Matahari Bungalow Hotel

The beds were comfortable and clean, location close to everything, shopping, restaurants, and the beach (1km walk) but we loved being able to walk everywhere. The breakfast was delicious, try the dragon fruit smoothie! The gardens and grounds were spacious and well maintained, great space to walk and play with the children and excellent sized pool.

Staff walking into our room at night, need to knock first if they had the worng room. Also walked in on me whenI was on the toilet during check out. Again, need to learn to knock!

Everything. The staff is the hidden gem of this place. The pool, bar, and surrounds make life effortless

The rooms are tired and showing the effects of age.

Beautiful hotel in Kuta, quiet behind the busy areas. Giant lovely pool, and beautiful garden. this was a treasure hidden away! the room size was fine for a few days and service was very friendly from all the staff. i would stay here again if staying in Kuta. food was good and always available- with 24 reception who help when needed. the pictures on booking.com are correct

If you like a resort style hotel but without large crowds, Matahari Bungalow is the place for a chilled holiday. Walking distance to Beach Walk shopping centre, the beach and even a convenience store directly opposite hotel. Staff were great and received even better service than I have had at other 5 star resorts. I will return to this property.

Some rooms are not refurbished that will deter some however freshly renovated rooms are available for a little extra. Rooms do not have opening windows so can get stuffy if you don’t like using the air con.

Was not sure about this one due to Google map picture, shown as an old building at the front. But decided to go a head and was wowed once entering the hotel area. It was really not as I'd expected. It has huge garden area with plenty beautiful trees. Yes the building looks old with Balinese Architecture touch, but the room is spacious and modern yet very clean. Bed is super comfortable. Shower with hot water. Breakfast was really delicious, my kids love all the menus Swimming pool is considerably large and it is super clean. Around the pool is green view of the garden, it is very well maintained Location: prime - right at busy street of Legian with many restaurant, bars and hotels. We stayed during weekend and was lot of fun just to walk around the area. I will definitely recommend and return to this hotel You get what you paid for

The front facade of hotel & lobby can use some renovation. It looks dark and old. Looks sad actually. With the potential behind it, am sure this hotel can do much more

Bed was comfy with a lovely pool and swim up bar.. Great location close to everything. Grounds were k ept well. Staff were friendly. Room was cleaned each day.

A lot of the rooms looking a little tired. We had paid for one of the more expensive rooms but it was really tired looking and had a gap in the door where mosquitoes could get in. Staff were great and moved us to a renovated room which was better but definitely not worth the full asking price on their website. We had booked through booking.com and got a good rate.

The swimming pool was excellent with a roomy swim-up bar & plenty of lounge beds & umbrellas (although 1 was broken). The location is excellent as it's about half-way between Kuta & Legian centres, there's lots of restaurants & bars close by & the beach is only about a 15-20 minute walk away.

The room was very comfortable however some fittings/electricals are getting a bit worn, the shower took quite a long time to warm up sometimes & lots of water escapes the shower/bath recess & ends up on the bathroom floor & quite slippery...

The deluxe garden view room was clean and comfortable. Air conditioning work well in the room and small fridge was very handy. Beautiful gardens and pool! Hotel restaurant was great and swim up bar gave access to drinks and food from restaurant. Mini mart across the st and easy walking or scooter to beach. Many great restaurants on street.

Some of rooms looked older and seems musty. Can be noisey-but it is a busy area with bars and restaurants with live bands.

A la carte breakfast was brilliant. Staff were so, so lovely. Bed was really comfy. Good tv channels in English. The road that the hotel is on is hectic, but you couldn’t hear a thing in the beautifully maintained gardens and pool area. A very unexpected oasis with a very traditional Balinese style

Bathrooms really need updating. It does seem that there are upgrades going on (new beds, new sunloungers etc) so I think they will get to them as they continue to recover from covid.

You walk in off the main street and suddenly the noise is gone!! The staff were lovely. The Deluxe Garden view room (no.10) was a good size, the bathroom spacious. The hotel grounds are really lovely, a large garden area near the pool with trees for shade, ponds with lillies etc. I would definitely stay here again. It's close to everything you need but far enough from the nightclubs so the noise does not disturb you.

The pool needs a little attention to get the water sparkling but still definitely swimmable. Balinese breakfast is not available, only western style. No bamboo chimes in the trees. I miss that sound!
