Scandic Grand Marina

Firstly, the location of the hotel is super, Viking Line/ Eckerö Line terminal is just a short walk away. The hotel itself is big, it has own restaurant/ bar. Also gym and sauna. The room was nice, it had all the necessities like blow dryer, safe, minibar, even in the shower there were different shampoo and body wash (big plus!). The bed was also comfy and during the night it was totally silent. Buffet breakfast was absolutely delicious, the choices and options are quite big, and anyone can find something to eat.

During the night the room was a bit cold, however not uncomfortable (thermostat was at max).

Large rooms.Only a short walk away from bars and restaurants and a short drive to the ferry terminal. Breakfast was very good-a huge selection which was regularly refreshed and topped up. The bar staff were very knowledgeable about the area and the reception staff were very friendly too.All in all it has a nice atmosphere. Lifts to each floor are also a godsend.

Parking was limited although if you can get a space you’re literally on the hotel doorstep. A little further out from the buzz of the city but that suited us as we wanted to be close to the ferry terminal.

An excellent location in the city centre, with a friendly, professional and helpful staff. Everyone spoke fluent English. The breakfasts were abundant, full of choice, and good quality. My room was very quiet; the whole building well maintained, and with a secure left-luggage service that was really helpful. There is a lively bar, sauna, gym, even a barber shop, too. I did not use the restaurant but it was well filled with diners. You can walk anywhere important in Helsinki from this hotel in less than 25 minutes. I think it was value for money, and would recommend it.

Nothing important. The towels were a little harsh; toilet paper thin; no face tissue; no UBS plug in my room. But these are trivial, compared to all the important things that were well done.

Our room was very spacious with a confortable big bed. The breakfast buffet has very big variety of food, from coldcuts, cheeses, veggies, Finnish specialties, to warm dishes, cereals, fruits and many other healthy options. You can't have a better breakfast! The location is perfect, very close to the central Market Square.

The cleaning was not as it should have been. During 5 days of stay, no bed sheet was changed and the floor was not cleaned even once. The sauna has very limited opening time, only in the evenings. The gym has many different machines, but very old ones; many of them broken or in very bad shape.

Great location. The hotel is close to the airport, it took us around 10 minutes to reach it by taxi. It is also just 5 minutes walk to the Viking line ferry terminal. As we had to travel further by ferry it was a perfect location for us. It is also close to most of the Helsinki main attractions that you can reach by foot. Boats to Suomenlinna which is worth visiting is just 5 mins walk away from the hotel. Breakfasts are amazing, I really mean that. All food items are fresh and tasty. I fell in love with their croissants, fresh whipped cream and local berries jam. There is a variety of ham, bacon, sausages and eggs to all tastes. Keep it up! The hotel is clean. The beds are comfy, but the sofa bed is rather hard and uncomfy to sleep on even for a young child. Our room was very spacious but rather gloomy and dark. There are several restaurants and small supermarkets in the area which is very convenient.

There is nobody to help you with your luggage. You get the key and go to your room. Nobody cares how heavy your bags are or asks if you need help. You cannot open the window in your room, so no fresh air. You have to keep the AC on which is a shame when the weather is good outside. In our room the window was very narrow and it was also blocked by the column, so the room was very dark at all times. Bring your water with you if you need it while walking around the city or be ready to fill your bottles with tap water (which is of a very good quality) as a 0.5 L bottle of water in the lobby costs 3 euro.

The staff was very helpful and friendly, we had no problem leaving our bags at the hotel before check-in, they answered our questions and was helpful providing information. Onle checking-in everything was explained in detail. The breakfast had variety of choice, from savoury to sweet food, and long hours for breakfast. Room was cosy and shower was comfortable and clean. The sound isolation seemed pretty good, we couldn't hear any neighbours.

The room had pretty small windows, thefore not a lot of natural light and not the most marvellous view. The beds were comfy when sleeping, but while trying to if someone turned over the whole mattress shaked, might be difficult for light sleepers.

Breakfast had good choices. Could use more beef, chicken etc kosher choices. Close to viking cruise line and churches near by. Shopping center was 15 mins walk.

Breakfast opens at 7 am. They are a Marina hotel. Should be catering to times of departure. We left around 6.45 am to get to ferry. If the hotel opened up Breakfast at 6.30 am all of their ferry customers could eat before they had to go. Who knows maybe they are trying to save money instead.... They made us to go breakfasts with very old bread stale bread ( about 4") inside cheese and lettuce, 2 slices of tomatoes. Yogurt cup, juice apple and 2 pieces of candy. It was terrible tasting and no where near a buffet breakfast quality you paid for. Could of stayed at other places for a lot cheaper with out breakfast... I hope Management could change their hr so people can have decent experience.

The hotel is at a convenient location overlooking the marina, with an excellent connection to public transport. Easy to reach on foot from the central railway station. I particularly liked the building's architecture and overall aesthetics. Make sure you don't miss the breakfast buffet—it has a large variety of excellent-quality products, with many vegetarian, gluten-free, and healthier options.

A larger room window would have been great, but the skylight in my room (7th floor) provided sufficient natural light.

Great View over the harbor and seeing the large boats arriving. Also fairly good view of the Open Sea. Short walking distance to the City and shopping.

A bit dark but it would not stop us to return. It would be good for the reception staff to let guests know how the lights turn on in the room ( by inverting the key inn to a pocket next to the front door.) We weren’t familiar with this practice. Same goes with the elevators. We understand now why it is so. The focus is on energy and safety and that is a Plus.

The room allocated to us was not satisfactory - on the 6th floor with a very small window. we went back to reception and the receptionist went to a deal of trouble to relocate us to another room (even though the new room had not yet been vacated). Very good service. The breakfast was excellent. I like the idea that the staff publish the amount of waste per person from the previous days breakfast. I am always appalled by the amount of food people leave on their plates at breakfast.

Glad we were able to be moved from the room with the small window.
