Hotel Puerta de la Santa

the photo does not do the location justice. The hotel is right in the middle of everything (well, maybe a 2 minute walk). Avila I’d a town built on a hill / you have to go up and/or down to go anywhere! But - for one who has issues with hills, I found it ok. The hills were neither as steep or as long as I feared. Juan Carlos - the owner and/or manager of the property- was a godsend. He carried my bags, remembered my name (not always easy for a Spaniard!) and attended me well before his cafeteria when we had a Birds Eye view of the Easter procession. He called a taxi for me in departure and followed it up with st least 7 other calls to make sure that I reached my train, which I did with only minutes to spare: His hotel was spotlessly clean, all accessories working and friendly. it’s not a palace, but I liked it - and I’m a bit fussy.

The location is excellent for seeing the walled part of the town. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The owner, Juan Carlos deserves special mention as we had a problem with one of our motorbikes; he arranged for it to be fixed at a local bike garage picking us and our luggage up to return to the hotel and taking us back the next day. The garage owner was also brilliant and helpful. I can highly recommend this hotel to any one, especially bikers.

This is a lovely hotel just a few yards outside Avila's historic and beautiful city walls. You will struggle to find a more helpful host and the provision of safe underground parking for our motorbike was much appreciated. Every part of this hotel is immaculate and the rooms have plenty of storage space, particularly useful with motorcycle gear. The hotel incorporates a small café which is great for a snack or breakfast and It too is spotlessly clean. Our Spanish sadly is not great but this is not a problem the friendly staff member working throughout our stay is patient, friendly and helpful. If we visit Avila again this will definitely be our first choice hotel.

Everything was fine.

Great location right by the city walls, free on street parking (if you are lucky - we were) or a pay car park right next door, clean room, air-con, comfy bed, good bathroom - bidet with a lid😁, friendly staff and good cafeteria. Very quiet. Good to chat with the ladies and gentlemen sitting outside their old people's home opposite in the evening sunshine. Great value, too.

Not much - being very picky, the hinges on the room door squeaked a bit.

Location was great, the hotel was very clean and tidy. The host Juan Carlos was a great help, he couldn't do enough for his guests. The hotel has secure parking for motorbikes and is very biker friendly. We really loved this hotel and will return if possible.

Really lovely little hotel. Great parking in the owners garage for our motorbikes. Hotel is clean and comfy. The major plus about this hotel is its location! Right on the walls of the walled city of Avila. This place is a hidden gem. Its stunningly beautiful and the people couldn't do enough for you. Had the best two days there and we will definitely return. Thank you so much for a lovely stay.

We had a great time in Avila. It’s a pleasure to stay in Hotel Puerta da la Santa. The room is sparking clean. The stuffs are really welcoming people. The beds are comfortable. Location is prefect. It is just in front of the wall. If you are driving, it’s very easy to find a parking slot. We would like to repeat if we visit Avila again. Highly recommend!

Lovely hotel. Extremely clean. Very nice friendly staff. Easy to find free parking. Good location within walking distance to Old Town. Excellent to have the adjourning, friendly cafe with very reasonable prices.

There was nothing that we didn't like.

Excellent location, just right outside the old town wall. The hotel rooms look quite new, space is not big but enough.

If the staff could speak English would be easier to communicate. However the staff is very helpful and tried her best to communicate.

Great location (1 min from Church of Santa Teresa)and great price. Traffic is NOT a problem at night. There is a "no food in room" policy, but one is allowed to eat one's own food etc in the cafeteria - they even provide plates and cutlery. Excellent!
