Movenpick Hotel Melbourne On Spencer

Such a beautiful hotel! Staff were so friendly! They attended to our needs straight away (wanted softer pillows) Very clean, perfect location for tourists or just anyone (like us) wanting to stay in Melbourne for the weekend :) I do not have a bad thing to say about this place! Will definitely be staying again.

Loved how spacious the bathroom was, how quiet the floor we were on was, cleaners worked around the absolute abyssmal mess we left the room in every day, the pool was lovely, chocolate hour was fantastic, the location was also fantastic, very close to the skybus, across the road from southern cross, right next to the tram that took us to the convention centre. Overall fantastic hotel.

Spa was kind of hot. Couldn't stay in it for more than 5 minutes, really, but you probably shouldn't stay in a spa for very long anyway. Breakfast also didn't really rotate so it was mostly the same things every day. Otherwise, no complaints!

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. I was able to check in as soon as I arrived at 2pm, and my room was quiet, beautifully presented and reasonably spacious. This is my second visit to the Movenpick Hotel. This time I also was able to enjoy the Chocolate afternoon tea, offered to guests at 3pm each day. The restaurant, bar and lobby/lounge is light and well-equipped. The pool deck was lovely, although the gym was a bit smaller and dark than anticipated from the photos. However, it was very clean and offered a limited but good range of equipment for a basic workout. Breakfast was tasty and fresh - a small space but offering a bit of many things. The location is great, right across the street from Southern Cross Station (ie. Sky Bus to the airport, regional trains, Myki cards) and between a number of major tram lines. The location of the hotel is also close to the river and within the free tram zone, which is very handy. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

The gym was tucked away in the middle of the second floor, no windows and quite small. The photos make it look better than it is. However, it was very clean and had a basic range of equipment.

Pool was amazing. The complimentary Chocolate happy hour was a nice touch if it had of been explained to us better when we arrived. Beds comfortable and location perfect. Love the complimentary sparkling water in reception/bar area.

Communication on check in was not great. More info on the facilities and chocolate hour would have been nice. On our TV hotel guide it said there was a cosy of $20 so we nearly didn't go. As we got back from our walk and it was on I enquired re price and was told it was complimentary, unfortunately we missed 1/2 of it and the platters were empty for another 5-10 mins. The few chocolates we ate were delicious.

Breakfast was not included. I arrived in time for the chocolate hour, came down stairs and most items were gone..lol I think hot drinks should be included for guests too, i purchased a hot choc before i hit the DFO and came back for dinner and had the lovely spring rolls. Great to be able to cross the road and get on as bus to the airport, no problems. I loved my room, i cld people watch whilst i sat on my beautiful couch

Not enough chocolate for the guests, but it was others helping themselves too. You needed to restock.

Bed is big and comfortable. Room is very clean. Location is superb. Love the swimming pool. Love the chocolate hour.

Room is quite small. A bit lack of standard amenities like toothbrush, shaver, slippers. Really disappointed with our room because it has this weird dark empty area outside our window so we basically did not have any meaningful window view at all, as we couldn't look directly out to the street. It's like a balcony but it's not because we couldn't go there. All we could look out from our window were only that empty area, as well as two of some kinds of hotel maintenance rooms which enveloping that empty area. It gave quite an insecure feeling too so we had to constantly close our curtain.

Location could not be better, right across the road from the main train/bus station, especially if you’re coming from the airport on the sky bus. Rooms are spacious and the bed was one of the most comfy I’ve slept in. Breakfast buffet is good and the staff there are generally friendly.

Is a little noisy if you’re sensitive to street noise, I’m a light sleeper and slept pretty well though. You do have to ask at the breakfast buffet for non-dairy milk, one tried to charge for a full latte from the cafe and only relented when I argued that there was no milk I could have provided in the buffet, even though there were signs for it.

The location was exceptional as it was over the road from our Matildas game! The bed was super comfortable, great tv setup, bathroom was clean and suitable (no fan though when showering), the pool and spa were lovely and the small gym did the job 😀

We checked in around midnight due to flight delays so we were very fatigued and maybe a bit grumpy, but our check in experience took a good 20 minutes or so as they were advising me the digital gift card wasn't working. I had emailed and messaged the hotel days prior to checking, all was okay and advised it was, so it was just a little tiring standing for that long while they worked it out. I maybe seemed sad too because at one stage they said sorry it's not active when it was. They were pleasant but no apologies for the wait so we were just kind of standing around half asleep.

Breaky was beaut. Good variety, plentiful, scrambled eggs were lovely. Location? well, you can't get much more central in Melbourne and I am old enough to know what was on that site before and how bad, sad and nasty that old pub was. So, firstly, thank you for bringing your lovely hotel to Melbourne and for invigorating our town and secondly for providing lovely, polite and helpful service from your staff. This was our second time staying and won't be our last, we hope!

Our time spent there was too short, as we missed the pool experience...but will look to that next time.

The location was perfect - directly across the road from Southern Cross Station. I loved the funky, modern design and bright colours. I had a few minor issues -faulty Nespresso machine and empty body wash in shower, but these were dealt with very efficiently by the staff. All the staff were very friendly and accomodating. Lobby area had a great vibe, lots of space, yummy cocktails and the bonus chocolate hour. The pool and Jacuzzi were amazing.

I felt the breakfast could do with more variety given the cost. And also some lower priced options for room service. Also, the staff member didn’t tell me that I could access pots of yoghurt in the fridge during breakfast. I only discovered this on the 2nd night when another diner pulled back the curtain to open the fridge. Whilst the pool was lovely and warm, the outside air temp was freezing. Maybe consider a way to block out the chill during Winter?
