Very clean and comfortable hotel a short walk from the Atocha train station and walking distance to the Retiro park and the Prado museum. I stayed here twice as it was so convenient and a great value for what i paid. There is also a shuttle bus to the airport that is only 5 Euro and leaves from the train station - very convenient and by far the most direct and least expensive way to get there. I also ate one meal in the cafe - very good food and the wait staff were quite friendly.

Visited my son living in Retiro District. Location was perfect. Lots of Metro stops within a few minutes walk, Menendez Pelayo, Conde de Casal or Atocha. Retiro Park with in walking distance. I walked to get the Yellow Bus Tour of Madrid from the hotel, which was great value. Lots of bakeries, bars and coffee shops all with in walking distance, if you didn't pay for breakfast in the hotel. Our 2x twin rooms were overlooking the courtyard, as we asked for quiet rooms. No view. Rooms were clean. Staff friendly and helpful.

We were woken up very early on 2nd morning by what I presume was a maid cleaning a room above. Moving furniture etc.

Great value hotel that has an exceptional staff! Maria at the front desk went out of her way to assist me! I enjoyed my stay here that I stayed again here recently. The hotel has a great small clean room with a private bath and shower. The bed is comfortable and the room also has a tv. It is located in an excellent location near the train station. Across the street is a supermarket and there are plenty of restaurants in the area you can walk to and order the menu of the day. It is not far from the Sol shopping district and one can catch a bus in front of the hotel or make the 25 minute walk as I did enjoying the sights and sounds of the city. This is a great hotel at a great price!

The staff was friendly and professional. The lobby is a welcoming space, very useful in a busy hotel. Because of the hotel's convenient location near the Atocha train station, the staff was quite accommodating about accepting luggage pre-check-in and post-check-out. It is walkable to the Prado Museum and the beautiful Parque del Retiro. The hotel is near both subway and bus connections to other parts of Madrid. One can walk from the hotel to the Plaza Mayor in about 30 minutes, or catch an easy bus to the same area. The neighborhood is pleasant and there are eateries and a grocery store nearby. The rooms are clean, and there is plenty of space to put away one's clothing.

The check-in process seemed to take forever! There seem to be 19th century protocols regarding documentation that make it rather slow.

Breakfast was superb- huge variety of foods & drinks to suit all palates.

Staff at reception were perfunctory & brusque- not particularly welcoming. There was no complimentary water or tea/coffee facilities in the room. We mistakenly thought the jars of nuts & olives were complimentary & were charged heavily for them. To use the safe in the room you had to pay an extra €15. These additional charges felt a bit excessive & took from the fact that otherwise the roo was very comfortable & the breakfast was excellent

Staff English skills were very good and staff was pleasant and helpful. Large room with a comfortable bed. Included small fridge. Bath spacious, nice amenities and very clean. Checkin/ check out dead easy. Location: easy to find and close to train station. Close to supermarket.

Not really close to sights, other restaurants, bars. Cheap taxi/Uber made it very managable. The hallway to the room was dated, ugly rug, rather dark and depressing. Thin walls: last night room next door was very loud -- woke us from a dead sleep at 2am (and I am NOT a light sleeper).. Called front desk and they immediately sent up security and noise stopped. Bed was on wheels! If you leaned on it, it moved! Had to be careful when sitting on side of bed. Again, it is manageable but weird.

Very good location, close to the museum, shopping streets and city center. Breakfast was very good with big variety of food. Special thanks to staff as I’ve got room before check in time. it was really a bliss after 2 flights with long connection. Good value for money in terms of prices in this district.

None really. Just to mention that hotel is big and there could be a que for the check-in/check out but staff is fast and professional so this not a big deal

Very spacious room with a great location close to the Atocha station. The hotel is made in old fashioned design with marble stairs and walls. Our room had a very spacious bathroom with a bathtub. A working AC was a relief in a quite warm Madrid in April. Almost all sightseeing destinations were in the walking distance. We liked Madrid and our hotel!

Just a point for improvement. Would be nice to have a hand cream or body lotion in the bathroom like other hotels do. The water in Spain makes skin very dry and some moisturizing cream would be a great add-on.

Convenience for Atocha rail station. Quiet room on high floor. They did not give us a room facing the busy main road in front, for which we were grateful. One can access the Retiro park from its SE entrance just 10 minutes walk away along the back streets. It also an easy (although with busy traffic) walk into the central Atocha/Calle de las Huertas area, the botanical gardens and museums. So a good location overall.

Shower water pressure low. The hotel has seen better days and the decor is anachronistic, although this does have a certain old fashioned charm.
