Petit Palace Santa Bárbara

I stayed at the Petit Palace Santa Barbara for the second time in a few years. I liked it the first time and it didn't disappoint again. The hotel's location next to the Alonso Martinez metro station makes it convenient to move around. Despite having a room facing the square/street, it was quiet and enjoyable. I had a large room on the 2nd floor, well maintained, clean and comfortable. I didn't have breakfast there so can't comment about it. The hotel is not cheap by Madrid standards, but it's of good quality.

While my room was perfect, a friend of mine who booked under similar conditions had a much smaller room, facing the courtyard. The aircon was badly placed so it would blow on your bed non-stop. The room was not as clean as mine, the empty shampoo bottle was never replaced and a few furniture pieces were damaged. Two guests, two distinctive experiences.

Great cute hotel. Rooms (we booked two. One was a suite & one was a standard double room) were both shockingly big!! It was a very nice surprise. Wasn’t expecting huge rooms in Europe like that, but this hotel has them. So if you want to be comfortable & not feel tight & claustrophobic, this hotel won’t disappoint. It was also clean & modern. The hotel staff were also helpful. In particular, the guy there in the reception. He was great, super cool, very helpful, very professional. He did all the right things!! Also the restaurant guy, very nice & very helpful. We also think the location was good.

Location is smart: very close to center, yet quiet, but not ghost-quiet, plus a metro station is 100 meters from the hotel. English speaking, very welcoming staff. Inner terrace/bar/coffee is a nice bonus, even though in Madrid, it's rarely a necessity. These people know how to party :-)

Double-bed, which itself is fantastic, should have separate blankets instead of a shared single one. Sharing a blanket is very romantic, right, but after a loong evening of eating/drinking - to each their own :-)

Nice location, a bit of a walk to the main attractions. Was quiet. Good size room. Breakfast was great!

Beds weren't comfortable, shower was slippery.

Great location, loved the family room (with 4 bunk beds for our kids ages 14, 12, 10 and 8). Friendly front desk with good restaurant recommendations. Comfortable, clean beds, beautiful big windows (with a tiny balcony big enough to stand outside).

The bathroom was big and clean, with the exception of no ventilation (no window or fan) which means there was mold in the corners of the ceiling. Didn't bother us at all for a 2 night stay but can't be good in the long run....everything else was excellent!

If you’re looking for a hotel with clean, modern, good sized rooms, and a friendly staff that goes out of its way to make sure you’re stay is wonderful, then I can’t say enough about the Petit Palace Santa Barbara. We were looking for something more neighborhood authentic, away from the tourist crowds, safe (since this was our first time to Madrid), but still walking distance close to cafes, shops, bars and restaurants. We couldn’t be happier with our choice. We’ll definitely stay there again!

I recently stayed at this hotel in Madrid with my friends, and I have to say that it was an amazing experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and they went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. When some of our friends left early and we had to switch rooms, they even let us sleep in until 2pm, which was so nice of them. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable, which made for a great night's sleep after a night out on the town. We really felt at home here, and it was the perfect base for exploring all that Madrid has to offer. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay in Madrid. Thank you for a great experience!

Stylish lobby, magnificent stairhall, wide room and bathroom, quietness, wifi, friendlyness and personal attention at reception, good tips for local restauration. Excellent breakfast buffet with pleasant court and terrace.

Breakfast buffet was excellent, assortment, variety, quality, freshness. only one point was the guacamole that was a little oxydized (not fresh green).

The service staff was excellent. They were welcoming and very helpful. The airline lost my bag upon my arrival and Ernest was very helpful in translating for me. Other staff members were also very helpful with taxis and directions. Room was clean and serviced daily. Hotel is nicely decorated. They have a nice breakfast but there are also good coffee shops around. Located in a busy but not overly noisy place. Centrally located and within walking distance to many attractions and the metro stop is just feet away. Overall a very lovely stay and I would definitely stay here again.

Reception staff very pleasant and helpful. A mix up, not hotel's fault, meant they were short of one room at check in. Staff resolved matter quickly and without fuss. Throughout stay staff responded to inquiries helpfully and with a smile. Hotel is with a good central location in a fairly quiet square and close to underground station. Shops and restaurants close by., I was attending a convention at IFEMA. Easy to get there by under underground.

Some rooms have coffee machines and some do not. Mine had a very unclean/mouldy machine old style percolator. I handed it in at Reception who replaced it with a working Nespresso machine which are not available in all rooms.
