Great deck facilities and view of the mountain. Very pleasant spot to sit in the sun and have a glass of wine. Both Fujiko and Brad were good hosts and answered any queries that we had re places to visit and beaches to spend time at. A worthwhile trip to visit the "Festival of Lights " at Pukekura Park

Bedroom space was quite confined with not a lot of movement space. Shared toilet and bathroom with other guests could have become an issue if all three rooms were booked. Not a problem in our case where we were the only guests on the first night of our stay

Our stay here was exceptional! This place did not show up when we first started searching for accommodations in New Plymouth, but we came across it the second time. We were surprised by the very positive reviews others had on the place and quickly made a booking. After staying there for 2 nights, we can definitively say that the place lived up to the expectations. Host - Our host, Brad, welcomed us warmly when we first arrived and was very friendly and hospitable throughout. He definitely made me and my wife feel welcomed throughout our stay here, and was always happy to answer any questions we had about the city, such as food, attractions, etc. We also met his wife, Fujiko, but did not have much interactions with her. Accommodation - The house and its surroundings are beautiful. They have a well maintained garden in the front and out back, with flowers blooming nicely (this was in Spring). The owners rear chickens for eggs, and Brad let us watch him feed them and collect the eggs. He also owns 3 friendly cats, although don't let that stop you if you are allergic. The house is well maintained and the decorations are nice and cozy, and you feel tempted to just sit and relax at their living room after a day out. Food - The breakfast, cooked by Brad, was simple but delicious and filling. This includes homemade bread with jam the owners made from fruit grown in the garden, and Brad is happy to accommodate requests to make your eggs differently. Fujiko cooks dinner if requested, although we did not get to try it in our time there, so we can't comment about it. Tea and Coffee is also available throughout the day. Wifi - The wifi is stable and good. Definitely a welcomed improvement over our own shoddy rented portable wifi. Overall, we had a wonderful experience, and should we ever visit New Zealand again, we would definitely stay here again.

The queen bed was sunken down on one side - noticeable when comparing both sides. It was otherwise comfortable. Our biggest dislike was that we only spent 2 nights there. Did not expect to enjoy the place as much as we did.

Brad and Fujiko were excellent hosts! The space was just what we needed and the cats were an added bonus :) Breakfast in the morning with homemade bread and eggs from the chickens in the backyard made every day start off on a great note. We had great chats and the recommendations for places to check out were exactly what we were looking for. I loved the soft beds with the electric blanket. It was a very personal experience with lovely people and we will remember this trip very positively! Thank you!

The only thing we noticed was the bedroom had a slight mildew smell. But everything else was great!

Brad and Fujiko are wonderful hosts, friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was fabulous - so amazing to wake up to the smell of freshly baked bread and the home grown free range eggs were delicious. The view of the mountain and the ocean are the icing on the cake.

I think the only thing that could have been better would be if there was off-street parking. But that really is just a nicety and it wasn't an issue for us.

Breakfast was made by the owner and was a wonderful spread. The owner was very welcoming and shared with us his life, spots worth visiting and his organic garden. Toilet and bathroom were very clean, towels were textured and soft to use. Great view of Taranaki from the balcony. Very beautiful wallpapers and warm lights from the bedside lamps. Will definitely come back! Highly recommended! The owner was very knowledgeable about surfing and 'wowed' us with his kite surfing experience. Electric blankets were provided but we didn't use it, the thick blanket was enough and kept us warm at night.

The bedsheets were too fragrant and slightly affected sleep for my husband. Otherwise, was all good.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious. Home baked bread and freshly laid eggs every morning. Both hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The accommodation was excellent with plenty of room, bathroom facilities were modern, exceptionally clean and well maintained. I will definitely be staying again.

You will hardly ever find an accommodation with a better view, nicer and friendlier host and more luxury equipped interior. It was amazing. Such a jewel in accommodation! And the host: such a nice, friendly, welcoming, helpful and great guy. He even baked his own bread for us for breakfast. Simply the best. Thank you so much! Please, everyone, do yourself a favour and stay more than 1 night.

Lovely breakfast of tasty sausage, eggs from own chicken and home-baked break in the morning. Nice and chatty host. Nice view of the volcano from the balcony if it is not in clouds.

My room was next to the kitchen, so the first morning I woke up because of other having breakfast earlier than I wanted to get up. Your living with the host. I enjoyed it, but it might not be for everyone.

The host Brad is extremely nice and helpful, was really doing everything in his power to make my stay the best it can be. Excellent breakfast with freshly baked bread and everything felt so clean and luxurious even when it’s just the homiest of homes
