Holiday Inn Express & Suites - Ottawa Downtown East, an IHG Hotel

We were pleased with the spaciousness and cleanliness of our room. Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap are provided and other items are available. The linens and towels are good quality. There is an in-room coffee machine, microwave, and fridge. Everything seems new. Show up early for breakfast - as in 7am! It gets extremely busy. The breakfast offers a great variety and includes a pancake-maker. Coffee & tea are available during the day.

The elevator is not sufficient for the size of this hotel! There were lots of times where we had to wait. We ended up taking the stairs. If a person has a disability or a medical emergency, this will be a problem. We also would have liked more housekeeping, since we were at the hotel for a week.

I recently stayed at this hotel and wanted to share my experience. One of the standout aspects of my stay was the reception staff. They were incredibly nice, kind, and always ready to help. It was refreshing to see them greet guests with a smile and remain available for any requests. Their friendly and helpful demeanor made a positive impact on my overall experience. I also appreciated the efforts of the cleaning staff. They were equally friendly and always accessible whenever I needed assistance. Their attention to detail ensured that the hotel maintained a clean and comfortable environment throughout my stay. When it comes to breakfast, I found it to be good overall. However, I believe it could have been even better with the addition of espresso coffee. While the available options were satisfactory, having espresso coffee would have been a welcome addition for those who prefer a stronger cup of coffee in the morning.

There was nothing in particular that I disliked or found to be problematic.

The breakfast is what we expected, as each of the IHG we have stayed in were very similar. The walk-in in shower was excellent and I did not get water over the floor, the glass door was well built and I felt safe instead of making the floor slippery. The window was a beautiful full glass wall with excellent blinds. I used the laundry which was new, easy to use and I bought the detergent from the hotel market, and staff were lovely and gave us change. The staff helped with maps, and how to get around as we were on foot and did not rent a car.

The TV remotes I each of the IHG, Edmonton, Burnaby and now Ottawa, were not helpful in finding information on the TV shows we wanted to find or watch, very difficult to navigate and become frustrating. The breakfast room was very busy and seem understaffed compared to the other IHG and so they could not wipe down the tables as they had in Burnaby which had been an excellent and clean example. The area was a little sad with the people living on the streets outside the ‘Good Shepard’, but when we discovered a different walking route toward Parlament Hill and the Chez Lucien Pub for meals, it was really good. Only 15 minutes walking into the centre of Ottawa.

All staff members I had meet were super friendly and professional, very helpful and courteous, room had an excellent layout , very clean and comfy. Just an FYI if you have a truck the underground parking is extremely difficult to maneuver your truck in ( low height extremely tight corners super small parking spots ) , the roof top patio is a great little place to hang and check out the sight lines

Parking underground , small spots super tight corners and no way to tell it's full until you get in the parking garage and then have to get all the way back out , some hotel guests took up two spots which made the other guests lose spots , not the hotels fault for inconsiderate guests .

I am a quite picky person, but I was totally impressed of how CLEAN the hotel was! i was there for 1 night only (for a Nexus interview) so didn’t paid too much attention when booking the place as I knew I will be there strictly for sleep after driving 600+km. But I was very impressed with the room! very big, extremely clean and pretty good location also - walking distance to city center. Strongly recommend!

Not applicable - however you might want to pay attention in the parking as the drive down/spots are a bit narrow.

The hotel itself was very nice. The staff was helpful and the rooms were clean and comfortable.

Unfortunately, the hotel was not in a nice part of town. Many homeless people were on the streets in the neighbourhood, making my family feel uncomfortable during the day, especially in the evening. I was very surprised since our last stay in Ottawa around the same area before the pandemic was very nice. Hopefully, this is just a temporary situation since the hotel itself was quite nice.

clean like new rooms, many USB connections in the room. Kuerig coffee and tea, full breakfast. very well priced for proximity to Parliament Hill and Ottawa U.

unfortunately there is a shelter across a Main Street from the shelter. the clients of the shelter do not come near the hotel and I had no interaction with any of them. The security at the hotel is excellent and I will stay here again.

I loved the design of the room. The wallpaper, color scheme, little corner wall mounted table at the entry. The coffee station across with fridge and microwave. The graphical coordinating wallpaper in the bathroom. The LED lighting in 3 different areas if the room. All to add light but not too much. The light that is attached to the wall by the chaise- big and bright but not taking up floor space. The drapery- first set colored sheets to see in or out (and cute) and then second set solid for privacy and blocking sun. The design - the bench to lay your suitcase on. The side tables with open shelving to store your book allowing enough space on top for a glass of water. Bathroom was clean and the soaps were full and nice. It was nice to come back to at the end of day after exploring the city.

My bed wasn’t made when I returned. Not sure if I was supposed to leave a note on the door? Previous hotel did it without my asking, so I’m not sure if there is a standard.

Clean room with super comfy beds, pool down the hall, accommodation of my lower floor request. Friendly staff, and delicious breakfast with great options and lots of space to sit and eat. Walking distance from all of the Market amenities and easy to access by car from Quebec or 417.

Having to line up in the small queue area with car to check in and pay for parking before being able to access the parking garage. This also meant there was cars blocking us when we tried to leave the parking garage in the morning because of congestion in front of the hotel which is where the garage entrance and exit is located. The booking prior to arrival didn't mention extra fee for parking either, though it did disclose the additional $50 deposit that's added to the price of the room at check in.

The rooms were airy, bright & spacious. The Breakfast buffet each morning was delicious and the variety of foods was exceptional catering to every taste both for children and adults. The staff were friendly & efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as a family for the 5 days we spent at your Hotel.

We just needed a little more soap bars but we managed with other cleaning items in the shower. We could have called for service but we were busy with our daily itinerary - so it was more our fault. We intend to book our stay with you each time we visit Ottawa. It would be unfair to say we didn't like anything because we really had a most enjoyable stay at Holiday Inn Express.
