The Edward

The room was spacious with a sea view. We liked the safe underground parking with a daily fee ( R 60). The breakfast was good. The staff were always nice and welcoming. The big generator was a big plus during load-shedding. The dine-in room service was great with delicious food and a variety to choose from. The house keeping were punctuate, they change the towels, make the beds and clean the room daily.

The location is a bit worrisome as it’s in front of a crowded beach, that’s unsafe & smells very bad. The corridors in our floor were noisy and busy very early in the morning with loud guests and/or staff that will wake you up by 6 or 6:30 am. The windows weren’t clean so they obscured the sea view.

I love it there. The room had everything and was clean. My wife loved the big bed, she sleep like a baby :D she didn't want to leave. The ocean view was nice but street was to busy to hear ocean. The shower was our only problem with the room, It was to small. The breakfast had all the things I love and the buffet is a good idea. I will come again.

The shower was to small. Don't need a bath and make shower bigger. The indoor parking was to small but we made it in just afraid someone with no driving skills will hit my car.

Initial room was small. Extended our stay and got a nice room at same cost

The staff was warmly friendly, very welcoming especially Sizwe. OMG, that guy was just home from the get go. He took care of us from the time we walked through the door. The room was beautiful, clean and spacious including the bathroom, it was home away from home. The food was exceptional, compliments to the chef, their breakfast and lunch and dinner.😘😘😊😊😊😘😊Delicious. Definitely coming back. The location don't get me started, it is life and money saving. Their rooftop pool to die for,it was perfectly setup up just for me

Nothing was there to be disliked.

I liked the breakfast, different every day. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. Mr Biyela made sure that we are fine at all times, not forgetting Sfiso,who would use his fone to call us a cab. The staff at the kitchen would make sure that we are happy at all times. They would come and ask if we are fine. That's my go to place everytime I'm in Durban.

I didn't like the carpet in the room.

The tasteful decor in room, view of the sea, quiet location, terrace, range of breakfasts available, bottomless coffee or tea, kind and calm staff, sheets and towels and tea and coffee replaced every day, helpful explanation from desk staff about load shedding. Fridge, iron, hairdryer, clothes rack, toiletries available for use.

The twin room had a double bed rather than two singles, and should have been called a double room, but the porter did explain that there was an adjoining room used by families and in the end it was not a problem as we were family.

Bathroom was not 100% clean

Staff very attentive. lunch in restaurant excellent - greek salad. breakfast was not luxurious but certainly good enough.

They need computer plugs on the desk - us/European/South Africa. All they have is S.African, and you must crawl under the desk to find it. When I complained they immediately sent up extension cords and adapters so I was not really inconvenienced but I do think a suite in a hotel should be equipped more conveniently.

For the price, the room was better. You have half of a view to the beach from the room window. You also get a safe locker for your valuables. Breakfast is awesome at this place, complimented by the friendly staff all around. Then there's the distance to the beach: AWESOMENESS! You simply step out and cross a road, and you're there in 2 minutes.

The air-con is centrally controlled, so it gets a bit hot for a few hours of your arrival. The pool at the top is smallish, but you can still have fun.

Hospitality,quality service, everyone goes out to assist us from cleaners, rooms and corridors were clean,checking in was so easy,and front desk team (receptionist)were so friendly,catering, breakfast was so delicious they served us with smile,security personnel were also great and assisted us whenever we needed help,the Edward team make us feel welcomed,safe and we felt at home.
