the time of booking our trip.

Room was quaint, old style but was clean and well maintained. Beds were adequate but new mattresses are needed. Food was great in the lodge. The breakfast was exceptional.
Meal service was slow due to a staff shortage, however they are actively seeking additional staff. They add a hefty service charge to meals which should be elliminated while understaffed.

The “Big House” cabin was such a beautiful cabin.! Upstairs where the rooms are was very comfortable & clean & my kids had a great time, the beds were very comfortable, the window views were beautiful .! The cook in the restaurant was very kind & makes amazing dishes.! Most of the staff we met were kind & made us feel very welcome.
The downstairs area was very dusty even the stairs were full of dust & dirt. The floors did not look mopped, the coffee machine I cleaned myself it had old coffee in it.

Great location to stop at while I was on my way cross country. From here it was only a short distance into Telluride. Facilities were clean and the room was large. What really impressed me was the staff. Tori, who checked me in, was extremely professional and it was cool getting to know him after hours as well. Him and another local told me all about the best spots to go to in town and we had great conversation.
The room was a bit echo-ey, but other than that, I can't complain.

The staff were really co-operative about our late check in request as they kept our key outside the office with instructions on how to get to our room with a map. Room was clean and it had sheets and blankets
Very small issue that the hair dryer was not working.

Large familly cottage with 4 extra large bedrooms. Very convenient and quiet. The restaurant is also pretty good.
Mattresses could really be better and part of the cottage needs refurbishment. Only one bathroom for the entire cottage.

The dinner was good. Price is acceptable. Attached couple pictures to show the dinner I ordered.
Bathroom fan wasn’t working. We didn’t have breakfast since it wasn’t open until 11am which was too late for people with travel plans next day
